SuperLove4Celine Posted November 4, 2008 at 03:04 AM Posted November 4, 2008 at 03:04 AM Sadly, reasons like Allana's represent too many americans. It makes me ashamed. Personally, I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm ashamed because somebody doesn't share the same view I do. There are many variables that go into each persons' viewpoints. Some include, but are not limited to, environment, personal history, media, etc. Being a gay man it may shock some of you to know I was considering voting yes on proposition 8. However, I have changed my mind, BUT I can promise you that I have a hunch that 99% of the people on here wouldn't be able to figure out my reasons for voting for or against this one. I still think McCain can pull it off when the young voters won't go out and vote. Sadly, I think you're right about young voters not going out and actually doing what they're promising to do. I've seen it happen all too often. I hope we're wrong, though. Especially when you read very liberal news sources and how they are making Obama already having won the lekshun. 5 point lead is nothing these days. Unfortunately. And I'm not for any conspiracy theory - polls are polls and the reality is the reality. Two different things. Not necessarily. Al Gore technically got the popular vote in 2000, but Bush got the electoral vote. I'd personally like to see the electoral college abolished. If America wants to vote for someone who ends up screwing us over that's our own darn fault (American's). I don't need a system put into place to help "protect me" from myself or the majority. I will be voting! Not for Obama though...sorry. I love all my fellow Celine fans and respect who you choose as your president, but I cannot whole-heartily cast my vote for a man like Obama. His views are too liberal, and I am sorry we may disagree. I know many of you are pro-choice here. I am pro-life. I hope you can respect that. The most innocent of life is at the mercy of our hands. They have done no wrong have they? And yet the aborted survivors have taken their firsts breaths of life and are left to suffer and die. I'm sorry but saving the life of the innocent child is more important to me than my checkbook. I know you all will find other reasons to give me to sway my opinion, or maybe you won't? I dunno. All I know is he voted 4 times against medical care for these babies, his reasoning was because the bill was not in the same language as the federal...but that has been debunked. Then his next response was because it would burden the original decision that was made to abort the baby. Well I will stop now, because I am more than certain everyone knows the facts and have made their mind on who they will vote for. So in hopes I will not receive and harassment letters on the board or in my inbox...I will now click the post button! lol Love ya!Alanna Thanks for sharing your opinion Alanna! It's nice that we live in a country where we have free speech and people are able to have their opinions! I know that you are pro-life and I totally respect that. I have been in the past, but I am wavering on that a little bit. I think it's a very fine line, but in the long run I don't feel that I have the ability to judge somebody who was raped or a victim of incest. It's not my decision to make. That's the very reason why I will be voting for Obama tomorrow. The Iraq war is one of the most important things to me. I think it's gone on WAY TOO long and we seem to have accomplished nothing. I can't support a man (that man being McCain) who is willing to spend our money, spend our troops, spend innocent lives on this war until Al Queda (?sp) is out of Iraq (that is exactly what he says on his website. If he is the next president we WILL be in Iraq, in the war until al queda is GONE...now to that is an impossible task that could never happen). That doesn't make sense to me. We have SOOOOOOOOOO much going on at home. We can't run our own dam country, so obviously we shouldn't be trying to run another. This is just my 2 cents. Everybody needs to get out and vote tomorrow, regardless of who you vote for. It's your duty as an American citizen!!!! btw, this is freaking hilarious...a prank call to Sarah Palin from a radio station in Montreal!!! Oh Canada we love you!!!! Sarah Palin Prank Call Well said! What time on the 4th can America start voting? Is there an official starting time or anything? I believe here in California our polls open at 7:00 AM. I'm voting before I go to work. God only knows how long I'll be in line, though. LOL - Joe Quote
Love, Posted November 4, 2008 at 07:53 AM Posted November 4, 2008 at 07:53 AM So, I got a note from a friend a little while ago, and I just had to reply: [Dear Friend] Thank you for your email and sharing your thoughts with me. I respect your opinion, and I'm glad you respect mine as well. You shouldn't be sorry for me and for my choice, because I believe that I made the right choice. If tomorrow, Obama wins, I will agree that Americans made the right choice. This election alone, I have over 10 friends who are running for public office in my city and my region. So, the political buzz is all around me. I run an international film arts organization. My vision and picture of the world is different, because I've traveled the world, work with people from all around the world on a daily basis, and experience the arts and stories of people from all diverse backgrounds through cinema, my connections and my travels. I do feel blessed about these opportunities. Through this, I know that I have a bigger picture of the world than many people here in America. My mind is open, my heart is open, my hands are open, and my eyes are open. I'm not here to brain-wash anyone. I just wanted to put it out there that I think it's a stupid decision to vote for McCain - not saying that the voter himself/herself is stupid. It's clear and simple. I have my opinion on Palin. It's not just the way she speaks, the tone of her voice or her look. She insults people, she beats around the bush, she makes blunt jokes, she doesn't know what she's talking about many times, and she clearly is not ready to serve America. The McCain and Palin campaign is a JOKE. There were many times when she just makes fun of people - like Biden with his age, while she's running a campaign with the oldest man who has ever run for president on his first term! And then she mocks community leaders in her address at the RNC with "Since when is a "community organizer" such a big bad thing to the Republicans? I mean, aren't delegates essentially--nay, actually--community organizers? And shouldn't Republicans, along with all Americans, encourage all citizens to be community organizers?" I am a arts and community leader and I think she's rude for having said that - especially since it was on a podium of a major program to introduce herself to the public. And she does not even know what her role is, if she were to become Vice President. There was an instance where she started beating around the bush when a 3rd grader asked her the question, and she started using big words to answer the child. Poor kid could barely understand her. That's stupid. Alaska is NOT an example of America, let alone the World. Alaska is its own "island" up north, away from America. Alaska has the largest land area of any State in America, but it has a population of 683,478 people, twice that of my mid-sized Californian city. 69.3% of single-race Alaska residents are Caucasian. It's such a large state in size, yet there are so few people - so the environment does not conduce people to be as connected... There's not a lot of issues to deal with in Alaska, so her role is much easier. The word "governor" is just a word. On a side note: I, myself, have had more international public relations experience than Palin. Regarding Obama's governmental experience - he has taught legislature and government education. He studied genocide and warfare. Obama is a Senator from Illinois, where the city of Chicago alone has over 3 million. Chicago is an international city, in fact, one of the world's twenty-five largest urban areas by population. It's a place of multi-culturalism... I'm sure Chicago has 100 times the diversity of the population than Alaska, and complexities of bigger scales than the entire State of Alaska. And it's so densely population that people have to bump into each other and have to get to know each other. And it matters, because you and me know that opportunities for us would not be the same if we lived in Alaska, because of our ethnic background. The way people think, feel, see, experience, live, and love is absolutely influenced by their surroundings and their environments. And talking about experience - that's why he has a serious, professional, and amazing partner - Mr. Biden, one of the most respected, most-intelligent, highly-experienced people in the American government. So, since you don't believe in anything that Obama stands for... (I'm just quoting you) that means that you don't believe in protecting our environment and resources? You don't believe that every man and woman should have healthcare or even access to healthcare? You don't believe that we should get the hell out of this economic mess? You don't believe that the war in Iraq was a mistake (and that we had enemies in Afganistan but President Bush went and attacked the country next to it for no reason at all)? You don't believe in the power of the ordinary people? You don't believe in the middle class? You don't believe in a fair tax plan? You don't believe that God gives us each a choice? And just for the record, since we both are Christians. Obama was and is a Christian. Peace,S. Quote

However, Calafornia is 3 hours behind me, and Alaska is 4 hours behind me...so it will be a long night of watching TV for us, as each state closes their polls.
