I'd present the following guide to rarity and approximate prices.

Each item's rarity is placed into one of the following categories (in order of increasing rarity):

Common.

Not common, but offered for sale relatively often.

Offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely.

Rarely offered for sale.

Practically mythical.

Almost unheard of.

Price guide (approximate cost in US $ for copies in EX condition excluding shipping costs):

<$20 Cheap

$20-$60 Moderate

$60-$110 Relatively high prices

$110-$200 High prices

>$200 Very expensive

These are subjective, and have a certain degree of fluidity, due to changing market conditions.

As a general guide, items in the same category should be of comparable (but not necessarily identical) rarity. Some items may be on the borderline between categories. My rarity classifications will probably be debateable to a certain degree, but hopefully no-one will advocate moving items up or down more than one category. I've try to classify items based on rarity, rather than desirability.

A quatre pas d'ici: Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate to relatively high prices.

Have a Heart: Practically mythical. Rarely offered for sale, very expensive.

Des mots qui sonnent: Practically mythical. Rarely offered for sale, very expensive.

Quelqu'un que j'aime, quelqu'un qui m'aime: Practically mythical. Rarely offered for sale, very expensive.

Did You Give Enough Love: Practically mythical. Rarely offered for sale, very expensive.

Just Walk Away: Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate to relatively high prices, but bargains are not unheard of. Quite a few copies on the market are in less than ideal condition. Upper grade copies are scarcer.

Destin: Not sure if there was ever a physical CD single for this?

Le ballet: Offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely. Moderate to relatively high prices.

J'irai où tu iras: Not sure if there was ever a physical CD single for this?

(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman: Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate prices. The Australian promo CD (for the solo version) is less common, while the various promo CDs for the Divas version are more common.

Make You Happy: Rarely offered for sale. High prices.

Dreamin' of You: Practically mythical. Rarely offered for sale, very expensive.

Les derniers seront les premiers (live): Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate prices.

When I Need You: Rarely offered for sale. High prices.

Amar haciendo el amor: Almost unheard of. I've never seen a copy for sale, but it'd almost certainly go for an exceptionally high price on eBay.

I Hate You Then I Love You: Almost unheard of. Rarely offered for sale, very expensive.

Miles to Go (Before I Sleep): Not sure if there was ever a physical CD single for this?

En attendant ses pas: Rarely offered for sale. High prices.

Je crois toi: Practically mythical. Rarely offered for sale, high prices to very expensive.

The Prayer: The US "For Your Consideration" promo CD is not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate to relatively high prices. The European promo CD is rarely offered for sale, with high prices. Several releases (with only Andrea Bocelli, rather than Celine on the cover) are more common.

Don't Save It All for Christmas Day: Not sure if this promo CD is genuine. Having "Promotional CD" written on the cover seems a bit unusual to me, and the few images that I've seen of it aren't of particularly high resolution. If it is real, it would be almost unheard of and prices would likely be very expensive.

Ave Maria: Rarely offered for sale. Moderate prices, as it's only a plain CD, with no alternative versions or picture sleeves.

Dans un autre monde: Not sure if there was ever a physical CD single for this?

Then You Look at Me: Almost unheard of. The Chilean promo (with picture sleeve) would be very expensive. The US promo would probably be moderate to relatively high prices.

If Walls Could Talk: I think eil.com had a promo CD from Canada for this song at one point. If this is correct and/or there are other versions of this single in circulation (perhaps a few copies of a canceled release leaked out), they would be almost unheard of. Prices would probably be high or very expensive, although they would likely depend on whether there are any rare tracks featured and/or a picture sleeve.

Aún Existe Amor: Practically mythical. Rarely offered for sale. Very expensive.

At Last: Offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely. Moderate prices.

Stand by Your Side: Rarely offered for sale. High prices.

Faith: Rarely offered for sale. Very expensive.

Contre nature: Offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely. Possibly rarely offered for sale. Relatively high prices. The promo DVD is practically mythical.

Je lui dirai: Rarely offered for sale. High prices.

You and I: The European promo CD is common and cheap. The Australian CD is offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely (or even rarely offered for sale), with relatively high prices.

Beautiful Boy: The picture sleeve versions are rarely offered for sale and attract relatively high prices. The versions without picture sleeve are a bit more common.

Miracle: Offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely. Moderate to relatively high prices.

In Some Small Way: Offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely. A year ago, I would have said rarely offered for sale or practically mythical, but there seems to have been quite a few on eBay in the past few months. This might be a temporary surge, so maybe I'll re-evaluate this rating in a few months. Eitherway, high prices to very expensive.

Immensité: Rarely offered for sale. Relatively high prices.

Le temps qui compte: Not sure if the promo CD images floating around are genuine. If they are, this would be practically mythical or even almost unheard of. I'd guess high prices as well.

On s'est aimé à cause: Not sure if there was ever a physical CD single for this?

A cause: Rarely offered for sale (Although I'd say this is bordering on the offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely category). Relatively high prices.

Alone: The European promo is offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely. Relatively high prices. The US promo is more common. The Korean promo (if it's genuine) is rarer.

Michael's Song: Rarely offered for sale. Moderate to relatively high prices.

A very merry chipmunk: Rarely offered for sale. Moderate to relatively high prices.

Send Me a Lover: Not sure if there was ever a physical CD single for this?

It's Hard to Say Goodbye: Almost unheard of. High prices to very expensive.

You've Got a Friend: Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate prices.

God Bless America: Common. Cheap to moderate prics.

What More Can I Give: Not sure if there was ever a physical CD single for this?

You Shook Me All Night Long: Rarely offered for sale. Moderate prices.

Sing: There's a commercial single for this. Common and cheap.

La ballade de Michel: Borderline between not common, but offered for sale relatively often and offered for sale infrequently, but not rarely. Moderate prices.

Plus haut que moi: Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate to relatively high prices.

Pleur dans la pluie: Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Moderate to relatively high prices.

Ma Nouvelle-France: Not common, but offered for sale relatively often. Cheap to moderate prices.

Tout près du bonheur: Rarely offered for sale, perhaps even practically mythical. High prices.

And what about "If walls could talk", it was cancelled but I saw a cd once on eBay, it's a fake CD, isn't it?

I seem to recall eil.com having a promo CD from Canada at one point (I saw it listed on their site, but sold out, in 2005 - I might have the information saved somewhere on my old computer). There's also a small chance that a few copies of various cancelled releases (such as the Australian release) leaked out. But I've never actually seen anyone with a real, physical copy of an "If Walls Could Talk" single, so I'd be inclined to say that the copy you saw on eBay was probably fake. I don't suppose you saved any pictures or other information from the listing?

Sorry dear Moderator ^_^ BUT I think this is not fair to put this topic into that general questions topic!

Ok the "general questions" and "showcase your collection" are interesting. But they don't allow to emphasize on special themes on the long term. A specialized section regarding singles, and promo singles would allow more focused information to emerge I think... And would be helpful to people who can't spend so much time on the forum to find precise information on special categories of items.

There are currently 56 pages of questions... Most of which will never be read anymore, because the topic is too "general"

I even think there could be collector's topics in various specialized categories :

- promo only singles

- commercial singles

- albums special editions

- samplers

Anyway... Just a personal opinion :)

hmm I don't agree, we have a great search option, that nobody seems to know about! plus I don't know if you have the collectors list, but that could also be a great help with collecting

I have the collector's list and love it and can't wait for the next edition with new references but it's theory. It's funnier to have real fans reacting to special precise questions with pictures and infos like it works here on the forum.

As for the search option it's true I personnally never use it, I'm gonna try to enter singles names to see if it works well...

The Canadian promo I recall seeing on eil.com around 2005 is not this one. (While it's not inconceivable that a few copies of this cancelled Australian release may have leaked out, I don't think eil.com ever had it in stock.) For some reason, certain items, including this one, that I distinctly recall seeing on eil.com at various times cannot be found through their "Full Discography" database. (Or I could be going crazy. :o) There's a good chance I may have saved some information on the Canadian release from eil.com, but it'd be on my old computer and might take some time to dig up. I'll try to look for it when I have time.

There's an In Some small way onsale on ebay :P

What does it inspire you ? price ? authentic ?

There's no doubt it's genuine.

The current price would be cheap for this item, but there are still several days to go...

I shouldn't have put this on the forum lol, maybe some fans weren't aware and are going to make offers, thus making prices jump higher  :hmm:

While there is no doubt it is genuine as you said, it s not such a cool item, as there is no back cover, it must look very cheap and "acetate"like :-(

Unfortunately that's the reality of recent promos. However, it is packaged more elaborately than many recent promos (that just come in plain card sleeves), it has a gorgeous front cover photo and it features the exclusive and rare radio edit version. It's a great item!

I love my copy in a way many people who aren't collectors would probably consider disturbing. :-D

lol

It's "sad" that recent promos are so poor quality

I bought I'm alive promo 2009 remixes, it looks so fake, I thought it was really fake until John from the forum told me it's normal.

Today I bought Contre nature, En attendant ses pas and A cause.

The official radio edit of ISSW is absolutely not rare! It was included on many radio promo compilation! It's 3:45 long!

The 1st chorus and the 2nd verse have been omitted! Nothing special...

I agree when I bought Eyes on me promo CD, everyone around me thought it was fake!

Digital download? Where?

The cover came up from a music site from Poland. Don't remember if it was Itunes, Sony Poland or what.

I wouldn't think it would be too much of surprise to see Falling Into You released as a 15th (or 20th anniversary special edition) It was album of the Year at the Grammys after all. I am still dissapointed about the Unison one, but maybe for the 25th. (yeah right)

Realistically I don't know how long more CD's are going to be commercially viable, so teh sooner Celines get re-released as S.E.'s the better.

On a side note, did anyone here bid for, and win, that VH1 Divas Sampler that went on Ebay today. It sold for $148.

Which sampler? :)

This one... :)

Interesting synopsis of the rarity of those items Andrew, thanks for that. I's agree almost completley with your synopsis at this point in time. As you say it is impossible to be accurate about these things. It's very satisfying to be able to tick off the list as you go through it. I sometimes don't realise how lucky I am to have so many of these rarities. (But there are still a few on there that I haven't got yet, and sadly probably never will. But I guess there would be no fun in collecting if you had all the big ones)

Olivier, that's some nice stuff you got there. You are on fire!! :fireman2:

Does anybody have LTQC & OSAAC single covers please for my iTunes :)

Some of these covers are fake (Did you know?) e.g. In Some Small Way, I Believe In You, Destin (never released as a single) I have never seen a cover for DYGEL, Doubt very much this is real. Also Tout Pres Du Bonheur, that is not the actual cover art, it's just similar and it was a physical promo, not just digital, I own a copy.

You can visit my site below, it may be of some help.

What other releases was it issued on? As far as I knew, it was only issued on the promo CD. But I could be wrong.

But even if it was more widely available than just the promo CD, I'd hesitate to call it "absolutely not rare", as there would still be many songs and alternative versions much easier to track down than this.

As for it being "nothing special", I guess all radio edits are simply album versions with material removed - that's the reality of what a radio edit is. In fact, off the top of my head, I can't think of any Celine radio edits that are anything more special than that.

Many non-collectors would probably argue, for example, that having a "S'il Suffisait D'aimer" CD single with "I'm Your Angel" rather than "Tous Les Blues Sont Ecrits Pour Toi" is nothing special, especially given that their covers are the same and all the tracks are readily available on albums. They'd probably go as far to say that given that all the tracks on both single are album tracks, it's nothing special to have any "S'il Suffisait D'aimer" CD singles at all! So many of all of our purchases are not based on the notion that a given difference is substantial - only the fact that there is a difference is important.

I like radio edits because they offer fresh perspectives on songs that I'm otherwise very familiar with. It's also good for a rare CD to have a rare track, even if it's not hugely different from the album version. I like to be able to get something new to listen to, rather than just a CD/vinyl/cassette to look at.

It's definitely fake. But I like it alot. It'd be great if it was real! Someone was selling a very nice "Did You Give Enough Love" bootleg on eBay a few months ago with another nice cover.

I also like the basic idea for the "Destin" cover, although the title text makes the whole thing look fake.

I agree with u.

But singles with non-album tracks are must have though :-)

Ziggy with English version

LCMM with Cry just a little

IYAMT with LYB

PQTMAE with Send me a lover

Unison with Can't live with you

GTSW with ABOY and YSMANL

TC with MTMH

(TRIGO and MTMH on Ultimate box or Japan Version)

They'd probably go as far to say that given that all the tracks on both single are album tracks, it's nothing special to have any "S'il Suffisait D'aimer" CD singles at all! So many of all of our purchases are not based on the notion that a given difference is substantial - only the fact that there is a difference is important.
