In case someone of you reads something about the process of drying that piece and getting it into "La Galerie", I would be grateful for a link! Thanks!

I’m curious how they even dried it in between the rainy rehearsal the night before and the performance! Wonder how they even made something so delicate rain-resilient…

So I’m not actually a fashion person, but you have so helped me come to appreciate it by unveiling all the goes into Celine’s looks! Thank you!! ☺️

There’s nothing “delicate” about a gown made up of 1,000s of beads. It was well-built, for sure!

The structural part of the gown must be a heavy duty fabric — durable enough to hold the weight of all those strands — but the visible layer of the gown would be a lightweight fabric. The strands would be sewn through both to anchor them into place, and any part touching her skin (the bodice & sleeves in particular) would be lined with something silky. Honestly, I’m very curious to know how much it weighs!

To dry it, I could see a team of people using hairdryers, and then steaming it again to get rid of any wrinkles and make sure it hangs properly. I imagine it would be a process, but probably wouldn’t take as long as you may think if several people were simultaneously working on it.

I've also written to Dior regarding this "drying such a delicate robe". Maybe I'll get an answer, and then I'll post it up here. Surely they not only have the right techniques, but also experiences since centuries, how to clean and dry an over-and-over embroidered Haute-Coutre-gown. If you watch the picture of the "making-of", you can see how thin the fabric is, on which the pearls, beads and sequins were sewed.

I am happy to read that even you are that much into fashion you still like my postings! It's funny: When Frida started with this thread in 2008 I wasn't into fashion either. I just know the big Couture houses, and not much more. But that was so interesting what Frida (who studied fashion) found that I really became a interested too. And it's really fun to search and find pieces - but VERY VERY laborious from time to time. But if you watch those piece Céline was wearing and discover details you become aware that couture is really an art, mainly Haute Couture!

So - stay tuned. My collection is meanwhile very big. And as long as people up here are interested I continue posting.

Dior released that information:

"Made of pristine silk georgette and embroidered with thousands of pearls, piercing sparkles and decadent sequins, including around of 500 meters of pearl/beads fringing. Over 1.000 hours were needed to create it." So I also believe it was quite heavy. Additional Céline wore something underneath to fix the safety rope on her back. I assume it might have been something like a corset, custom made too, to not show through the dress itself, but still be so secure in case of emergency. I guess Scott was also fixed with a rope, since there was no railing on top of that roof.

Dior-team certainly have a lot of experiences to quick-dry a lavishly embroidered Haute Couture robe. Such a pity that this one moderator of the "Today"-report interrupted the head of "La Galerie de Dior", as he already wanted to explain the process. But, anyway. Maybe more information about that will leak one day or the other.

This was Céline's outfit for the long night rehearsal on July 25, 2024. Not all liked it, but that's not our right to judge. Céline wanted to feel comfortable and chose these pieces, with the very classy blue/ecru "Dior Oblique motif" (was introduced in 1969). She also was wearing something underneath (you can catch a glimpse of the sleeve). One can guess it was either a tight jumpsuit or shirt to keep her warm, or something to support her muscles, or something that was a part of the "system" to eventually fix the safety rope.

The boots she has also worn on other occasions. Always interesting to see some of her favorite things.

I’m an admirer, that’s for sure. But I don’t follow trends closely. Started sewing a few years ago, and I’ve made several clothing items (including costumes for my drag-burlesque persona).

I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of Céline “baggy streetwear & chunky sneakers” looks, but I do love these over-sized tuxedo shirts and her “tailored” looks!

And PS: On her departure from Paris she wasn't using it, must be of someone else.

Great, that you are a fashion-admirer. And to love fashion doesn't mean at the same time loving to follow trends. Some trends are quite "odd". For me it was always to find your own style, regardless if someone has the money to buy Couture, or Second Hand clothes, or affordable mass-produced pieces or sews own clothes.

Yeah, the Céline's "baggy streetwear" is not everybody's favorite. But I can understand her joy to wear it - mainly after such a long career where she mostly needed to be totally dressed up - and before Annie became her main stylist René also had the last word with a lot for her clothes. - But, don't get me wrong, I don't think, that she "suffered" from that. But in most of the interviews she did after Law Roach became her stylist one could read between the lines, that she totally enjoyed just playing with fashion, and really wearing what she liked, really playing with fashion pieces and sometimes also going totally "crazy" (like that horrible long Balmain snakeskin coat).

Looks like the last picture. Her phone is different. It looks like the latest iPhone since the lens got larger and I think the case she’s using is the FineWoven same as mine

Yes, as I've mentioned in my posting (in the "PS), that she was using another phone on her departure of Paris! thumbsup2.gif - But thanks for the hint regarding "FineWoven".

Céline definitively traveled with "light" luggage, since she wore many pieces more often than once. Here's her outfit of the Paris departure day (July 27, 2024). The jacket, shoes and sunglasses you can find on my posting @ page 370 / #11094

The watch - or better said "Chronograph" as I meanwhile know - was a cooperation-find: The brand was found by celine_dion_faces, and the correct model with the help of some true "Breitling-nerds" (you won't believe how many VERY SIMILAR models of Breitlings are "out there"!!!!)

The shirt only has my "working title". The label of it is nearly impossible to find! You won't believe it either how many white T's are out there ...

This is a part of the outfit she chose for that day where in the evening again she wrote history, when she left "Le Royal Monceau" in Paris to head for the "Olympic Opening Ceremony".

The jacket was found by celine_dion_faces. Sunglasses found by my as well as the boots (> scroll up, posting #11135).

The shirt and the pants are still missing. If someone likes to give it a try to find them: Be my guest! Therefore I included some of the gettyImages which can be zoomed for more details on fabric and sewing. Presumably they are either Celine or Christian Dior. But not sure on that. It's not as easy as it looks, because you won't believe how many seemingly similar shirts and pants are out there!

Do you also like to know a little bit about RC's Paris Outfits? Actually searching the outfits of Céline's beloved sons is kind of "vacation" for me, as they do have favorite labels and those mostly have imprinted labels or logos, which makes the search very easy! giggle.gif

Today I have something for you that always touches my heart. And although I don't know (and certainly it's none of my business) - but somehow I believe that RC wears René's LV-necklace. Indeed it has a long history. Here are the times I've discovered it:

I do have a file named "Someday-maybe-I-will-find-it", where I put items, which I hope to find one day. From time to time I try my luck again. And sometimes - like today - suddenly something appears, while I'm searching something completely different! I wasn't sure in the first place, but after researching more, I am 100 % sure I found ... well, what did I find? I'm gonna make a little riddle for you: What haveI found today, with the help of this picture?

I give you a hint: It's 20 years ago Céline wore it. giggle.gif

It's not an easy riddle, but I'm curious if someone will solve it!
