Changes to the show?

Tim, they have DESTROYED Beauty & The Beast. It doesn't follow the typical song format of Verse>Chorus>Verse>Chorus>Bridge>Ending ...it's a bit shorter and different than that format, so why they cut out parts is beyond me. It made it strange and random. Oh well. At least BYLM when shortened is still followed a normal structure of Verse > Chorus > Bridge etc.... BATB just sounds jumpy. I don't like it.

I have a friend who took photos during MHWGO from the show, but even then... it is not easy to tell from the photo

that it is more sheer & see-through. You have to see it in person and up close

It is definitely sexier and you can really see her legs!

Everytime she sings BYLM and omits that second verse, it pisses me off. I don't even care for the song to be honest.. I like it, but it's not one of my favorites. But jesus christ, it's her second biggest hit and she rushes through it. She needs to add that back in. Also, the same can be said for Beauty And The Beast.... this shortened version she is doing now does absolutely NOTHING for me. Sing the hits the way people want to hear them. Or at least do something exciting like what was done for TPOL/IACBTMN.

I guess at least she does the bridge in this show -- which she often omits, right?

 

Also when I went on January 4th, she started "Love Can Move Mountains" at the second verse, but all the bootlegs I've heard before the new December shows was the first verse. Does anybody know if she's carried on this change...?

No, it's always been the second verse.

 

LCMM has the format of First Verse > First Chorus > Second Verse > Second Chorus > Bridge > Final Chorus/Ending

 

And basically what she has done with LCMM for this show is that instead of just removing the second verse/chorus like she typically does for shortened songs, she just cut the first verse off. So the song actually starts with the chorus, when she performs it, and then it leads into the second verse. This is actually correct. In a few of the early shows she must have forgotten this because she sang the first verse instead of the second verse, and had to change some phrasing a little bit to accomadate the timing of things. I think she figured this out by the 4th or 5th show.

 

Additionally, the transition between the second chorus and the bridge is shorter also, and I think the final chorus/ending is not as long either. And of course the bridge has been destroyed with new lyrics and horrible timing and phrasing of a few lines, but she has been doing this since 2003. She also has been changing the lyrics of the chorus lately to. In the August bootleg that I burned onto CD and listen to in my car she has changed the lyrics in the beginning of the chorus (not the first chorus, but the second and final chorus she does this). I noticed in the 30th/31st she did this part correctly again (lyricaly at least), but in another bootleg from January I noticed she was back to re-writing the song lol.

 

As for BYLM, yes, she does do the bridge in this show. Thank god, for that much. But she has been doing the bridge since the world tour in 2008, though the first few shows she performed it in the vegas version without the bridge. And of course she did the bridge on the early show and on ellen also back in 2007, and if I recall correctly the bridge was all she performed on Oprah in addition to one chorus - an awkwardly arranged performance that one was. Interestingly enough, if you go back to the One Nite With Lite concert and listen to the BYLM bootleg (quality is horrible but we're thankful for it nonetheless, because it gives us the opportunity to hear something new and different). Anyway, this was in 2004, when she was in her first Vegas run and singing the super-shortened version with no bridge....well at this particular concert they added the bridge back in (so she was singing the 2008-present arrangement) and she either forgot, or didn't know because she started belting the first 2-3 seconds of the sustained A4 note. It was quite funny! Lol

Well BATB isn't a typical Verse>Chorus>Verse>Chorus... song. I don't think they destroyed it, it's exactly the same as the FIY tour. All 4 songs in the FIY "early medley" (IYAMT, BATB, WDMHBN, Misled) were shortened. The other 3 were easy to cut as they just removed the second verse & chorus, but with BATB it was a bit more difficult due to its format. Seeing as there are 2 points in the song where the male sings "oh...", it makes perfect sense to cut everything between these 2 points, as then the song still flows ok. I don't think there is any other point where they could have shortened it. Clearly in this new show they just kept the same arrangement. Yes, it would be nice to have the rest of the song, but as long as this great revived song stays in the show I'm happy.

Well there are only 2 Bee Gees left, the only way they could do a virtual duet is using the existing video used in the LTAL tour, but that is not suitable for a whole-body hologram. They would have to just play the video on the big screen, but I like the idea.

I have to say that I've always liked how critical Tyler's comments are. I like that a fan expresses what he really thinks about Celine's live performances without worrying about what other fans will say. And by the way, I think the same as him, it's just that I don't talk about that type of things often.

Finally, "Call The Man"

I'd love to see Falling Into You in this show. I love that song lately. I love Immortality to, but I don't know how to incorporate it effectively into this show. I'd love a performance with the surviving members live on stage at some kind of special. I've always thought the encore being Call The Man with the long ending, and it ending with fog and Celine disappearing would be great with all the humming... also, LCMM opening the show with the long intro (that they haven't done in a hundred years), would be great....Celine could rise from a platform and begin singing it.

1. Love Can Move Mountains - long intro that she did wayyyyy back in the day. Imagine her rising up on a platform with the background singers singing "faith, trust" and Celine rising above singing "looove, love can, love can mooooove, mountaiiiins"

 

2. Where Does My Heart Beat Now - I like this segment of going back to the beginning. I'd just add in the second verse and second chorus. If she wants to lip it, let her. But at least sing the verses live, a few seconds of the bridge before the high note, and part of the ending like she does.

 

3. Because You Loved Me - We're going to actually have her perform the FULL song. Imagine this, Celine singing her second biggest hit in full. It almost sounds ridiculous that this would be shocking.

 

4. It's All Coming Back To Me Now - I know this would never happen, but it would be amazing to hear her do the full song. At the bare minimum, it should be performed in the Memphis version with a proper ending. If she wants to lip parts, sure, but not the full song. A great deal of this is fairly easy, though there are a few tough parts.

 

5. The Power Of Love - full song, including the FULL second verse, and hell, even an ending like the President's Gala. She should sing the verses live, and even the first chorus since it isn't high at all, she can lip the second chorus to the end of the song, but sing the first few seconds of the bridge live before she starts the belts.

 

6. A New Day Has Come - Uptempo

 

7. That's The Way It Is - Original Key, playback for ending acceptable

 

8. Have You Ever Been In Love - What a beautiful song, I'd love to hear this again. Full version.

 

9. Falling Into You - This is such an underrated song! I wish Celine didn't have such a dislike to performing it.

 

10. Ce n'etait qu'un reve - full, not the crappy 10 second arrangement where she sings the title one time that they have been using for the last 20 years

16. My Heart Will Go On - personally I feel this should be live, but at the minimum, she can lip the ending.

 

17. Call The Man - long ending with Celine humming and disappearing as smoke fills the stage

I'd faint if she did such a show. I'd just add a 100% live version of With This Tear to it. Imagine that song with a 31 piece orchestra, or maybe even I'm Your Angel, which I'm not really a fan of.

I love that setlist Tyler! I think opening with LCMM could work quite well, it definitely needs to move, I'm sick of it being at the end of the show. In the 90s it changed position with each tour!

 

CTM would definitely be an amazing encore, the end of the song would have the same effect as Vole in the D'eux tour, with Celine fading into the darkness.

 

The only thing I would suggest is maybe the hits need to be more spaced out, her shows these days always have BYLM, IACBTMN & TPOL at the start. I think it would be quite nice if TPOL was later in the show like the TCOML & LTAL tours.

Well, I could resign from ABM. Then FIY would be a great addition! ABM is great, don't get me wrong, but I think it was sung enough during the tour. And as for FIY, I really think this song could be a great treat live. But let's face it. We won't get any old gems that haven't been sung for such a long time or never because we don't even have big hits post 1997 (especially absence of TTWII and ANDHC is visible).

I cannot believe how some people count the verses, words, choruses...who cares? When You are at the show, do You really count the words? Seriously? It's all about the great experience. For me it just flew by...I was just looking at her with the biggest ritarded smile. Got to say "Bravo, Celine!" at the end of french song; she pointed at me with her stick during RDMH saying "that's what I am talking about"...and yes, that's all that matters!

 

Show must go on the way she likes it and all we got to do is to embrace it and enjoy 'cause Votre amour existe encore!
