1.) Is This What I Get For Loving You? (1996 Mix)

2.) Is This What I Get For Loving You? (Unknown Take)

3.) Is This What I Get For Loving You? (Take 4)

4.) I Want To See Morning With Him

5.) What Am I To Do (Demo)

Hi rfkavanagh, I recognize you from another forum that I tried joining days ago but am unable to post in because my account is still pending validation. orangeconfused.gif

To my ears the second song sounds like a fully-produced, final track. While “Is This What I Get For Loving You” sounds more like an epic pop hit, “I Want To See Morning With Him” is more operatic with lush strings, dreamy harps and light brush hits. This is Spector's Wagnerian approach to music production fully realized.

“What Am I To Do” features a complete vocal take and runs 4+ minutes. I would describe it as a demo because Phil Spector is singing the background vocals during the chorus and is guiding Celine through the key changes. When I first heard the track, I didn’t immediately recognize it as a cover of the Paris Sisters because it is so different from the original. It has a faster tempo and is more danceable/radio-friendly. But the lyrics sounded familiar so it wasn’t until I googled them that I realized it was a cover.

I think it's interesting how she had some favourites, but we didn't know for a long time.

I remember in the 90s, like 96, she mentioned Freddy Mercury and Queen but outside of that, but outside of that you would not have known until 2008 TCWT. John Farham, she said she wanted to cover the song forever, but I never heard her mention it at all until the last few years. And the Chris Isaak cover came out of nowhere.

It's interesting because I get the sense she doesn't keep up with new music really heavily, but behind the scenes to Tori Kelly for example she has said she has watched her career.

Well, that time ET interviewed RC alongside BTS they asked if she’s a fan and he said she keeps up! (For what it’s worth.)

I think she actually genuinely does, but these curated playlists are aimed at her audience.

I think she keeps up with new music very well actually but it’s just a matter of what she likes best. I’m sure she knows all the new artists and their major hits but she simply might not like them as much as she likes the older classics, and I don’t blame her.

I remember reading that back in 2000 when she had begun her break, she was determined to listen to any music that got released regardless of whether it was considered good or not or what artist it was from. She wanted to keep up and I think it’s something she still does. On other playlists allegedly put together by Céline herself, there were many songs by new artists (some of which surprised me, I have to admit) so she’s definitely aware of what’s going on in the industry.

The best is yet to come...

Well it would be very hard to not know who BTS. They've broken some of her records after all.

I'd be more curious to know if Celine knows the hot/new/young artists in France. That would make me think she's really keeping up.

Where are those playlists?

Do you remember how she learned about LP or Sia? Her fandom of LP is what I was most impressed with, even if it is a few years late. They have a Roy Orbison connection.

I think in her last Vegas show we got to see the most of her singing random songs here and there.

No. No they don’t ever listen, it’s just something called coincidence.

They continue to pullout this video maker to make 15 second lyric videos

I'm glad to see, at least, that Team Celine isn't finished posting stuff regarding Falling Into You's anniversary.

Hope it continues!

I just love that they're giving love to an obscure title like "Your Light!" Out of all the songs from "Falling Into You," it was the one I expected the most to be overlooked during the 25th anniversary. I'm happy to see that wasn't the case!

They're the correct lyrics.

The booklet says "I'll give you something to hold on to" not "hold onto". Doesn't it mean something different?

It’s actually grammatically incorrect in the booklet.

Oh... I'm really ashamed. I didn't know there was the expression "to hold onto" but only "to hold on to someone or something". Thanks!

https://writingexpla...before on/onto.

I actually think that “hold on to” is correct since the verb is “to hold on” (e.g. “hold on to the railing”). Makes more sense to me than “hold onto” since “onto” implies that it’s physically above the given noun. I see it as being similar to “he went on to...” NOT “he went onto...” where the verb is “to go on”.

I see what you r doing but that is a spelling error. Should we be really be mad at something as little as hold on to or hold onto? Who cares? Lets see.....well... NO ONE!

The Celine news is such a desert we have gone on to debating grammar :P

I think you're right. I would bet that "I'll give you something to hold on to" is the correct phrase give the rules.
