I hope what she as the articles says "gets some pop vocal nominations" but I have sick gut feeling she'll be shut out again.......but hey, this guy thinks she'll get some in the pop feild! Read below:

The Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift and B.B. King are among the artists who have been tapped to perform at the Grammy nomination television special on Dec. 3. This will mark the second year running that the Foo Fighters and Swift have partaken in the annual Grammy press conference, which unveil the nominees in all 100-plus categories.

Other artists in line to appear on the one-hour program include Celine Dion and John Mayer. With the exception of country upstart Swift, who was nominated for best new artist at the Grammy Awards that were handed out in February, all artists set to perform are previous Grammy winners. Historically, artists appearing at the Grammy nomination press conference are a lock for a nomination or two.

As reported last week, this will be the first time in Grammy history that the nominations have been unveiled on a prime time CBS special. "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!! -- Countdown to Music's Biggest Night" is set to air live for viewers on the East Coast at 10 p.m., and will be held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

The Foo Fighters, who were recently quoted in the NME as intending to go on a long break, are Grammy favorites, having taken part in last year's fan-voted "My Grammy Moment" contest. While the act's "Echo, Silence, Patience and Grace" was nominated for an album of the year trophy last year, the Dave Grohl-led mainstream rockers should be a safe bet for some single nominations in the rock field.

Similarly, expect some single nominations for Swift, whose appearance here is more to hype her upcoming album "Fearless," which is due to be in stores Nov. 11. Nevertheless, tracks from her self-titled 2006 album, including "Picture to Burn" and "Should've Said No," will be eligible in the country field.

While Swift never had a real shot at beating Amy Winehouse last year for best new artist, her long-term Grammy potential is solid, as she's more pop than Nashville, and has become one of the music industry's safest, runway-success stories of the past two years.

Dion's "Taking Chances" missed Grammy eligibility last year, having been released in late November. While the album came packed with plenty of pop smarts, including collaborations with R&B star Ne-Yo and Linda Perry (Pink), as well as Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody, it received poor-to-mixed reviews. It debuted high, but the album was soon lost in the holiday shuffle. Her appearance at the Dec. 3 special likely foretells some pop vocal nominations, but it would be a surprise to see Dion in the overall record or album fields.

King released two albums in 2008, a live effort and and a well-received blues effort, "One Kind Favor," which should will get nominated in the blues fields. The legend already has 14 awards to his name, spanning the blues, rock, pop, R&B and folk categories.

Mayer, however, is the new Sting, as far as Grammy voters are concerned. Everything the man touches ends up with a nomination, and he already has five wins to his name. Expect his "Bucket List" single "Say" to score a nomination, or perhaps a rock collaboration nod for this guesting on Fall Out Boy's cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It," which, if nominated, will kick-start the yearly rumours regarding Jacko's appearance at the telecast.

The Grammy nomination special is open to the public. Tickets will go on sale Oct. 27 via Ticketmaster outlets, and proceeds will beneft the soon-to-open Grammy Museum. On the Ticketmaster website, tickets are listing as ranging from $50 to $500, not including service fees. Pre-sales begin Oct. 23.

The Grammy Awards will air Feb. 8, 2009.

Interesting article from the LA Time! Thanks Kyle!

For some reason, I'm still holding my breath...

But it would be great and very welcome to see Celine get at least one nomination! :jump:

It could help boost her career and her current single, and even the next single (if Sony decides to take some chances, which I doubt...)

Sony could still release another single from Taking Chances after My Love if she gets a nomination...

Boo yah Celine- That's right, I said BOO YAHHH!!!!

I so, so, hope that not only is she nominated, but she gets the honor of marching her hot a** up there to the drums of there comes a time and thanks the academy for her latest grammy! OMD- What a wonderful moment for her to get some recognition!! Celine is not washed up!! She is here, still making new music! Time for the critics to get off her back!

I hope she doesn't sing MHWGO or ABM again at the Grammys. She wasn't nominated for ABM when she sang it, but since it was the album's single at the time, she performed that.

well if it was live I wouldn't complain! :giggle: oh oke, so she was nominated for BYLM, but Toni Braxton won it? :hmm:

Yes, Toni Braxton was still high on the charts, and since "Un-Break My Heart" had been 11 weeks number one on the charts, it was fresh on the ears of the voters, and took the award.

Hope she will sing "Love Can Move Mountains", tho. Can't live without that jam! YEAH!

you never know..it's on the GH :P

If she sings that, I swear I'll become a full-time lamb -_-

Translation: My lambiness will reach 100%, and now it is 99.5%

I wouldn't underestimate TCH's ability to win Best Pop Vocal Album. :bye1: What would be more surprising is if Celine beats Leona Lewis in the female pop vocal performance category.

Oh My!!!!!!!!!! That's so amazingly awesome and sweet! It just made my day. Another thing to look forward to and I can't wait. I'll probably end up recording it now that Celine is going to be on there. Hopefully she will get a nomination and an award. I still think that she could make it into the charts. Everyone just has to have faith.

I do think that Taking Chances should be acknowledged - maybe not for best album...but there some individual songs that are completely different for Celine - and 100 percent superior to the "songs" on the radio today. "My Love", "Taking Chances", her rendition of "Alone" - and a few other stand out tracks.

It would be fantastic if she won a Grammy in this decade!

And, again....my prediction is she will sing "My Love" - since it is her current single, and she's got it mastered.

Posted

I Love ML But too boring she needs to produce an UPBEAT song with dancers and ton of energy ( LLike the Best for example) something like Eyes on Me, I'm Alive Remix, One Heart, or That's The Way it Is.....

Something Fast and upbeat.

Thats right Shellbie but a Grammy is going to be hard to get

She need that break and come back FULL THROTTLE ready to take on the world...maybe a huge duet to make that happen with JTimberlake or even bad blood Mariah Carey.

Celine does deserve a nomination for "My Love" and for best Pop Vocal album for Taking Chances......Along with a nomination in the "Long form" music video for "a new day..", I mean that sold tons! and it was spectacular show!

That being said, her only chance of actually "winning'' a Grammy at this years ceremony will be for "Live in las vegas..a new day"--. Actually if Celine won the award for "best longform music video-A new day.." it would be pretty cool....because she already has Grammys for "Record of the Year" "Album of the Year" "Pop Female Vocal" and "Pop Collaboration" AND "Pop album." If she won the video one she woud have virtually completed every major category!
