So it's just like we all thought, they are just "playing safe" everytime and always inside the perimeter of her comfort zone . How sad!

 

But, am I the only one who finds disturbing that nobody in her so called "production team" has called their attention about this? not to change a bit that way to work? I just think its ridiculous to have the same band members for more than 20 years with such confidence between them and neither Céline/René or the band members ask each other about playing new songs or trying different things! It's as if time permanently stopped for them in 1998 and nobody cares about doing changes!

 

It's quite possible that they have, but we all know Rene has the final say for probably everything, and he probably favors the old stuff and says, "Well, it's worked in the past, so let's do the same thing again".

And for someone saying that only FIY/LTAL showcased her vocals and a rock-themed album doesn't show off her vocals really need to check out rock musicians. They sing and have amazing vocals, too. Heck, many tracks on FIY had some rock influence - Your Light. This song perfectly shows off her vocals. It doesn't always have to be boring ballad after ballad. Edgy and uptempo tracks don't undermine her vocal abilities.

but FIY/LTAL do showcase her vocals, way more than any other albums (imo)! And heck you're right about Your Light too! Its part of my top 10 best songs from her. And i firmly believe that Taking Chances album was a right thing to do, to step out of her comfort zone and show the world she can rock as well. I love that album, in fact Can't Fight the Feelin' is the first song play in my car. That said, I also believe its time for her to come back to power ballads, its been more than 10 years now. You might think ballads are boring, but we all know that its what made her famous in the first place. That's Just The Woman In Me sure does show how versatile and great her vocals can be (love it), but for me, what makes me thrill and what give me goosbumps are high, long and never ending notes. Like in ABM. Thats all. But i would welcome a semi-jazz semi ballad album too! If she sings great song like Tous Les Blues Sont Ecrits Pour Toi, that would be aaaaamazing too.

 

I would welcome anything actually. She could sing the telephone book and i would buy the album i think, hahaha

loll i wonder what your list of fake fans would look like. I've read the last 4 pages (because of your complaints) and I have not seen anything harmful at all. I might have said that we've been getting repetitvely boring performances one after the other for the past couple years, like At seventeen, a song for you, smile, lullabies and few more i can't recall (you can ask Tyler1991, we made the list one time together loll) Imo, there's a problem when the album Miracle is 100 times more intense than all these performances. So I wonder if i would be part of your list of fake fans. If so, that would be the funniest joke i've heard in a long time.

 

So anyway, I think you need to calm down a little bit. If you're a 13-14 yrs old girl, i could understand more. I've seen those Beiber and jonas brothers fans. I think they could kill if anyone said something bad about them. At this age, you are very protective of your idoles. Its kind of cute

 

 

I had a conversation with Andre Coutu yesterday (Celine's guitar player for 20 years). I asked him if he remembers the song Then You Look At Me, which is my favorite song of hers, and he told me that he knows the song, but he doesn't remember playing it live. I asked him if he knew why Celine never sang it live and if she ever talked to him about this particular song. He told me that they never spoke about this song, and that the ones who decide which songs are going to be part of the show are the members of the production team.

 

Going back to this topic, he also told me that he noticed that Celine and her team like her to perform mostly her biggest hits and don't usually touch her more obscure material, which, Andre himself said IS TOO BAD, although he knows that this formula seems to work for Celine. I told him that 95% of her fans think that way and he said that it's true, but this is the way they are used to work. I told him that maybe he could talk to René about this song being included on the new show.

Of course the formula works, they reach a bigger population, a lot more people will buy tickets if she sings her greatest hits. More people = more money. They don't really "care" if fans would prefer more "obscure material", because we'll go see her in concert no matter what! LOL its true, it makes sense to do so. Its sad; but hey, what can we do? Nothing. lol

 

But she did include The Reason and she did include Where Does My heart Beat Now (not really obscure songs, but a least rarely performed nowadays) I'm happy they at least did that.

Recorded with the instruments in the studio at the same time she's singing... I hope the new album could have more of this and less of "machine sounds" and pre-recordings...

Yes, I believe this will be the longest wait between studio albums (just about 5 years)...

 

I really hope they try and push a single a little bit this time......just because a single is promoted on iTunes does not mean fan's aren't going to buy an album. Rene seems to hang his hat choosing god awful singles and never promoting them.

 

She's going to need a massive medial blitz because from my conversations with people, the majority, 'casusal' celine fans and even 'non' fans---think she's done. A "Vegas" singer.

I suggest all of the Celine Fans to do poll and send it to Rene. They didn't care about the music already, they've just care about the LIve and Money...

I'm quite sad when Rene said that new album only got 3 brand new songs only....

 

We all waiting Celine' s new album more than 4 years already. They cannot just simply to do a cover album or live album...It's just make Celine's fans upset only...

 

We've argued with team Celine and ask them to do a album that we want.!!!!!!!

 

About Celine in Vegas, I'm quite bored with the song lists...The target audience is like more 50 years old people...All the biggest hits is keep repeating

 

 

LOL!!! Well, I'm 55 and even tho' I did enjoy the Vegas show this past summer, I definitely want more of Celine's songs!!! I think that we all feel the same way about having more of her songs. We are the die hard fans that buy her CD's all the time, and so we truly know all about her amazing talent. So many people have only heard the "hits", and so they aren't as knowledgeable about all that she can do. I think it's a shame too, because they really are denying themselves the "gift of hearing a talented and awesome voice"!!! "They" are really missing out!!!

 

So, those of us in our 50's still look forward to new material, and to hearing only Celine's songs at her shows. Goodness, I think we'd be happy to have an "all-day" concert with Celine. Now that would be an wonderful day!!!

I wonder if Celine has recorded any songs yet? She said she was going to be recording songs this month and there is only 5 days left of Nov!! I can't wait to hear a sneak preview of a song!! It's getting closer guys. Probably in Jan or Feb we will hear a preview!!

 

I really hope Celine sings atleast one new song off her album at that Blues Jazz Fest in Jan cuz that would be perfect promo time for the album's single!!! I also have a huge feeling Celine will be singing at the Grammy Awards!!!

She'll probably film some recording sessions just like she did with Let's Talk About Love, S'il Suffisait D'aimer, A New Day Has Come, Miracle, D'elles and Taking Chances. But, if they film these sessions, they'll probably release them around April, maybe one or two months before.

I agree on this too! "A song for you" really presents her voice beautifully! I think a few more like that and a couple up tempo songs and she could come back with a winning album.

It's fun to see how everybody wants this upcoming English album to be chart-topping, but don't you think it's more important that Celine feels good with each song from the record? I mean, she is an artist, she wants to express herself through music. I know for sure that this album isn't going to be done just to promote the show, that would be quite weird, and a little bit commercial in my opinion. I don't see Celine releasing a new album (after a four-and-half-year wait) just with songs from the new show; where would she promote it? around the world or just in US and Canada?

Agree. She used to do lots of nuances with her voice in those recording sessions, especially in french songs. The fading of the song Apprends-moi in 2003 was the last time I heard her do those things with her voice. Now it all seems to be done so fast and without emotion

One thing's for sure: The studio session for Surprise, Surprise was surely not that fast! I mean, Celine was going crazy because Kara Dioguardi wanted her to sing the song EXACTLY the way she wanted to, which was sometimes quite hard for Celine, I mean, she sang the song her way and then Dioguardi told her that she should record it with few differences that were almost impossible to detect.

Jazz doesn't need to be boring. There can be many neuances to jazz. A lot of space to exeperiment with both voice and instruments and new sounds... Take a look at Nina Simone and Anita O'Day, mix that up with a chilly sound of let's say Dido and the mystique of Sarah McLachlan, and Céline would enter the jazz scene and bring it to a totally different level and at the same time creaty new, frech modern ground.

 

But if Céline chooses to do jazz, I fear she does it in a safe old standard way we've heard too many times from so many artists these past years...

 

Experimenting with sound shouln't be something to fear, but something to do with eagerness - look how welcome A New Day Has Come (Radio Remix) was when it arrived, and it still is top quality today.
