But for the lyrics of the song Quincy Jones (who names Ennio Morricone as his beloved composer), enlisted Alan and Marilyn Bergman for the lyrics and Celine as a singer for the 2007 tribute album "We All Love Ennio Morricone". So you can say it's an original in the sung version. drove all night Posted October 15, 2012 at 11:04 AM Author Posted October 15, 2012 at 11:04 AM (edited) O HOLY NIGHT ("Cantique de Noël") is according to Wikipedia composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, chrétiens" (Midnight, Christians) by Placide Cappeau (1808-1877). Cappeau, a wine merchant and poet, had been asked by a parish priest to write a Christmas poem. Unitarian minister John Sullivan Dwight, editor of Dwight's Journal of Music, created a singing edition based on Cappeau's French text in 1855. In both the French original and in the two familiar English versions of the carol, the text reflects on the birth of Jesus and of mankind's redemption.1906 Reginald Fessenden, a Canadian inventor, broadcast the first AM radio program, which started with a phonograph record of Handel's aria "Ombra mai fu" followed by Fessenden playing "O Holy Night" on the violin and singing the final verse. The carol therefore was the second piece of music to be broadcast on radio. Tenor Enrico Caruso recorded a version in 1916 which is still in print today. Of course there have been countless covers. Davey84 Posted November 13, 2012 at 03:09 PM Posted November 13, 2012 at 03:09 PM "I DROVE ALL NIGHT" Roy Orbison Cyndi Lauper Some more info on how IDAN came about! From an interview with the write Billy Steinberg Then the third cover of the song, the Celine Dion. I heard that Celine was looking for a song and that she wanted to use it as a single and for a Chrysler commercial and I knew Celine because with Rick Nowels, I wrote a song called "Falling Into You" and that was the title track of a Celine Dion album. Rick and I had co-produced "Falling Into You." We won a Grammy for it. I knew Vito Luprano her A&R man in Montreal. I called Vito and I said, "I hear you're looking for a song," and he said, "We are." I said, "I think I've got just what you're looking for." So I Federal Expressed to him Roy Orbison's version of "I Drove All Night" and I figured, because Celine is a woman, that there might be a little more competition with the Cyndi version, plus I felt that Roy's version was truer to our original vision of the song and that Roy's huge voice would somehow appeal to Celine. Sure enough they loved it. Every song publisher in the country was competing to get that and we got it. It was really satisfying. So she recorded it with a Swedish record producer (Peer Astrom) and incorporated it into her Las Vegas show. It did very well also. Funny to know Céline's team were looking for songs and there were a lot of songs competing to become part of the Chrystler deal! And they didn't pick a cover for her staight away! A the song to cover was actually offered by the writer himself! the full interview u can find here: http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/billy_steinberg/ Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Peggy Lee:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYxoAJ3Boyc Celine:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2TMHFTUU1MI have a question. This fever clip looks like a professional recording intended for the DVD. On the video, it says it was filmed in 2006. So was the show recorded in 2006 for DVD release, but then droppend and re-recorded in 2007? Quote
chocolatechip15 Posted September 18, 2015 at 01:42 AM Posted September 18, 2015 at 01:42 AM So that's the reason why they changed the name of the album ? Envoyé de mon D2203 en utilisant TapatalkYes. I'm not convinced that was the reason they changed the name. Maybe it was part of it, but they never said that officially, and a couple of other things happened: 1) They changed the concept of the album. It was originally supposed to be 6 new songs and 6 cover songs from her show. Water and a Flame was supposed to be part of that concept -"water" for the new songs, and "flame" for the covers (or maybe the other way around). Then, after the surprise massive sales success of Sans Attendre, Sony decided to invest a bit more in the album with more new songs. And that "double/opposites" concept didn't make sense anymore. 2) They got LMBTL pretty late in the game from Sia. And if you watch the recording, it's easy to see that Celine was madly in love with that song. And the title fit the theme of where she was in her career. So it made more sense as a title than Water and a Flame. 1 Quote

drove all night Posted September 18, 2015 at 07:09 AM Author Posted September 18, 2015 at 07:09 AM IF I CAN DREAM written by Walter Earl Brown with quotations of Martin Luther King. Recorded In June 1968 by Elvis Presley, two months after Martin Luther King's death. When Brown first presented the song to Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis' manager, he nearly declined it, because: "This ain't Elvis' kind of song." But Elvis wanted to record the song. Celine first performed that song on April 25, 2007 @ the charity show of American Idol "Idol Gives Back" in Kodak Theatre with a rotoscoped Elvis Presley (Watch this clip, if you are interested how this effect had been created: ) 2015 "If I can dream" is part of the setlist of the revamped version of "Celine" @ Las Vegas. drove all night Posted September 19, 2015 at 10:54 AM Author Posted September 19, 2015 at 10:54 AM KISS / PURPLE RAIN KISS:written by Prince and The Revolution. Prince first handed a short acoustic demo to the funk band Mazarati for their debut album. Mazarati and producer David Z drastically reworked the song. Prince was so amazed about their work that he decided to record it for himself and released it 1986 as a single. Two covers of that song increased the popularity: Art of Noise feat. Tom Jones version in 1988 and Julia Roberts bath tub-interpretation in the movie that made her a star: "Pretty woman", 1990. Prince:http://www.myvideo.at/watch/2528458 Art of Noise feat. The song was recorded during a benefit concert for the "Minnesota Dance Theatre" in Minneapolis on August 3, 1983. Prince worried that the song sounded too similar to "Faithfully" by Jonathan Cain which had been in the charts at that time. But Cain reassured Prince that everything would be ok, and that the song only shared the same four chords.
