amyja89 Posted January 20, 2009 at 04:21 PM Posted January 20, 2009 at 04:21 PM I'm watching the BBC's coverage and it really does feel like something amazing is happening. My 13 year old brother came straight home from school especially to watch it, and he normally spends about 3 hours in town with his friends! Quote

Timster Posted January 20, 2009 at 06:36 PM Posted January 20, 2009 at 06:36 PM I'm so glad Obama is now officially president! I was really nervous cos loads of people in my school were saying how he was going to get asassinated and I was really upset by their thoughts. Bralo20 Posted January 20, 2009 at 07:07 PM Posted January 20, 2009 at 07:07 PM I'm so glad Obama is now officially president! I was really nervous cos loads of people in my school were saying how he was going to get asassinated and I was really upset by their thoughts. I think today starts a new chapter in the history of America! I'm really happy that Barack Hussein Obama is now offially the new president of the United States. Maybe things will really change now... And contrary to you I wasn't affraid that he would be assassinated for, during or after the innauguration... Like expected he reached out his hand to every single country in the world. If he can hold his promises things will eventually change... Not today neither tommorow but after a while... Like Mr. Willy Claes, former Secretary General of NATO, said on Belgian television that no country will mourn about the ending of the Bush period... I think that most of the countries throughout the world are happy that the cowboy got back to his ranch in Texas. Let's hope that Obama can indeed make changes... Quote ...

Nmj Posted January 21, 2009 at 11:46 PM Author Posted January 21, 2009 at 11:46 PM You Know after Barack Hussien Obama was sworn in (this might sound corny but) it seemed it became brighter outside...Like a huge weight was lifted off our shoulders... I loved how he acknowldeged the Muslim world saying that there are lots of great muslim people... I also loved how he said to all the other nations that We (the USA) are ready to lead the world again, we are ready to set examples for the other nations and become one of the most respected Nations again...!! The White House has a great family in it now, and I'm proud! -Nmj Quote

cdclore Posted January 22, 2009 at 05:04 PM Posted January 22, 2009 at 05:04 PM In reference to earlier comments, I don't think Palin is stupid - I just don't think she was right/ready for the job. I also think she was used by the McCain camp - sort of as a scapegoat. What happened on Nov. 5th? (And even a little before then...) The McCain camp started to unravel. It was a huge blame game complete with pointing fingers! They trashed Palin and accused her not only of being unintelligent, but greedy, too! What a way to treat your own and to completely take the blame off of yourself. This being said, I am not and never was for McCain/Palin but you have to admit, no matter who you voted for, it was a complete mess the day after the election. What a shame! And to think, they could have been leading our country today. Quote
cdclore Posted January 23, 2009 at 12:16 AM Posted January 23, 2009 at 12:16 AM Am I the only one who thought Palin's face was hilarious during McCain's losing speech. She looked so "happy" No, I saw that as well and the thing that came up on my mind was Tina Fey taking out the 'Palin 2012' t-shirts when McCain was there on SNL :mdr: When McCain delivered speech that night, Palin wanted to speak, also but was told that she shouldn't/couldn't thus the unhappy look. And again, as I said earlier, a lot of "drama" had started between the McCain camp and Sarah Palin. I'm sure she felt completely used. She should have never run in the first place and in the end she was just a pawn, it seems. Quote
Nmj Posted January 23, 2009 at 12:21 AM Author Posted January 23, 2009 at 12:21 AM Barack Obama has got more things done in two days than George W Bush in his last 4 years He Signed the Bill to Close Guantomo Bay in CubaHe put a hold on all Bush policiesHe is doing away with tourtureand asked Hillary Clinton to go to the Middle East really soon to work on peace talks!and working on a Stimulus Package all of these in the first two DAYS!!!-Nmj Quote
cdclore Posted January 23, 2009 at 12:38 AM Posted January 23, 2009 at 12:38 AM Also, I think having "unrealistically high expectations" is being confused with having hope. No one expects the world to change automatically and if they do they're delusional. It's going to take a great deal of time to correct some of the damage that has been created. Even Obama said that we all need to be completely realistic instead of being cynical. It's all going to take time and I think that what people should realize is that we need to rely on ourselves for change just like we do on our President. Whether or not you agree with who is in office, he remains our leader. Being bitter about the situation does nothing but bring about more negativity. Quote

Prince Whiskers Posted January 23, 2009 at 10:40 AM Posted January 23, 2009 at 10:40 AM (edited) Let's see how he tackles the big mess in Iraq. The Bush admin's assertion about "liberating the Iraqi people from tyranny and bringing them democracy" made me cringe given the US history of having supported dictatorships in other countries. Well, I will probably get jumped for saying my opinion and have everyone all over my a$$ for saying that I think that Palin was right for the job. I think that people were just scared to have a female president because this country has been run by men. Well, men don't always do that great a job at everything. The female barrier has been broken for so many things so hopefully in 2012, it can be broken for this too.
