chocolatechip15 Posted April 19, 2012 at 01:05 AM Posted April 19, 2012 at 01:05 AM For those of you who are old enough, like me, to remember the MHWGO craze in 1997-98 -- remember when all the radio stations (at least in the US) were making their own versions of MHWGO by splicing in bits of the movie dialogue during the instrumental portions? (I think they all did "Iceberg . . right ahead" in the dramatic break before "you're hear/there's nothing i fear") I loved those versions, and I think that's a large part of why the song got something like the most radio airplay of any song ever -- there were so many versions of it. They did it also for the "Southampton" single (that purely instrumental piece off the Titanic soundtrack. Do you all prefer the song with or without the movie dialogue? Anyone have a favorite version with movie dialogue? Do you think we'll be hearing these versions again? Quote

CelineAndRene Posted April 19, 2012 at 01:31 AM Posted April 19, 2012 at 01:31 AM Ohhhh to have been apart of the 1998 craze. I remember being completely obsessed with the song, but I had no idea who Celine was, nor did I care then. Oh the irony.. Quote "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Two days during the year there's nothing you can do about: yesterday and tomorrow. Today is a great day." - Celine Dion, People.

Think I still have it recorded on a cassette lol LOL, I had the Z100 remix on a cassette tape too! I even recorded the commercial where they were advertising that contest giving it away. But my favorite was the WPLJ version, which was longer, because they had a minute or so at the beginning of dialogue set to other Titanic music, and then segued into the MHGWO beginning. Quote

Davey84 Posted April 23, 2012 at 08:33 AM Posted April 23, 2012 at 08:33 AM Yesterday I went to one of the local cemeteries here in Halifax and visited the Titanic graves. It was quite touching seeing the rows of graves from the Titanic. People had left coins by the headstones and some had flowerts. Here are a few pictures I took. I thought you might like to see them. Also last night I attended an event to mark the disaster. I've included a few pictures. At one point they had a young guy sing My Heart Will Go On. I thought he did a great job. I will try to find the video. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f323/Scotian2006/DSCN0096.jpg Thank you for the pix Del!! The grave of the little unknown child is so depressing I am glad they are still remembered this way... Also, does anyone else remember the dance remixes of MHWGO? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIa9CeAmZaY I think the beginning is super-catchy-- but it strikes me as a bit bizarre to make this particular song into a clubby dance song . . . The Tony Moran Mix is the reason I bought the Immortality single, cos it was on it that was the start of my collecting obsesion! Like I said, it's annoying they didn't make new remixes for the song for this 2012 release LOL, I had the Z100 remix on a cassette tape too! I even recorded the commercial where they were advertising that contest giving it away. But my favorite was the WPLJ version, which was longer, because they had a minute or so at the beginning of dialogue set to other Titanic music, and then segued into the MHGWO beginning. I can't believe it's been almost 20 years, can still remember the first time I heard mhwgo! I can't believe it's been 20 years either! The first time I heard the song was on a VH1 special about LTAL. They showed the MHWGO video, but it didn't have the clips of Celine singing in it . .it was just movie clips for the whole song. I thought it was the most powerful thing ever. I watched my tape of it over and over and over again. . . 20 years! crazy!!!! 1 Quote
