Claudette, you're partly right! Céline recorded Dreams to Dream for the 1991 animated movie "An American Tail:Fievel Goes West"

She loved the song, BUT when all said and done, Steven Spielberg (I think) I guess Phil Nibbelink or Simon Wells got Linda Ronstadt to sing the song, because she also sang the soundtrack of the first movie, if I remember well!!

 

SO Céline was pissed her track wasn't released, and because of that, she almost rejected BATB! Because she was done with movie songs! But when she saw the movie, she was hooked!

btw no need to say that BATB became a huge hit and DTD erm didn't! though DTD is still a beautiful song!

Aha that was the movie. I couldn't remember what movie it was. I don't know why I thought it was ''The Little Mermaid'' though. It is a beautifull song. We still stand a better chance at getting IGTMIM then we do great gems such as Love Doesn't Ask Why, Just Walk Away, Only One Road, I Love You, I Love You Goodbye, With This Tear, Water From The Moon, Nothing Broken But My Heart.....

 

But no, they would rather perform covers that we don't care about then hear the rare gems from the artist we came to see.

I have a hunch "A Song For You" may be part of the set list. It's one of her all-time favorite songs that she's recorded, plus she recently (using the term loosely here) performed it on Oprah's show. It's very orchestral and intimate...a perfect match for The Colosseum At Caesars Palace.

It's a beautiful song... I think it would need some bigger notes in it to sing it live. Face it, she doesn't have any big notes in that song, but I guess it's the meaning of the song that counts.

I'll go through your list and rate them 1-10 on likely to be perform. 10 is very likely, 1 is no chance.

 

Is Nothing Sacred - 0 (Celine probably doesn't even know she recorded this song. It's so insignificant)

The Reason I Go On - 0 (Not even on most versions of TC).

That's The Way It Is - 4 (A big hit that we would expect her to perform but she just doesn't.)

Declaration Of Love - 1 (It's too much like LCMM and why do this when she is so in love with that song, plus this is fairly insignificant.)

If You Asked Me To - 7 (If it wasn't movie themed, then I'd say a 2, but since it is she SHOULD do it but probably will do some cover instead).

Call The Man - 1 (A perfect example of a song performed in its era, but after that there is no use for it.)

The Reason - 2 (Yeah, same as the above)

Us - 0 (She has never performed this, and never will. Probably doesn't even remember the song.)

Right In Front Of You - 0 (Insignificant. Not a single, not a hit, not a fan favorite.)

Eyes On Me - 3 (I don't expect for any songs from the TC album except TC and My Love to ever be performed again for her entire career).

You And I - 0 (Great song, but she has no reason to perform this. It's insignificant.)

 

I'd love for these songs to be in the setlist, but there is no way any of these will. I probably rated most of these higher than what most people would, lol. IYAMT is a song that I'd love to see her do again and I know for a fact that if it wasn't for the movie theme that there is no way she would do it. That is the only hope for this song.

I also think that the Hollywood theme may have a much bigger influence on this show than some of you believe. And I think this is the best opportunity yet for Celine to completely change her setlist and do a brand new show. Of course I love her back catalogue. But I relish the chance to hear her sing a concert with lots of new songs. (when I say new I mean new for her, Hollywood theme obviously means they are covers)

 

She has enough of her own movie hits to be able to do nothing but movie songs and the fact that it is clearly not going to be as energetic a show as the TC tour means a lot of her usual fast tempo favourites are unlikely to work. If there are no dancers and Celine is on stage with a large orchestra, I can't see RDMH, IDAN or sadly LCMM working. So let's embrace the idea of seeing Celine do some new material. Remember how exciting it was when she performed It's a man's......world, simply the best, everything I do, or at seventeen to name just a few. We've had the usual suspects so many times on concert now. It's time for a radical re-think. I for one hope that they embrace change this time.

I actually think the opposite.... Céline and her team are known to "exaggerate" stuff. They've announced the show would be about Hollywood songs, later it was just a portion of the show and now apparently it's just songs from the Warner Bros catalogue... It doesn't surprise me if not more than 25% of the show will consist of movie songs.

 

Remember the Frank Sinatra medley (several songs? no....just 2) and there are a few other examples. 50/50 would be nice, but like others...I'd love to see more Céline gems!

I really think it is time that they start sharing some more info about this show. I mean, it is six months away and we still know nothing about it other that they are planning on doing a hollywood tribute.

LCMM has to be in there, it always is! It would be such a shame for them to stop performing it as it's been in every concert since 1992!

I have to agree with John, if it's a show, where an orchestra is present all the time, big uptempo songs wont work, maybe not even midtempo, like TTWII (WCD) but that song never really worked live... this is really the chance to make a total new setlist!!!

 

I hope we don't see these songs back:

 

I Drove All Night (won't work with an orchestra, plus give another uptempo song a chance if you will do one)

The Power Of Love (tired of it, but I doubt it'll go)

It's All Coming Back To Me Now (also tired of it, it's a big hit, but after all these years let it go, especially cos of u know what)

To Love You More (also very tired of it, it's wasn't even a hit everywhere! for a 'rare' song the magic wore out. after all these years let it go, especially cos of u know what)

Eyes On Me (nice for the tour, won't add anything though)

All By Myself (nice revival like SM in AND, but it's fini now)

I'm Alive (the new version was awesome, but it's done now. I'd rather hear ANDHC radio mix for a change!)

Shadow Of Love (nice for the tour, won't add anything though)

Fade Away (nice for the tour, but won't work with orchestra)

My Love (nice for the tour, but the trick wore out i think)

The Prayer (Duet with Andrea Bocelli) (nice for the tour, won't add anything though)

Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore (this song should be put to rest for at least 5 years! the magic is gone, plus her frenc work is more than only this song!!!!)

Tribute To Queen Medley (nice for the tour, won't add anything though)

It's a Man's Man's Man's World (nice for the tour, won't add anything though)

River Deep, Mountain High (nice for the tour, but won't work with orchestra, plus it's been on 4 tours now, it's enough)

 

 

I do hope to see these songs again:

 

Taking Chances (can be interesting with an orchestra!)

Because You Loved Me (FULL version again please!!)

Alone (this song was a high light during the tour, with an orchestra could be amazing)

Love Can Move Mountains (this song is Céline!! She can't scrap this one!)

My Heart Will Go On (BUT like the soundtrack version and please live!!)
