I hate to say this, but most of the originals are still better then the covers... Even when Céline brings them...

 

Although I have to admit that Céline's versions are also very good... A nice second place

 

Except for 1... The cover of "Tears in heaven" is totally crap... Never heard such a bad performance of this extremely beatifull song. To bad

I would argue that Celine definitely brings different vocals to most of these songs, but her versions certainly aren't better than the originals. Except maybe for The Power Of Love and All By Myself...

 

But for songs like What A Wonderful World and At Last... those songs are classics and although Celine's covers are great, its like comparing apples to oranges.

I had no idea that some of those were covers! I still prefer Celine in all cases but also want to state that SOME of the originals are just as amazing. You can't mess too much with artists like Frank, but you can be just as good. That's what our girl has done! I've said it before and then I saw a video of it (how ironic), but I said she could sing the phonebook and make it amazingly beautiful.

Not meaning this to come out bad....but didnt actually realise celine did so many cover songs of other artists.....and when you think about it...some of her most popular are covered songs that have got her where she is now....i wonder where she would be at in the world today if she had sang all original songs for all her albums? xx

Near every big artist has used covers... Sometimes the covers are better then the original, sometimes not. You can't rule out covers. In a world withour covers there would be way less numbers arround. So it's actually hard to tell if she should have achieved such as succes as she had without using the covers. I assume she would had the same success although The Power of Love and All By Myself were great hits and they gave Céline some extra credibility... But in the end she has such a huge collection of her own songs that it would have given the same result without the covers. At least that's what I assume, but you can't know for sure.
