Boyd was photographed meeting with the Archdiocese to explain the song. After the meeting, the ban was lifted. Some of its songs have passed into mainstream Francophone pop culture. The story is openly referring to the kidnapping of Patricia Hearst. drove all night Posted September 29, 2012 at 05:56 PM Author Posted September 29, 2012 at 05:56 PM HABANERA / L'AMOUR EST ENFANT DE BOHÊME - CARMEN "Carmen" is one of the most beloved and known operas in the world. Composed by Georges Bizet, libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on a novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée. The opera was first performed 1875, and was not at first particularly successful. Bizet died a few months after the premiere. The "Habanera" is one of the most famous arias in the whole opera-world and a "masterpiece" for every mezzo-soprano. It sounds simply but is - indeed - very difficult to sing, without entering triviality. Regarding that Celine's voice wasn't trained classical, she did a marvellous job!!! It was re-released in November 2002 in the States.* http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/.../a/Purified.htm* http://www.marygriffin.com/discography/ And here you can read too, that her song was chosen by Celine:http://www.marygriffin.com/about/ Yeah, you are right! (BUT - off topic - I've got a feeling that they will release another single for the new album as they seem to rework everything.) And, yes, sorry! Was a typing error! Should read: 1997 And yes No. 3: I don't like Mary Griffin's version either. Noone can sing that song like CELINE!!! FIANLLY! THE CONFUSION HAS ENDED!!!I wrote Mary Griffin concerning "I surrender" and here's what she answered: She recorded it before, but her album came out 8 months after Celine's. So as we define "recorded AND released" before Celine, "I surrender" must be defined as original. Quote

drove all night Posted October 4, 2012 at 04:38 AM Author Posted October 4, 2012 at 04:38 AM (edited) Thanks to that one who uploaded Celine's version! I knew it existed, but haven't heard it until NOW!!! THANK YOUUUUU!!!! GREATEST LOVE OF ALL and NO!!!, Whitney's version wasn't the original!!!! The song, written by Michael Masser and Linda Creed, was originally recorded by George Benson for the 1977 Muhammad Ali biopic "The Greatest". But of course the song's been popularized by Whitney Houston. According to Wikipedia, Linda Creed wrote the lyrics in the midst of her struggle with breast cancer. The words describe her feelings about coping with great challenges that one must face in life, being strong during those challenges whether you succeed or fail, and passing that strength on to children to carry with them into their adult lives. Creed eventually succumbed to the disease in April 1986 at the age of 36; at the time her song was an international hit by Whitney Houston. Clive Davis, founder of Houston's label Arista Records, was initially against Houston recording the song for Whitney's debut studio album, but he eventually gave in after persuasion from Houston and Masser. It was released as the B-side to the single "You Give Good Love", a previous Top 5 hit by Houston. The song was eventually released as a single in its own right. The song, released in April 1986, was the seventh release from Houston's debut album, and spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in May of that year. In April 1987, Gordon Lightfoot filed a lawsuit against Michael Masser, alleging that Masser's song "The Greatest Love of All" stole twenty-four bars from Lightfoot's 1969 hit . According to Maclean's, Lightfoot commented, "It really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't want the present-day generation to think that I stole my song from him."
