trls Posted March 10, 2012 at 06:22 AM Posted March 10, 2012 at 06:22 AM So Adele is a match for Celine? She is very good, but the album is nothing like Falling into you, even if it won the same awards, its so damn depressing lol kev x Well Adele did say the album 21 was a break up album. She wrote it after her boyfriend broke up with her and said it was inspired by her "rubbish" relationship. That's why she gets so emotional when singing songs like set fire through the rain or someone like you live.

trls Posted March 10, 2012 at 09:12 AM Posted March 10, 2012 at 09:12 AM your point is? My point is that's why the album is so "depressing" cause the theme is about heartbreak.
Javito Posted March 10, 2012 at 09:45 AM Posted March 10, 2012 at 09:45 AM Either way, if Celine takes part in the promotion of the new Titanic film or not, she will get a lot of coverage. Of course some of it will be from people saying "Oh no, not again in 2012" but no matter what, she will get something out of it. But at the same time I have mixed feelings... I hope she won't promote it at all. She's been there, done that. Celine needs to promote other stuff to stop reinforcing the image of the "Titanic" or the "Heart Will Go On" singer... Agree! Promoting the Titanic song again in 2012 will only confirm to MANY people out there that Céline's career stopped in 1999 with that song and she has not progressed since then She really needs to focus on NEW songs, her career is crying out for that since years!. "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
CelineAndRene Posted March 10, 2012 at 10:01 AM Posted March 10, 2012 at 10:01 AM She already has her own carved niche in the ''legendary'' status. No doubts about that. If she'd die suddenly tomorrow in weird circumstances her albums sales would explode just like Whitney Houston's and Michael Jackson's and a bunch of artists would come out of the closet to say how much she had an impact and influenced them. Not to mention that she would be inevitably honored during awards shows like WH and MJ were. :thumbsup2: I think it's pretty clear she doesn't much care to prove herself anymore. Why should she? She's nothing left to prove. I'm just happy she doesn't choose to quit singing all together (I have a feeling that time is in the near future for some reason). I honestly don't think an album "flop" would motivate her to make a better album in the future like you all think. I think it would give her a reason to simply not release another one for quite some time. "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Two days during the year there's nothing you can do about: yesterday and tomorrow. Today is a great day." - Celine Dion, People.
dj4celine Posted March 10, 2012 at 10:29 AM Posted March 10, 2012 at 10:29 AM TBH I have never seen comments from French fans claiming they were ''happy'' because D'elles, which sold about 770,000 copies, sold less copy than it's predecessor 1 Fille & 4 Types, which sold about 1.1 million copies (not a huge difference). Some French fans expressed disappointment about the D'elles album after they listened to it. I see nothing wrong with that. They didn't enjoy what they listened to and expressed their opinion about it.So you're saying that it would be completely okay if Celine (and her team) comes up with a half-@$$ed album and then let it flop miserably? If yes, then I guess we are on the same page here because from what we know, this album will be about songs from the show with a mix of 3-4 new songs. The difference here in this topic is that some people here like Julian complain about an album that isn't even released and about which we only have minimal and not set in stone infos. So I wonder how can he (or other people) already knows that the album will be inevitably bad and a ''mess''.Include me in that list of people who are going to 'complain' about this album. But I'm sure that doesn't make me or Julian or anybody else who is complaining about the 'content' and 'style' of the album a bad or a lesser fan. Why can't some of you seem to realize that we are 'complaining' and even praying that this album be something else other than what it is planned so that she won't be ridiculed by the press? Well, that is a little stretch cos I think, at this point of time, it really doesn't matter what the critics have got to say but that doesn't mean that she'll be complacent to her fans who've been waiting for something new since 2007. She already has her own carved niche in the ''legendary'' status. There can never be a limit to what one might want to achieve. Sure, she's in that 'league' but will it hurt if she cements her status there and gets more recognition than just 'a singer' with zero creative input? And God forbid if something like that happens to her. Although I didn't feel that much after MJ's passing, Whitney's untimely death sure has made me even more grateful for the integrity that Celine has. In the end, I think all of us just want her to succeed and I don't see anything wrong with that. But trying to bring down other artists and their fans while trying to praise one's favourite artist/singer, is plain childish and immature. Adele is overrated and so is 21, Falling into you is by far greaterI disagree with you on that, Alex. Sure, "21" and "Falling Into You" simply cannot be compared as they're both vastly different from two vastly different artists, but the success that Adele is having right now is simply phenomenal. On top of that, she's also a truly class act with a great sense of humour unlike many of the OTT divas/artists we have right now. And no, Adele isn't overrated because she's being praised for bringing something different into the music scene and proving that all that a real singer needs is a musical instrument, a voice and beautifully penned lyrics with the right amount of emotion to reflect what's in that song. Anyways, going back to the topic, from what it seems now, the "summer" release seems more doable than the "spring" release mentioned earlier.
donpi86 Posted March 10, 2012 at 11:28 AM Posted March 10, 2012 at 11:28 AM (edited) My God, the stuff that I read on this site.Common Adele did NOT sell 20 millions worldwide. Check stats before posting.Absolutely NO WAY that 21 is comparable to Falling into You....have you been smoking? Of course they are not comparable, Falling into you is a good 90's album, and 21 is a GREAT timeless classic. 19 is a good album, 21 is great, Live at Royal Albert Hall is greater so, I can imagine what is she going to do with the next one... supposdly to be named like 23 or 24... C'mon guys, girls, I'am a huge fan of Celine, and I love how she sounds... like a pop Diva... but we have to admit that the quality of the songs, the lyrics, normally in english albums, is SOOO loww.. very easy-love-comercial songs and standard ballads... Few years ago, when at home my sister only listen to Backstreet Boys, N'sync, Mariah, and me listening Celine and other comercial pop singers it was great, I thought Celine had great albums, full of feelings, It's all coming back to me, and Because you Love me, and My heart will go on. But with the years the people has shown me real brit and american songwriters that are so pure and so intense musically, and maybe they don't have the greatest voice like Celine but they create pure music for the soul. Adele maybe is not as great singer as Celine but she TRULY believes what is singing because is her own live. Someone Like You, Make you feel my love, Rumour Has it, Take it All, Hometown Glory, My Same... all are SOOO good... The news about Adele composers in new album give more hopes to me for a step up in quality english album. She needs more of this producers-songwriters as Linda Perry... so great in My Love and New Dawn. more of That just the Woman in me baby, more of Carole King and the great The Reason, and more of A song for you (but a lot of you hate this masterpiece) and of course for me it's great At Seventeen or JB medley and MR. Paganini style... (MJ's I think it's more unnecesary...) If she doesn't make a comercial album but it's a good album for me it would be better... Edited March 10, 2012 at 11:30 AM by donpi86
amelie Posted March 10, 2012 at 12:27 PM Posted March 10, 2012 at 12:27 PM Adele is at the start of her carreer and i don't think she'll go very far that's why i think she can't be compared to Celine, other than that i find her very likeable, i liked her albums but TIMELESS?? the only reason she sold that much is because heartbreak is a catchy theme and because she filled a gap in the music scene (ballads) not because is THAT great an album and btw i love "make you feel my love" but its a cover (a great one i shall add)
Prince Whiskers Posted March 10, 2012 at 07:01 PM Posted March 10, 2012 at 07:01 PM Adele's a nice singer and it's good that one of her writers is involved in Celine's next record. I just want to say though that she doesn't have the topnotch competition that Celine had at her peak. Kyle_Jared Posted March 10, 2012 at 08:09 PM Posted March 10, 2012 at 08:09 PM (edited) This topic has morphed into a life of it's own. My God. I wonder if Rene or her PR people take a peek at some of this stuff. They'd be pretty dense if didn't know about this. Regardless, if they are going to release this album this year, I dont see how they can release it at any other time other than May. She's back to shows from June-August and then the French is supposed to be out in fall.........unless the bump the whole damn thing up........English album fall, french spring 2013. I've never been so frustrated in my entire life with a Celine project that we her fans have been left entirely in the dark about other than a team celine message from Celine a couple of months ago promising a new record! Turning out to be a real test in my Celine faith. First I fly to Vegas for the first time to see her and she cancels last minute. Secondly, this whole laryngitis bullshit has caused another pushback I'm sure. Regardless of her inflamation of her vocal cords, this album should have been recorded back in the fall when she had three friggin months off, not crammed into three weeks off in February. Kyle_Jared Posted March 11, 2012 at 02:44 AM Posted March 11, 2012 at 02:44 AM Exactly. You jump on an opportunity. And TITANIC 3D is an opportunity. It was one of THE most successful movies of all time with one of THE most successful songs of all time. Here we are 14 years later, and almost 200,000 digital copies of MHWGO were purchased last year. It doesnt matter if it was for My Heart Will Go On that Celine is getting attention. The point is the spotlight can be somewhat shed on Celine and what impact that song had on our generation and hence, an ideal time for her to launch new music while the attention is somewhat shifted on her. It's a momentous occasion, and if there is a song recorded that's single material it's PRIME time to release it.
Prince Whiskers Posted March 11, 2012 at 07:17 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 07:17 PM I forgot to include Come on Over by Shania in the list. All well-made albums that competed for attention and success back in the era that Celine dominated. To go back on topic: we'd be so lucky to get something new this year. I hope they're using the time off to reassess their vision for the next album. http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg

They could easily release an album of unreleased songs right now if they wanted. The fact that she may have not recorded all the songs is no longuer an excuse. We can have new music if only they want! (And like everyone here, as a fan, I can hardly wait for a new album ASAP!!!) "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Javito Posted March 11, 2012 at 08:22 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 08:22 PM Well, that would be a sensitive step, for once! A live album of the show now, while she gives more time to record a full new studio one, that's reasonable "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
takeachance Posted March 11, 2012 at 08:28 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 08:28 PM (edited) Adele is not anyway comparable to Celine. 21 and FIY do not belong in the same sentance. Adele is the only one out there releasing "ballads", people then are comparing her to Celine etc. But she is no where near Celine. Celine please make a new hit so people realise how great thou art again!! reamary Posted March 11, 2012 at 09:44 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 09:44 PM To me, Céline is the most phenomenal and legendary singer ever existed on this planet. Just my two cents, haha. http://i342.photobucket.com/albums/o419/reamary/1338b390-8604-432c-8a00-e8e1052a92ba.jpgHELSINKI 9.6.2008 - PARIS 26.11.2013 - PARIS 28.6.2016 - STOCKHOLM 17.6.2017 !
Alex_Incognito Posted March 11, 2012 at 09:47 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 09:47 PM I just don't care anymore. It's obvious her team doesn't care , so I'll adopt the same attitude. I'm taking a "Celine music break." "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
amelie Posted March 11, 2012 at 09:53 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 09:53 PM Lets see Madonna conquering the charts while Titanic is on theaters this time around (she will love it i'm sure)
Matias Posted March 11, 2012 at 10:18 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 10:18 PM if Celine is sick she cant do the tv presentations to sing her new songs....new album delayed until June maybe? http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_maic6m257V1rbfceqo2_250.gif"No no, put it back..."
stevo Posted March 11, 2012 at 11:06 PM Posted March 11, 2012 at 11:06 PM I hate how people diss any other singer that is mentioned alongside Celine. I don't see the point of it. They are different artists. I'm sure Celine and Rene aren't just sitting around scratching their arses, the projects will be taking some form, somehow, around Celine supposing to be on vocal rest. Rene will certainly know that MHWGO 2012/Titanic will be an opportunity- we'll have to wait and see- the fact he quashed the rumours that she actually has been ordered not to sing until June is probably a way of him excusing her participation in upcoming things during the cancellation of Vegas shows.
