I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but is anyone else surprised that "If You Asked Me To" wasn't included in the Bond medley? Patti Labelle's version was the theme to the Bond movie "License To Kill" in 1989.

If You Asked Me To was not the theme to License To Kill, it just appeared on the soundtrack (and during the ending credits of the film). The actual theme song was called "License To Kill", sung by Galdys Knights. :thumbsup2:

Also, this Patti Labelle version was not a hit until Celine covered it in 1992, so really I can't see it being in the Bond medley.

Well, remember when "A new day" first opened, the reviews were mixed. If you watch the behind the scenes on the DVD, René mentioned that when he would go into the lobby after the show, people would be saying "I just came to see her sing her hits." Because this is in Vegas, it's a tourist show so we have to expect that "Because You Loved Me," "Power of Love," etc. A tour is more likely to have some special fan favorites and album tracks. A tourist show has to appeal to the masses.

Of course, looking from this side I agree, but looking from the other, I don't. And I know that A new day.. was different. I'd like to have that show again, but it seems impossible. I only hope that it might change sth later.

Well, remember when "A new day" first opened, the reviews were mixed. yeah kinda agree with you.. covers are great and all but droppign a Celine song (DOL supposedly) is just stupid.. they could drop one of the james bond songs and replace DOL with TTWII or ANDHC

Sort of off topic.. found this video of Celine doing "Seventeen" from the Grammy nominations concert.. i think this is a great fit for this show even if it is a cover.. thoughts?

No. It's not. It's boring. Jesus christ, I'll be falling asleep. That song, Lullaby, and the Etta James song need to go. If they need to cut 3 songs, it should be covers. Not Celine songs. and those covers are boring as hell.

Before we all get too upset, remember, this is STILL REHEARSALS. She could be removing songs to save her voice, or to re-work the arrangement, etc. Let's not forget that the original version of "A new day..." included tons of songs that were removed over the 5 year run. Also, there are going to be surprises I'm sure that will not be revealed until opening.

I understand that Céline's point of view about this show is to offer her respects and tribute to the people who has influenced her in her career. But much as I think about the inclusion of a MJ tribute, I can't see that other than a marketing/commercial move:

1. To attract people to the show (like the Bond medley), since he was a megastar known in the whole planet who recently passed away.

2. Where's Eddy Marnay medley then??? I can't avoid seeing it also pretentious to include a MJ medley and saying that its because "he has influenced her so much" and NOT including at the same time an EDDY MARNAY medley. If she loved so much Michael, why on Earth she didn't sang him during "A New Day" or when he was alive, during all her previous world tours? It's like everyone is saying "nah nobody care about him in life, but now that he's dead, everyone is paying him tribute and Céline wont be less". Too pretentious :nono:

Sorry guys but I see that move speaking too bad of Céline. Canadian fans won't be very happy about this (too) american move of Céline. Eddy should have come first than Michael, and he deserved a whole medley of Céline's early songs instead of that "Ne me quitte pas" (no matter how good is that song) or that Bond medley in that case.

I'd honestly be SHOCKED to see a Marnay medley and while it would be fantastic, it wouldn't appeal to the demographic that is coming to the show. This is not a TOUR that is going to be made up mostly of her fans. This is a tourist show, so it needs to appeal to that. Maybe it's a bit more commercial than a Céline tour, but remember, bottom line, this is a BUSINESS and if the show doesn't make money, there will be no show.

I also don't find it contrived AT ALL that Céline is singing Michael. She's sung him in the past (before his death), covering "Bad," and singing on his charity single "What More Can I Give."

Well thx to Delayne, now we have a rare live performed song that's going to be cut from the actual show DOL live!

I think they dropped the song becoz it's less known than LCMM and RDMH in the medley and most likely people didn't react positively to the song when it was sung on March 8th rehearsals

Plus IMO the link between DOL and LCMM sounded a little bit cheesy

Thanx God that sb finally dares to say this. Thank u till the sky by starting this topic. I expected sb to do it cuz i wasnt allowed. I always get punished somehow :laugh: . Thanx a lot Tyler1991. I completely agree. We need sth new and fresh and CELINE'S SONGS which are really alive and great and sth we never heard before and not those that have been repeated more than million times in those last years. Thank u for support .

I was exactly saying to my friend. Come on, the whole list from the last century and many of the songs repeated tirelessly.. Who is going to enjoy in this, I mean from new generation, doesnt matter how much we love her. I couldnt read better post than this. Thank u too Javito. You have to consider that most of her fans don't know Eddy Marnay and that a lot of them don't even know her earlier French work...

As much as I love to hear some old songs, the husband who goes to Celines new show because his girlfriend wants to don't want to hear it...

So to let people know that she is capable of singing a lot of genres and songs and to make even the husband who is not a fan saying after the show: AMAZING!!!!!

So yes it's a bit commercial ;-)

She can not please everybody, and some things will never change so try to live with that!

Some decisions disappoint me to, but I know I have a smile on my face from ear to ear on the premiere night, and don't give ** about all the covers...

I'm sorry, but from the reviews we got, the crowd was DOA (dead on arrival) apart from the fans that were there. I don't think its fair at all to base the fact that the crowd didn't "react positively" when from the reviews they weren't being receptive of Celine at all! :nono: If that's why it got cut, what a shame. :glare:

Well, ok, but this becomes a nonsense to me that there're fans who dont know Eddy. Sorry, but those are some basic facts about Celine's career. Then they're not real fans (means that they dont follow everything about her) maybe they only like some determined songs about her. That's just my opinion. Sorry, no offense for others :msn-wink: .

The casual fan doesn't know anything about Eddy Marnay. The majority of the people that will be attending the concert are not big time Céline fans. They are going to be people who like her voice and her number one songs. THAT is who the show needs to be geared to.

Hehe, that's what im exactly talking about. The other fan was right. This show is seemed to be made for people who come there by the way and not for fans, so it's right. Haha. I think that it should be made for fans, not sb who doesnt have anything with her. Haha.

It would be nice for the show to be made for the real fans, but it's not realistic given the fact that this is a Vegas tourist show. I mean, I don't think that your average person going to see the show would expect that they would hear "Everybody's Talkin' My Baby Down," "Les chemins de ma maison," "With This Tear," or "Refuse to Dance." They're gonna expect "Because You Loved Me," "Power of Love," "My Heart Will Go On," etc. If the reviews came out that the audiences weren't happy because they didn't know the majority of the songs, the show would be closed down.

Maybe Céline's next tour will include some of these rare gems...

I agree with u again and ur right, but according to tour, who knows if another comes. For me would be the best thing ever after TC one :msn-wink: .

I don't know why some people dislike 'At seventeen'. When she performed in in 2008 it was fantastic and fresh for Celine. I think it is a very good song choice.

I hope DOL will stay on the setlist, nice to hear that one again (live!). I am a little bit dissapointed by the setlist. I think there could be less covers and a couple of more of her own songs. Anyway, I think the show will be great and the show is made to entertain the general public that visits Vegas.

By the way, I like this show much more than AND. That one never really got me. This one is much more about the voice and not about the dancers and everything. Celine doesn't need that.

WTF DOL was cut? Im so pissed if they needed to cut anything it should have been the covers.

and the only Celine song that should be cut is RDMH!, i hope that this is not true... PLEASE but if it is i wonder what they will do because the intro led into DOL and now there is no DOL so what will LCMM start at the begining?
