dlh1 Posted March 11, 2011 at 06:06 PM Posted March 11, 2011 at 06:06 PM Everyone keeps going on about covers but let's face it, Celine's career is based on cover songs and songs for films. In the new show I bet there is less than 3 songs that are Celine original songs that she never recorded for a film. I can only think of Love Can Move Mountains and The reason. Quote

ivo Posted March 11, 2011 at 06:17 PM Posted March 11, 2011 at 06:17 PM (edited) Everyone keeps going on about covers but let's face it, Celine's career is based on cover songs and songs for films. That is only her US career. The songs for films are original Celine songs so I don't see the difference. Over here there were also French hits/singles, amazing original Celine songs. Her big hits here were;Beauty an the BeastThink TwicePour que tu m'aimes encoreJe sais pasFalling into youBecause you loved meIt's all coming back to me nowTell himMy heart will go onImmortalityI am your angelThat's the way it isA new day has comeI'm alive I know some of them are covers but they were not very well known before Celine recorded them. I think some of them would very well fit this show. And I'm not going to try to become somebody else, but I will try to keep it as fresh as possible. "They will let me know when they have enough of it." Well, first of all, I really agree with her when she says that she is the same artist as when she started back in June 1981, I mean, I can see that everytime she hits the stage it's almost like the first time because of how happy she seems to be each time she gives a performance, and I also love the fact that she doesn't let this new and crazy music industry influence her career at all like it's happening with other singers such as Beyoncé, Rihanna or Lady Gaga; these singers I've just named change their musical style according to what the industry tells them that will sell better, but that's not the case with Celine, who was more succesfull in the 90's because of the push she got with the Falling into you album and My heart will go on around the world, but she never really changed her style (if we don't count the One heart and Taking chances albums, which are more uptempo but just because of Celine's decission to do so, not because of the music industry). CELINE NE CHANGE PAS!! Of course her songs are not getting old; hits like The power of love, It's all coming back to me now, Because you loved me or My heart will go on are more than just radio hits, these songs have become anthems for us and for her, so it's very normal that she wants to keep these songs as part of her live shows, but, at the same time, there's one thing I don't really like and that's her insistence on keeping some other songs part of her repertorie, I mean, why does she still want to sing Love can move mountains or River deep, mountain high in her shows? I know that, if I asked this question to Celine herself, she would tell me that she needs these kind of uptempo songs to make the audience stand up and dance with her 'cause she's a dancer too, but c'mon! she has recorded A LOT of awesome uptempo songs through the years and never took them to the stage! (for example, Just a little bit of love, which could and SHOULD have replaced Declaration of love during the Let's talk about love World tour, Your light...) It's really nice that she doesn't want to change, but taking some of HER OWN SONGS that she has never performed live to her shows wouldn't really injure her career! (Then you look at me is the perfect example) This is just my opinion. spellbound Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:14 PM Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:14 PM Well thx to Delayne, now we have a rare live performed song that's going to be cut from the actual show DOL live!Thx Delayne!! I think they dropped the song becoz it's less known than LCMM and RDMH in the medley and most likely people didn't react positively to the song when it was sung on March 8th rehearsals Plus IMO the link between DOL and LCMM sounded a little bit cheesy Well I'm really glad I recorded it now! But I'm going to be so sad if it really is cut. In my opinion this was not the one to cut, she needs uptempo songs like this in the show. I personally think that Lullaby, You'll Have to Swing it, and At Seventeen are not all necessary to be in the show, they have a similar slow vibe and three of those slow covers is more than enough. I'd be fine with any of those being cut, even though they were all beautiful. Regardless of the setlist however and what she does keep or cut, it will be a beautiful show worth seeing and remembering. This woman could honestly sing twinkle twinkle little star and i'd walk out of the theatre with a stupid grin on my face. I hope everybody is still just as excited to see the show because it honestly is beautiful! Quote Let the rain come down and wash away my tearsLet it fill my soul and drown my fearsLet it shatter the walls for a new sunA new day has come......
I Love You Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:18 PM Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:18 PM That Pi##es me off, that they cute Deceleration of Love. I am so sick of hearing LCMM, and RDMH, on her tours. Cut those two songs, and replace them With DOL, TTWII, and Mislead. There is your medley. Quote
Javito Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:20 PM Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:20 PM (edited) I'd honestly be SHOCKED to see a Marnay medley and while it would be fantastic, it wouldn't appeal to the demographic that is coming to the show. This is not a TOUR that is going to be made up mostly of her fans. This is a tourist show, so it needs to appeal to that. Maybe it's a bit more commercial than a Céline tour, but remember, bottom line, this is a BUSINESS and if the show doesn't make money, there will be no show. I also don't find it contrived AT ALL that Céline is singing Michael. She's sung him in the past (before his death), covering "Bad," and singing on his charity single "What More Can I Give." Excuse me?? Isn't she talking about "making the show she wants to do to pay tribute to those who have influented her in her career"? Now she names one of her songs with the name "Eddy" telling to the worldwide press that its because Eddy Marnay was like a second father for her, but they better put first Michael Jackson before him in the show she wants to do? If they're talking about people who has influented her big, please be coherent and remember the man who wrote you your first 5 studio albums before someone with whom you've barely been related except for that charity song (with many other artists too, it wasn't Céline and Michael alone ) You have to consider that most of her fans don't know Eddy Marnay and that a lot of them don't even know her earlier French work... As much as I love to hear some old songs, the husband who goes to Celines new show because his girlfriend wants to don't want to hear it... Hmmm... Probably there are more canadians and fans in the world who can associate the name Eddy Marnay with Céline than Michael Jackson with Céline. What has done Michael for Céline compared to Eddy Marnay? (and I have nothing against Michael because I like his music a lot). The casual fan doesn't know anything about Eddy Marnay. The majority of the people that will be attending the concert are not big time Céline fans. They are going to be people who like her voice and her number one songs. THAT is who the show needs to be geared to. Perhaps she could have make more efforts to promote his name in her concerts with the same passion that she has told she was a french canadian everywhere she went in concert, or with the same enthusiasm that she promoted the name of Jean Jacques Goldman? Yes I am defending Eddy Marnay because I believe she has AMAZING (underrated) songs, and for one time that she is doing a concert full of tributes, at least she could pay attention to the people who has worked with her. How can she be talking that Eddy Marnay is one of her heroes in life, a second father for her to the point that she has given his name to one of her songs, and say that this concert is about people who have influenced her in her career and then include a medley about Bond and MJ songs who have done 0 for her? It's totally incongruous. It's the same story that is pissing us off with the lack of Céline's songs in the concert setlist I don't know why some people dislike 'At seventeen'. When she performed in in 2008 it was fantastic and fresh for Celine. I think it is a very good song choice. At Seventeen is a nice song. But Céline & René have to learn the difference between a song which is nice to be performed once, in a certain ocasson (like Grammys or Oscars), and when a song fits the setlist of a concert and when it does not Edited March 11, 2011 at 08:27 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... pollsy Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:22 PM Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:22 PM (edited) I also think that You'll Have to Swing it or At Seventeen must to be cut.. not DOL! Goddess, Team Celine come on! Tyler1991 Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:23 PM Posted March 11, 2011 at 08:23 PM What is with the big infatuation with That's The Way It Is? We already have a dozen or so performances of this song, and all but 2 are crap. This is one of her worst up-tempos to be performed live. It has a terrible 90's Nsync sound that is outdated, and of course the live vocals for this have been a complete mess. Quote
