Exactly. The note was only lowered from a D5 to a C#5 because the other singer sang the first high note, and most likely the D5 was not in her range. Anyway, I know it wasn't performed anything like anything else, but I'd like to know what note was hit on the Larry King impromptu earlier this year...

Wow, I haven't read this thread for a while. What a shame!

I have to think over things now but have to admit that Alone should be performed in the show! It would a stunning performance with orchestra BUT I highly doubt if they use it. I'm afraid they will stick (AGAIN) to songs from the 90s, movie covers and 2/3 songs from the new album(s). I really think they should think about the whole show deeply. She still has such amazing songs from 2000s that would be awesome with orchestra (Prayer for instance). I would rather she dug up old songs but HERS. Also, I have to point out that PQTME is a great song but she may as well use another French song (new or old as creators of the shows/concerts stuck to it as it's her biggest French hit of all time) as there should be done sth for a change

I wish all producers would have the guts to push Celine like Kara did. Otherwise, we'd have a bunch of Miracle-sounding tracks. Celine, obviously, is incredible - but she that doesn't mean that she shouldn't be pushed to sound her best. Just like a director should push Meryl Streep to act her best.

yeah I have to agree... it's nice that some songs only need a few takes, but SS is far more surpirior than ASFY (with more takes and more pushing, it would have been a brilliant song!) Céline is a perfectionist, but she also needs to be pushed! She did more than 40 takes for IACBTMN and see the result...

 

I think we never got SS as a single, cos she was also a producer of TC... and cos Sony are idiots!

Well I do agree that pushing Celine is no bad thing. She is a very hard worker and I'd say that she does appreciate that level of commitment and passion in the studio too. She may look like she is finding it tough, but I reckon at the end of the day she benefits from it. Every artist should be encouraged to explore the music more and work to get a better performance from the session. Thats what a good producer can do, and I do think that Kara did definatley did what she needed to do to get a great vocal performance on the song.

But I wouldn't say that SS is far superior to ASFY, I think that that song is one of the most beautifully tender songs Celine has ever given us. It's so different to SS that they aren't really able to be compared. Also with a song like that I do think that it's more important to set the mood and treat it softly and just let the magic of the moment create itself. Pushing a la Kara on that would have made it feel forced and it would have lost a lot of it's gentle beauty.

Its a pity producers/writers don't give Celine sections in songs where she can ad-lib etc. She's great at that. Or my greatest wish is to have Celine decide how to sing a song, produce it herself. If she's not confident (etc) enough to do her own song, Sony let her produce someone else's song!!! Obviously only if the writer of the song isn't producing it!! I'd love that. Let her be creative.

I think SS should had been an single, and should have been sung in her tour. An AMAZING song, a good radio song, far better then EOM wich is also good but to much wannabe hip. SS could easily been a hit from another popstar these days.

 

I wish celine would sing Refuse To Dance!! They could do amazing things with that song, only the intro is show worthy!!!

Celine was done with Surprise, Surprise before the song was even done. When looking at her up tempo songs, it's honestly probably her most difficult. More so than IDAN, TC, TTWII....the ending minute or so (maybe more) is sung very high.

She will absolutely perform Beauty and the Beast. And I will welcome it back with open arms. I'll take When I Fall In Love….although I won't jump out of my seat with excitement. But, along with Because You Loved Me and MHWGO, those are her BIG movie themes. I'm sure we will also have I'm Alive and The Prayer.

 

I would LOVE Then You Look at Me. That would absolutely make me jump out of my seat. And I want some French songs and a few movie classics that aren't Celine's songs.

Hmmm how about some Barbra Streisand songs like "Somewhere" or "Evergreen"...or maybe some Judy Garland like "Somewhere Over The Rainbow".....I'm sure she also has to add more Frank Sinatra songs....she loves him....

"I Drove All Night" could be included as part of the set list and still get away (very loosely) with being tied to a movie. It was used in the movie "The Love Guru."
