Did anyone else find that "reporter" from the first video incredibly annoying? I felt like she was mocking her more than stating the facts.

True. It says she needs 6-8 weeks rest, not really until June. But of course the longer she rests the better.

 

Exactly, she may not be fully recovered after the 6-8 weeks rest and require further treatment. Only time will tell...

On Etalk they were talking about Celine's vocal cord thing and one of her vocal cord doctors was on the show. He said that Celine's vocal cords vibrate up to 5 hundred times per second when she hits her high notes. I can't even imagine 5 Hundred times per second WOW. How is that even possible.

Celine must have lost her voice that second, because there is no way she would have done that to her fans. And I have respect for Caesar's Palace and I doubt they would wait till the last moment to cancel the show. We also have to remember she is doing double duty with album recordings, the show, and let's not forget her family. Celine really is a working mother and is trying her best, but we also have to think of it this way, Celine is soon going to be 44 (If I messed up please forgive I did the math right off the top of my head.) Her vocals are changing along with the rest of her body, I think she is just over exhausted and I really don't know why she started the Vegas show so early, I know it was contract and everything but Celine says "Jump," and Caesars Palace says, "How High?" she could have worked it out for herself. Record the album, then start the show like AND.

 

On another note, I'm super excited for Shania's show also, and hope her the best also. I just pray she doesn't take on the Cirque idea for the show.

they all make it sound like she has a full schedule of shows being cancelled between now and June... this short run from Febuary 22-March was short anyway. They make it sound like she is cancelling shows in april and may as well and that its a huge thing. She is human.. she gets sick.. 3 months off will be good for her, and hopefully she recovers and can get the new album finished and will be back on stage June 9th

I think "Celine's show will go on and on" is kinda cute but I hate when she gets tagged as the Titanic lady or the my heart will go on singer. She was even called the love balad singer and she's sooooooooo much more than that.

I just want her to get well. I keep my thoughts and prayers positive and encourage all to do so as they can/will!

Just got back from Vegas, what have should been one of the most memorable moments of my life!

My husband surprised me with Christmas with this trip for the 10th anniversary of our wedding. I was in the highest heaven. We left our 2 children in the safe hands of the grandparents and arrived saturday 25th february in Vegas after 15 hours of flight (from Belgium). Almost immediatly after landing we heard the bad news.We would see the show on the 28th. I felt like I was in the middle of a bad dream. We eventually booked the last 2 tickets for saturday(375 $ each) march 3 and rebooked our flight (this was an extra cost of almost 1400 $!!!!!!).

You can imagine how we feld when she canceled all until June.

I don't blame anybody and I feel so sorry for her because I know she feels bad about this. I just can't understand that soms "fans" go ballistic because she is ill and can't perform. My dream was shatterd twice this past days but I remain the fan that I am for twenty years now.

Hope all things will work out fine for her an maybe I will have the privilege to see her once again in the future.

Hi I noticed you saw the message I sent, you seemed a bit confused about it. yep its a visual thing, I sent the you tube clip as an example on how people would view the aerial sign.

what I was thinking is a aircraft towing a banner with message on saying.

Not sure if we've seen this article from the Las Vegas Review Journal but Rene basically calms the whole situation down and lets us know Celine will be ok. I love how the UK is blamed for the story being blown out of proportion.

 

Dion awaits word on respite's length

Celine Dion will find out in 10 days how she's progressing in her battle with a virus that wiped out her entire February and March engagement at Caesars Palace.

 

She learned on Monday, during a meeting with a top specialist at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, that six to eight weeks probably will be required for a total recovery. Professor Gerald Berke of UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles found a virus attached to her right vocal chord.

 

Her husband and manager, Rene Angelil, said she "wasn't 100 percent" when she arrived in Las Vegas in mid-February.

 

"We figured she would be OK for the 22nd," when her run was to begin. Her engagement was to end March 18. Her next engagement starts June 9 and runs through Aug. 19.

 

Angelil shot down a sensationalized report Wednesday by London's Daily Mail that "doctors ordered her to cancel performing from now until June 9."

 

Dion was scheduled to be off from March 18 to June 9 all along. Needing a juicier angle for their follow story, the British media did what they're famous for: They fudged the facts.

 

The setback "was just bad luck," Angelil said.

I think it's ridiculous that certain agencies can't make exceptions for things like this and that those who can't go see her still have to go.

Does her condition mean vocal bed-rest equals no talking for six to eight weeks? Or just that she can't sing? I don't think she could do that LOL.

I have to agree though, I read the DM every day online for the news and celeb gossip, and when I seen ''Cancels 4 Months Of Shows'' or something to that effect, I was furious and replied to that story, stating the facts also. Then a few hrs later the story was gone, so I guessed her publicist or someone on her team got wind of it, and asked them to remove it or watever...
