riobeard11 Posted December 21, 2011 at 06:06 AM Posted December 21, 2011 at 06:06 AM (edited) Flying for the holidays begins tomorrow morning! Luckily this year I don't have to set foot on a Dash 8. My jumpers are E145 both ways from Georgia and I am sitting in the single row Delta decided to kill a flight in January when I am on my way home from a cruise so now instead of taking a direct flight in an E175 each way, I get to hop on a 757 from MCO to ATL and then I'm riding in my first MD-90 from ATL to DCA. Never been in one, so I'm excited. I'm hoping the winds are right and I get to take the river approach during my flights back to DCA, it's so much fun flying along the Potomac and then making that low turn into DCA. riobeard11 Posted January 7, 2012 at 03:59 AM Posted January 7, 2012 at 03:59 AM (edited) The update! I did get the river approach on my flight home on Christmas day, but didn't get to enjoy it on the way home from Orlando. After flying in the E175 I have decided I like the 2 and 2 seating, but the plane is way too small for a tall person to be comfortable for more than an hour. I also didn't like the MD90 at all - very cramped and I just generally don't like the feel of having engines in the back on a plane that large. Oh! Almost forgot that while we were taxiing in Atlanta on our way back to DCA after our pilot made an announcement that we were delayed for traffic reasons it seems like he forgot to switch back his headset and he came back on with his response to ATC for his taxiing direction. Bellamy Posted January 8, 2012 at 01:53 AM Posted January 8, 2012 at 01:53 AM I've tried MD90 only once in America. It is very small. The smallest plane I've ever take. Actually the only 2 and 2 seating plane I've ever took. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!

Bralo20 Posted February 13, 2012 at 08:39 AM Posted February 13, 2012 at 08:39 AM OO-SFO (A330-301), first flight January 1994: http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/7/9/4/1969497.jpg This bird is currently under heavy maintenance (C-Check) at Lufthansa Technick in Malta. Unfortunately during the C-check corrossion and metal fatigue has been discovered. OO-SFO was acquired by the late Sabena back in 1997 after having flown for 3 years for the French carrier Air Inter. After the bankruptcy of Sabena the plane was picked up by Birdy Airlines (a start-through of the late CityBird) who flewn the plane for SN Brussels Airlines. Later Birdy Airlines merged together with Virgin Express and SN Brussels Airlines into Brussels Airlines. It is yet unknown how long the repairs will take to get "SFO" flying again. In the mean time, 2 additional A330's (A330-200's) have joined the fleet. 1) OO-SFY (ex-HB-IQA from Swiss): http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/9/2/2/2054229.jpg 2) OO-SFZ (ex-IQC from Swiss): http://www.planepictures.net/a/110/15/1325322926.jpg Quote ...
Bralo20 Posted February 13, 2012 at 09:02 AM Posted February 13, 2012 at 09:02 AM (edited) A month ago, Brussels Airlines (SN) launched their new long haul business & economy class. The complete A330 fleet (both A330-300 & A330-200) will be completely refurbished and a new cabin will be installed. Brussels Airlines chose to implement the RAVE AVOD IFE system from IMS (AVOD = Audio Video On Demand / IFE = Inflight Entertainment System). The RAVE system from IMS is a wireless system that has all the information stored localy in the screen. More then 100 hours of entertainment (movies, series,...) will be available. Also implemented is the Lufthansa flighttracking system where one can follow the flight on the personal screen from different perspectives. More special then this all is that Brussels Airlines opted to install one of the biggest screens available in business & economy. Business class will feature 15,3" touch screens while economy will get 8,9" touch screens. With a 33" seatpich in economy Brussels Airlines will offer quite generous legspace (average these days is 31 to 32") while business get full flat beds. Brussels Airlines newest announced long haul route, Brussels-New York (BRU-JFK-BRU carrying flightnumber SN501/SN502, daily, starting on the 1st of June 2012) will be the first route which will get the new layout guaranteed. Later, all other routes (Africa) will get the new cabins. The new cabin will get these seats: http://bartlapers.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/img_6788s.jpg http://bartlapers.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/img_6838-2s.jpg http://bartlapers.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/img_6848s.jpg Thanks to Bart Lapers for the pictures: http://www.bart.la Edited February 13, 2012 at 11:49 AM by Bralo20 Quote ...

We sat on her patio drinking wine and I had a great time plane watching on final approach. The airport is right across the road behind her complex so you get a great close up look! Unfortunately, it's a major Southwest Airlines hub, so it was a lot of 737's and nothing big and exciting Also found out some good news - Delta is flying an A319 in and out of Augusta, GA daily now so I won't have to deal with Dash-8s anymore!
