Changes to the show?

I was listening to the a new day live in lv album today and forgot about all of the covers that were in the original show.. at last, fever, I've got the world on a string, nature boy, what a wonderful world..

 

Hopefully this second run has more Celine.. and less covers like how AND evolved

That would be nice. But when those songs were removed they weren't exactly replaced by Celine songs, exect RDMH. Most were just removed with nothing replacing them.

My Heart Will Go On has gotten fans tired of it but it is still her biggest hit to date so not having it at the very end would be weird and it's always much better to end on a BANG than a whimper, which is why a quiet song as ending wouldn't make sense. In my opinion, of course lol

 

I actually would love to see this show, not because the concept interest me, but because I have never seen Celine in Vegas. Ever. I live too far away (it's expensive to go to Vegas from Australia).

 

Anyway, I just thought I'd add my two cents on the topic even though I've never seen the show... lol...

So the Stevie Wonder song is being replaced by ''The Prayer'' duet for the Xmas period, she will sing ''THLAL'' in Jamica in January, and she will start recording the albums in Vegas over the next few weeks!

OMG!! This is AWESOME! The Prayer >>>>>>>>>> Overjoyed. Honestly, even Je Crois Toi (which ya'll know that I hate) >>>> Overjoyed. That song puts me to sleep. Well both of them do lol, but I'm just so excited that Overjoyed is being replaced by The Prayer, which is IMO one of her most underrated songs. It's so beautiful!

 

And TREAT HER LIKE A LADY! OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, if it's live then I'll die and go to heaven....WOW!!! This is the most exciting thing I've heard since I found out she was adding The Reason and DOL to the show.

 

Even though it may not seem like much, I'm really glad that they're delving into her catalogue a bit more than they did after her first return from break with AND/TCWT.

Presumably they will use the same video performance of Andrea they used for TCWT, so the song will be -2 again. I doubt they will bother making a hologram, as they would have to re-film Andrea which is unlikely to happen just for these few holiday shows.

Because in the backstage videos of Moment Factory they were talking about 2 great artists for the holograms! One they recorded in Vegas (Stevie) and one in NYC ...

 

I LOVE both songs, but the prayer is more special :-)

Maybe they will add a hologram of Diana King later. I hope not, because that probably means it's playback since it was in the LTAL tour. Best chance of it being live is just a one-off thing like the Essence Awards, and now, the Jamaica thing.

 

I remember thinking that when they announced she was doing "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" that this would be a hologram duet. Obviously they couldn't record one since Michael is deceased, but so was Elvis and they made that work. This song was typically sung as a duet when Michael performed it, and I truly think that if she ended the MJ tribute with a hologram duet, that she would WOW the audience even more. It'd be huge!!!

 

I'm sure they'd be able to take Andrea's footage from what they did in the TCWT and use some hologram technology on that to make that occur, maybe that's what they meant? Or no....maybe the second hologram was Celine herself! Lol.

They will be able to use the TCWT footage for a hologram. It's really just video being projected on a big piece of glass they lift up...they're not really actual holograms.

 

Excited that they're changing that up a bit! And THLAL! That's going to be FANTASTIC!

I dunno about that... as Andrea was only filmed from the waist up during the WT duet video.

 

I doubt they would go to all that time and expense to film him again against a green screen for only a few appearances in the show ( xmas period ) so I think they'll use the old footage and do what they did with Frank in A new day...

 

I have a feeling the other artist they talked about doing the green screen was Barbara ( tell him )... but thats just what I think

Do you really think THLAL will be added to the show replacing the ballad with Stevie? I'd say there's more chance of Celine replacing LCMM with it (i.e. no chance!) Anyway, I highly doubt a hologram would work, it would look a bit weird if Celine's dancing around the stage and Diana is staying in the same place throughout the song. That's why the holograms work best with ballads. Furthermore, Diana doesn't have that big a part in the song, it's not really a duet - 80% of the song is just Celine, it's hardly worth making a hologram for someone who only has a few lines.

 

Also, like you said, THLAL would probably be playback again. Let's hope Jamaica is 100% like the Essence Awards! I think that performance was in the original key, LTAL playback was -1. It will be interesting to see what happens in Jamaica. I think if Celine's band are involved in her arrangements for the show (whether they are performing there or not), then it is more likely to be the arrangement from the LTAL tour that is used.

 

Oh and by the way, Elvis was not a real hologram. Celine was performing next to a stand-in (for the behind shots). All the "Elvis" parts were added afterwardsr from an old video. If they were to have any chance of projecting that old video on stage for the real thing they would need the whole body in the shot. There was an interesting video on YouTube explaining how it was done. So I doubt they would have been able to do a MJ hologram unless he was still alive.

Exactly, they can't make a hologram out of the existing TCWT video of Andrea. It would be far easier and cheaper just to play the video on the big screen.

If "The Prayer" is being added to the show just because it's Christmas why dont they be a bit adventurous and add another of Celine's Christmas songs? She does have a whole album full of them. Why add a song thats already been performed hundreds of times?

 

If however it's a permanent addition then fair enough it's a good addition to the show.

I would also like to see "Tell Him" at some point.

 

This on screen duet has so many possibilities:

 

"Immortality" with the Bee Gees would be a really pleasant and welcomed duet too
