Random chart update: Celine’s cover of Natural Woman charts at #25 on Billboard’s Global LyricFind chart this week.

Lying Down is at #4. I just like this song. So cinematic

Yes, but it charted in 2019, if you look closely! Wish we had gotten the music video though!

According to the gallery, the ABM piano version video was filmed in July 1996 in Montreal by G. Pullicino. (the IACBTMN video was filmed in June 1996)

Does anyone have more information about the theater and why was the video not released?

from the photo it looks pretty good! I always wonder why they released a weird mix of the Live a Paris footage with some strange scenes where she sings that song during the FIY photoshoot

Yes! Even since 90s together with “I Love You, Goodbye” - this song is the most used song in Philippine movies and series as a soundtrack

The real answer is on november 12 this account posted this video

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTYh9H812/

It has over 5.4 million views and since then the song has blown up on tiktok in the phillipines. Plus some other places but its only charting on Phillipines Spotify so I cant tell where else.

But only about 60% of its streams are coming from the Phillipines which means its doing well in other places. At least other Asian countries.

Nothing to do with it being a hit 30 years ago in this instance.

Yeah but did you read their scathing review.

Yeah, I did. I mean, I feel it could have been worse. They praised parts of the album, but mostly felt there were stronger contenders that year, which is what I’ve heard various music critics say over the years. It still won the award though, lol.

Celine Dion, Falling Into You (1997)

Two tracks into Falling Into You — giving both Jim Steinman and Diane Warren arguably their greatest ’90s conduit, with “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” and “Because You Loved Me,” respectively — and Celine had already seized the title of Canada’s greatest global superstar from Bryan Adams. The rest of the set relies too much on covers of established pop classics (“All By Myself,” “River Deep, Mountain High”) to scale the same heights, though there’s gems to be found in the album’s deeper corners, like the reggae-tinged “Make You Happy” and the smoldering title track.

I doubt the person who wrote this even listened to the album, just glanced over the titles. What about the emotional Fly? The gospel, haunting CTM? The perfection that is SM?

Should It Have Won? Nope nope. The Grammys finally snapped out of their mid-’90s malaise with their strongest group of nominees that decade — including Smashing Pumpkins’ brilliantly overstuffed Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Beck’s brain-burstingly creative Odelay, The Fugees’ cinematic masterpiece The Score, and the peak ’90s R&B star summit of the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack — but awarded the weakest of the five.

I never heard of this Beck singer. I looked up this album, it barely sold 3 million copies around the globe. Of course, it should not be a criterium, but Céline and FIY were everywhere in 1996 and early 1997! It produces many chart topping hits: FIY, IACBTNM, BYLM, ABM and even CTM did fairly well. It was such a huge commercial success, that combined with flawless vocals and amazing production, it only deserved to be album of the year.

Not Even Nominated: 2Pac’s All Eyez on Me, Fiona Apple’s Tidal, No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom

For Fiona Apple, same goes as Beck: it barely sold 3 million copies around the globe. No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom I can understand why it should have been nominated. But here in Holland only Don't Speak was a huge hit.

From what I read a mostly in these 'reviews' of Billboard, is that it's written by a Beyoncé stan :giggle:

You have to realize that The Grammys is an awards show by The American Recoding Academy. Global reach is not a criteria for the awards.

Yes i know.. that's also why Céline as a Canadian has been snubbed (discriminated) so much by the Grammy's....

The fact that Celine only has 5 Grammys is nuts…. Especially when Kendrick Lamar and Beyoncé had 5 or more in one night.

yup!! I mention it every time... the fact Céline lost best female vocal for TPOL to Sheryl Crow's All I Wanna Do is a freaking joke! Even after 30 years!

Yes, it's a scandal. But Mariah was snubbed many times also.

Why wasn’t ANDHC nominated for a single Grammy, that album was a masterpiece.

Because Norah Jones album Come Away We Me was better and A New Day Has Come was outdated.

Why was Because You Loved Me nominated for Best Female Vocal Performance and not All By Myself?

I don’t think it was outdated, it didn’t even receive a single nomination at least. Celine’s last nomination was for Best Collaboration with Frank Sinatra for the song “All The Way”…

Didn't it have something to do with the album being released too late for the 2002 nominations? And then in 2003 it was probably forgotten? It's weird how these timelines work.

You are all taking very seriously the awards show that has nominated Britney for best vocal performance a number of times. :giggle:

It is a joke, really.

It is also a joke that FIY is criticised as impersonal, overproduced and weak when 'Cowboy Carter' involved 72 songwriters. :giggle: :-D
