Flying for the holidays begins tomorrow morning! Luckily this year I don't have to set foot on a Dash 8. :clapping: My jumpers are E145 both ways from Georgia and I am sitting in the single row :P

Delta decided to kill a flight in January when I am on my way home from a cruise so now instead of taking a direct flight in an E175 each way, I get to hop on a 757 from MCO to ATL and then I'm riding in my first MD-90 from ATL to DCA. Never been in one, so I'm excited. :D

I'm hoping the winds are right and I get to take the river approach during my flights back to DCA, it's so much fun flying along the Potomac and then making that low turn into DCA.

The update!

I did get the river approach on my flight home on Christmas day, but didn't get to enjoy it on the way home from Orlando.

After flying in the E175 I have decided I like the 2 and 2 seating, but the plane is way too small for a tall person to be comfortable for more than an hour.

I also didn't like the MD90 at all - very cramped and I just generally don't like the feel of having engines in the back on a plane that large.

Oh! Almost forgot that while we were taxiing in Atlanta on our way back to DCA after our pilot made an announcement that we were delayed for traffic reasons it seems like he forgot to switch back his headset and he came back on with his response to ATC for his taxiing direction. :giggle:

I've tried MD90 only once in America. It is very small. The smallest plane I've ever take. Actually the only 2 and 2 seating plane I've ever took.

OO-SFO (A330-301), first flight January 1994:

http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/7/9/4/1969497.jpg

This bird is currently under heavy maintenance (C-Check) at Lufthansa Technick in Malta. Unfortunately during the C-check corrossion and metal fatigue has been discovered. OO-SFO was acquired by the late Sabena back in 1997 after having flown for 3 years for the French carrier Air Inter. After the bankruptcy of Sabena the plane was picked up by Birdy Airlines (a start-through of the late CityBird) who flewn the plane for SN Brussels Airlines. Later Birdy Airlines merged together with Virgin Express and SN Brussels Airlines into Brussels Airlines. It is yet unknown how long the repairs will take to get "SFO" flying again.

In the mean time, 2 additional A330's (A330-200's) have joined the fleet.

1) OO-SFY (ex-HB-IQA from Swiss):

A month ago, Brussels Airlines (SN) launched their new long haul business & economy class. The complete A330 fleet (both A330-300 & A330-200) will be completely refurbished and a new cabin will be installed. Brussels Airlines chose to implement the RAVE AVOD IFE system from IMS (AVOD = Audio Video On Demand / IFE = Inflight Entertainment System). The RAVE system from IMS is a wireless system that has all the information stored localy in the screen. More then 100 hours of entertainment (movies, series,...) will be available. Also implemented is the Lufthansa flighttracking system where one can follow the flight on the personal screen from different perspectives. More special then this all is that Brussels Airlines opted to install one of the biggest screens available in business & economy. Business class will feature 15,3" touch screens while economy will get 8,9" touch screens. With a 33" seatpich in economy Brussels Airlines will offer quite generous legspace (average these days is 31 to 32") while business get full flat beds.

Brussels Airlines newest announced long haul route, Brussels-New York (BRU-JFK-BRU carrying flightnumber SN501/SN502, daily, starting on the 1st of June 2012) will be the first route which will get the new layout guaranteed. Later, all other routes (Africa) will get the new cabins.

The new cabin will get these seats:

Sorry for the late reply ;)

Personally I find the E170/E175/E190/E195 very spacious... At least when flying economy plus on United... I loved the bird very much and wouldn't hesitate to fly it again, even though I'm quite tall... I'll take an Embraer E-Jet anytime above any other commuter jet.

Been there, done that ;) Many moons ago I've had the chance to know somebody who knew someone who actually knew a C-130 pilot at the Airforce and back in the old days when it was all not so restricted I had the pleasure to fly on an Hercules C-130... Best flight ever... The C-130's are loud, they rattle and they shake, they smoke and they are old but oh boy, what was the ride fun... The STOL capability (Short Take Off & Landing) is amazing. :icon_mrgreen:

A bit aviation related. A couple of weeks ago I've ordered a winterjacket through buffaloairwear.com the merchandising site of Buffalo Airways

Friday it arrived by courier and I just love it, the only thing is, it's made for extreme winters and we don't have those here

(I tried it with just a t-shirt undernead while being -10°C outside and I still had the feeling that I was standing in 30°C temperatures. Oh well, I won't get cold I guess

Needless to say I'm a big fan of Icepilots NWT and Buffalo Airways.

I love the fleet they are operating with the DC-3's (C-47 Skytrain), DC-4 (C-54 Skymaster), the C-46 Curtiss Commando or the Lockheed L-188 Electra

After nearly 2 years of negotiating, a lot of setbacks, etc... it appears that every obstacle as been taken and that a new airlines in the Democratic Republic of Congo will soon start his operations... All paperwork has been signed and the green light has been given...

The airline will operate under a Congolese AOC (Air Operators Certificate) but the planes will be on the Belgian register (and thus flying with "OO" registrations), Belgian Aviation Authorities will be responsible for the regular safety audits, the planes will be maintained in a new build hangar in Lubumbashi by Brussels Airlines personnel. Korongo Airlines will raise the quality of air travel in Congo and will operated complying to all western (and Belgian) safetystandards.

Korongo Airlines fleet will exist out of:

1x Boeing 737-300(WL)

2x BAe 146-200

The Boeing 737-300(WL), registered OO-LTM

I completely agree that Embraer is muuuuch better than other commuter jets.

I'm headed to LAX to see my brother this summer and I'm thinking I might book United out of IAD so that I can take a 777 instead of flying Frontier out of DCA and only getting to fly in A319/320s. :P

Aircraft banner towing.

Hi,as we all know that Celine is a very poorly young lady at the moment and i do really hope she is recovering and relaxing I do hope her all the best a full recovery soon it must be very hard for a such a famous and popular singer to be in such a position who has done us all proud as fans and the inspiration and warmth celine has always given to us all exceeds no boundaries.

As a big big fan of Celine, I do have a crazy idea dont know if this could be possible to arrange but by us all dedicated fans how about a. Get well soon Celine love from your fans, message on one of these banners, these dont come cheap but I certainly would like to get involved in it if it could be arranged and supported by us all.

A good friend of mine just moved and her new apartment is very close to KBWI. We sat on her patio drinking wine and I had a great time plane watching on final approach. The airport is right across the road behind her complex so you get a great close up look! :P

Unfortunately, it's a major Southwest Airlines hub, so it was a lot of 737's and nothing big and exciting :(

Also found out some good news - Delta is flying an A319 in and out of Augusta, GA daily now so I won't have to deal with Dash-8s anymore! :clapping:

I've watched tons of Kai Tak landing videos, it looks like it was a blast! KLM seems to always have done a really great job there in most of the videos I've seen.

I think the approach into Tegucigalpa Toncontin Airport in Honduras is another great one:

I guess The nearest I ever got to was Washington national a few years back spotting, do like the approach there and as a passenger awesome it would be a awesome view on the approach.

pilots must find it very challenging and interesting for especially for the first timers approach into these type of airports.
