bonninpili Posted April 15, 2008 at 01:42 AM Posted April 15, 2008 at 01:42 AM A very good article with one photo with fans holdign the letters of CELINE! http://www.star-ecentral.com/news/story.as...sec=soundnstageTuesday April 15, 2008 Sublime night By MELODY L. GOH Celine Dion’s concert possessed fine flow; with classics and treats making it onto the mix at Stadium Merdeka. WITH a kiss, a wink and stunning vocal prowess, Celine Dion stole the hearts of thousands of fans on Sunday night in Kuala Lumpur. In her first concert in Malaysia, Canadian songbird Dion gave a rousing performance at the Stadium Merdeka, pleasing the crowd with every hit song. The concert was part of Dion’s Taking Chances World Tour; KL was the only South-East Asian venue on her list.Celine Dion performing like the ultimate entertainer that she is during her concert at Stadium Merdeka on Sunday night. The show started at 8.50pm, shortly after the arrival of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, accompanied by deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor. Perhaps a stickler for time, Dion, dressed in what looked more like fake leather sleeves (it’s actually a mini bolero), a glittery mini dress thigh-high black boots, performed one song after another without much pause in between. The singer took only a few short breaks, but even those times were filled with performances by her eight dancers and background singers. This is probably a reason why Dion is known as one of the hardest-working women in show business. Dion, 40, left the polite banter to a minimum too – though she greeted the King and Queen, and thanked the audience for giving her another chance to perform after her initial postponement (the concert was originally scheduled on April 8). Of course, the singer also did the quintessential apa khabar and terima kasih (with good diction too!) bit during the show. But what she didn’t say in words she made up for in her many exaggerated facial expressions, her criss-crossing arm movements, her playful winks and kisses and, of course, her great voice. As Dion is known for performing with elaborate stage set-ups and special effects, visual effects in the form of video clips played a big role in her KL show. In a way, the videos set the mood for every part of the show (the concert had five parts) – Rock, Passion, Fashionista, Soul and a Queen Tribute. Yes, Dion paid tribute to Queen and gave a heartfelt dedication to the band’s late lead singer, Freddie Mercury. She sang a short version of We Will Rock You, which the crowd – young and old – promptly joined in, as well as The Show Must Go On. On stage with the singer at all times were no fewer than 10 musicians, including a violinist/acoustic guitarist extraordinaire, a pianist, a keyboardist, three other guitarist, a drummer and a female timpani-cymbal-chime-bongo player! Her only male background vocalist, Barnev Valsaint, played double duty during the duet I’m Your Angel, singing the part of R. Kelly beautifully. Valsaint also did a medley of upbeat songs during the Soul part of the concert, paving the way for Dion’s It’s a Man’s World. Although one would expect a Celine Dion concert to be filled with many sing-along moments (after all, the most popular karaoke songs are by her), that didn’t quite happen on Sunday. Luckily enough, Dion only coaxed the crowd to sing with her on a few songs, and even that was kept short. But far from it being a diva trait, the reason for that was simple enough – nobody in the crowd could sing like Dion. Not even the talented Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, who was seated at the VVIP area with husband Datuk Khalid Mohd Jiwa. The eager crowd that turned up for the Celine Dion concert. On many occasions during the 100-minute concert, Dion proved why she is considered one of today’s top vocalists in the world. She hit all the high notes in songs like Power of Love, It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, To Love You More, and especially on Eric Carmen’s All By Myself, without sounding overdone or too screechy, a la Mariah Carey. The clarity and quality of her voice was so good you could hear the “Ooohs” and “Waahs” (this is Malaysia, after all) from the appreciative audience. However, though all those high notes showed off Dion’s vocal capabilities, it was the slow and intimate moments that made Dion a true performer. She has a knack for engaging her fans through her songs, and making each one feel like she truly is singing just for them. On tracks like the Linda Perry-penned My Love, Dion, who was on her knees throughout most of the song, sang in a soft tone, almost like making an emotional plea to the heavens. She did say that the song included her own prayer anyway. On Think Twice, the long-forgotten ballad with the sexy electric guitar riffs, Dion started off with her familiar breathy singing style and finished with a more assertive pitch. To end the song, Dion leaned her body on her guitarist and laid her head on his shoulders, much to the crowd’s delight. The singer also performed a French tune, something she said is a must in each of her concert. Pour Que tu M’aimes Encore, or in English If That’s What it Takes (which was featured on Dion’s 1996 Falling Into You album), is described as a “signature” song for Dion, one that helped form her earlier Francophone music career. Dion’s “last” song prior to her encore was another old tune, the Gospel-inspired Love Can Move Mountains. When the song ended, some of the crowd actually started walking out of the stadium! Perhaps these unknowing few weren’t that familiar with Dion’s music, but it really wouldn’t be a Celine Dion concert without a performance of quite possibly the biggest pop ballad of the last decade now, wouldn’t it? The song in question is of course, My Heart Will Go On, a number that really doesn’t need much introduction. After doing Tina Turner’s River Deep Mountain High for her first encore number, Dion went backstage and let her dancers entertain for a bit. When one of her background vocalists started playing the familiar flute intro of My Heart Will Go On, Dion returned to centre stage with a flowy yellow strapless gown, ready to literally end the night on a grand note. As the song trailed off into the night, Dion and her crew gracefully took a bow to a rousing applause and standing ovation. Blowing kisses in the air, Dion gave one final wink and walked off to be with her husband Rene Angelil, all done with her day’s work. Quote

For my love, i think she did great, its an intimate song, its very personal its not about belting it out. Quote

CelineDeltA Posted April 15, 2008 at 10:16 AM Posted April 15, 2008 at 10:16 AM Wooo, i was there that night. Such a memorable night for all of us, all her fans and malaysians. It's was the 1st concert i ever attended in this life (apart of circus). Congrates to all that made it that nite, i bet that every1 had a wonderful nite. For those fans who don make it, probaly due to the reschedule, it's ok, lets pray that she will return to malaysia once again, finger crossed. I miss that nite, even it's just 2 days after the show, i was such a fantastic performance from celine. She is so polite and pretty, especialy in the yellow dress she wore when she sing heart. Honestly until now i stil cant believe the fact tat i actually met celine in person, it;s lik a dream come true for me, n i m sure for alot others of u, tat favor celine since young. Her songs are always inspirational and her voice is like an angel, and exceptionally sentation that nite, she did well with all the part that is tough to sing, left every1 on the stadium breahtless. Luckily the weather tat nite is ok, we stil can c the moon on the sky, celine did point it out. It was raining lik hell b4 5pm n i tot it;s goin to b lik titanic inside the arena. Although she only perform certain songs in full, mostly her latest song, but she never forget to bring back some sweet memories with her smsahin hit lik power of love, because u love me etc......., but she definately had miss out some song alot ppl is expecting, lik a new day has come and that's the way it is Some songs are outrageous, lik i'm alive, totaly diff from album ver, probaly she wn us to know that she is not lip syncning Her speech to fans is powerful, and of coz to the Agong, even he is the 1 who make 10000 ppl waited for an hour b4 the show kik off. All of her show is almost the same(world tour), i seen the concert in sydney n the orderds of song remained the same as well. and tat make me believe that the show for KL will not be released in dvd. I miss it, if any1 there tat nite with video cam recorede the show, do u mind? leave a pm n i would lik to burn a copy, wat i left now is flashback of the concert n a entry ticket, i really wish to view that show once again. Finally, i would lik to say, what we've seen is our lovely Celine, at her peak condition that nite, and certainly cheered up all of us, at least, 10000 ppl. The oni things to perfection is if only i hav a galfren to hold wen she sing my heart will go on..... Quote
CelineDeltA Posted April 15, 2008 at 10:19 AM Posted April 15, 2008 at 10:19 AM Did u guys manage to get her signature ? or even get close to her? i mean durin the concert, after the show or b4 that. i sat quite far from the stage tat nite, even for the rm288 seats, i oni manage to c her gesture durin i drove all nite, apart of tat everything is on the 2 big LCD beside the stage.but it's more than enough for me jz to see she walk from left to right on the stage. i canot believe my eyes tat celine is there, infront of me.....it's lik a dream Quote

zamirdion Posted April 15, 2008 at 03:19 PM Posted April 15, 2008 at 03:19 PM First and foremost I would like to apologize if my report or review is not as good as others or my grammar is also is not as good as others too hehehe, but i would like to give my personal opinion too..My intention here is to share my very first time experience in celine's concert...When I knew that Celine is coming to Malaysia...I was so shock and extremely eager to buy the ticket concert as fast as I could....Just before the concert held in few days....i felt that my heart is pounding and i can feel butterflies in my stomach....I wanted to meet all of u guys at the recent concert, but i am just holding RM288 price...so I guess its better for me to get the best seat to get the best view... Around 6.30 pm...I got my line at GATE 4...there were long que at the entrance itself...Fortunately I met my friends who has reserve the line up for me....heheheh...I am so excited to be with them as we knew that we are going to have lots of fun..... Around 7.00 pm...the gate was open...no rushing no pushing people at the entrance...one we entered...we look at the view and quickly decided to take the best view. Lucky again I had a wonderful view from the top...and I must say the view was crystal clear... God I would be watching Celine from here... The concert is estimated to start at 8.30 p.m. However we have to wait for the VVIP and royal family to come....hmmm......while we were waiting for the diva.....we did few things and that was the "MEXICAN WAVES"......It started from the RM188 seatings and the waves goes on and on to the end of the row....we had so much fun doing this...The Celine crew had no idea what was going on....and suddenly they realize that the audience were waiving just like watching football match..... After the arrival of the King and Queen of Malaysia...the light shut off....everybody were screaming as loud as they can...The atmosphere was great....Everyone scream and shout "CELINE!!!CELINE!!!" The moment that we've been waiting for....Celine came out and sing the chorus part of "I drove all Night".....and say "Apa Khabar Kuala Lumpur..??!!Is that allright!!" "Are u ready....I said are u ready"..everyone reply...."YEAH"....I heard fans were screaming "Oh My God!"...."MY GOODNESS CELINE IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!" I Drove all night was the 1st track that kicked off the concert...we sang along and dance together with her...It was incredible to see the joy on everyone faces..... The Power of love was choosen as the 2nd number in the concert...how I wish she could sing "I got the music in me" just like what she had done in other countries.... Before she proceed with Taking Chances, she had a liitle speech...One thing that I noticed about Celine....She is the kind of person who talked from the heart...she made her speech sounded interesting....she praised as an "extraordinary people"...She also never forget to apologize on the reschedule the date...we felt so appreciated when she said "I wanted to apologize for resheduling the dates....I hope I will be on the top shape" She also acknowleged the Royal Family....and the fans...."I was told that during the afternoon the rain fall heavily..but tonite the weather was great under the beautiful moon" everybody stared at the moon too...since she pointed out the moon at the skies...heheheh..... After kicked off her 1st single...she quickly belted the "FALLING INTO YOU" medleys.....Of course she started out with "It's All Coming Back"..Because You Loved me..and thank God she did the bridge part...so for these speculations saying that she actually pre-recorded the medley was false guys...I really can see she sang out of her lung....I felt so lucky to hear her sang the bridge part and before she ended it she asked us to sing along the last phrase together just like what we've seen in "LIVE IN MEMPHIS' but no extended order to repeat the same verse as we all sang it well and harmony hehehehe.... The light changed and dancer were dance amazingly accompanied by spanish music....here goes "Eyes of Me"...The music was great...it has the element of world music concept..u can here spanish and indian mixed in one sound...and the dance moves was very sexy ...wow....ouccchhh... All By Myself was done perfectly....the a capella part was extremely great....goosebump..thats how I described it....every one cheered with the vocal ability shown by Mrs Rene ... It was great....and superb...one of the audience screamed "SUPERB CELINE!!" The video was shown as she act like a supermodel with few gourges models with her... Quickly she sang I am Alive...and everybody at my row started to move....and dance..... Then she nailed "Think Twice" thanks celine for singing this song....without hesitation she started to sing "Alone" which has been made popular by Heart...excellent version from Celine..she paused for a while to introduce her brand new song "Shadow Of Love" she did extended version by hitting the high notes at the end of th song....she received big applause from the audiende..... She called upon her backgroung singer to duet with her in I am Your Angle ....Barnieve was great too....Prior to My Love she told us that this is her favourite song in her latest album...she got on her knees and sang it emotionally...no over acting but she did what is takes from the song....her was so sweet and young...She also added that she will never do concert without singing at least one French song...which was also the highest part of her french career....I don't have to name it u all know what's the tittle heheheh.. The excitement continues where she lead medley from the Queen with We Will Rock You...the whole stadium was filled with claps...and as usual she did show must go on... The soul segment was one of my favourite...she did medley from the legendary "James Brown"...I feel good and This is the man's world..she has proven to the fans and the non fans that she is versatile and true music lover...just give her any kind of genres and she can prove it to u....consequently she sang "that just the woman in me...amazingly...her voice so pure and she didn't need to pretend or trying too hard to sing rock song....the music grew in her since she was young....we can see that she was genuinely sing rock numbers.... The environment went bigger and hot...she didn't need to work the crowd so hard....she can easily ordered the fans to stand up and dance....I am so shocked to see the front row which was fully occupied by the elite people to cheer up and dance...wow...the view was great it is like u were in the club where eveyone dance and moves easily...the temparature went up and it was so hot......"River Deep Mountain High" drove us crazy....I was amazed to see her rolled that mic stand.....The song end up perfectly....before she wore the yellow dress she did say goodbye to us... Evryone scream "we want more..we want more...we want more" and the big screen appeared showing the trailer from the unforgetable "TITANIC".....she appeared again officially end up the concert with My Heart Will Go on" It was the best concert I've ever attended...Before this...I've been in Mariah's concert twice and Whitney one...and as the conclussion...Celine won them easily....She is the true diva , and I will never forget the greatest moment of my life...."Taller than the tallest tree .... that's how it got to feel..deeper than the deep blue see...that's how it goes when I see u celine" wish u all the best in life Thanks Quote

zamirdion Posted April 15, 2008 at 03:27 PM Posted April 15, 2008 at 03:27 PM Here is one of my good friend's, Judd review.... Celine Dion Live in Kuala Lumpur!! After being postponed few times, finally the concert took place.. and it's worth the wait..!! it was really awesome..!! Me & Arep getting all geared up.. =) The concert which was scheduled to start at 8.00pm started at 9.00pm right after the King of Malaysia, Yang Dipertuan Agung Tuanku Mizan & Tuanku Nur Zahirah arrived together with the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak & Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.. The stage.. simple but enormous.. It was estimated that approximately 15000 fans came to watch Celine perform in Malaysia, which was the only Asia stop for the Taking Chances World Tour.. fans from as far as China, Philipines & Indonesia flew over just to watch Dion perform.. and i'm pretty sure it's worth all the ticket flights and all.. =) Celine Dion kicking off the show The show kicked of with a video of I Drove All Night (remix) before Dion came on-stage to a thunderous applause from the crowd.. After continuing with The Power Of Love, Dion then thanked all the fans who came & extended her apologizies for the postponement.. she said she was also worried earlier in the day coz it rained quite heavily.. and thank God the sky is very clear at night.. Dion also thanked the King & Queen for their attendance.. how gracious of her.. =) Celine Dion paying her humblest gratitude Dion continued with the 1st single from her latest album of the same name - Taking Chances before continuing with the medley - It's All Coming Back To Me Now and Because You Loved me, the two songs which i believe made her a household name here in Malaysia.. Dion continued with To Love You More - one of my favourite Celine Dion track.. Dion kicked some major #ss here..!! it was amazing..! Dion went backstage & the dancers took centre stage dancing some flamenco.. accompanied by some incredible musicians, Dion then sang a new track from Taking Chances called Eyes On Me which has a lil' bit of World Music touch.. Dion continued with All By Myself which probably is one of the toughest song to sing.. as usual, Dion pulled it off incredibly..!! Next, Dion sang an upbeat number, I'm Alive and got the crowd all hyped up before singing another track from Taking Chances called Shadows Of Love.. Dion later sang a duet with one of her backup vocalist, Barnev Valsaint on the song - I'm Your Angel (originally performed with R.Kelly).. it was a great duet.. Mr Valsaint had some amazing pipes there.. =) Dion singing I'm Your Angel with Barnev Valsaint When the musicians began to play the intro to the song - Alone, i got very excited coz that is one of my favourite track from Taking Chances.. many have covered the song, but Ms Dion's version is a class above the rest.. then Dion performed her biggest French hit - Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore much to the delight of the crowd and then another ballad, Think Twice.. Before continuing her performance, Dion explained that the song My Love from Taking Chances composed by Linda Perry is her favourite track from the album which is sort of her prayer.. she then bent on her knee and began singing the verse of the song a'capella without music.. her vocals were amazing here..! she ended the song on a very high note..! Dion later rocked the stage, paying a tribute to Queen by singing We Will Rock You & This Show Must Go On.. i was very excited coz i'm a fan of Queen's songs and having Celine performing them is such an amazing experience.. Celine rawkked the house alright..!! The backup vocals & dancers then took centre stage performing a medley of soul hits including Sex Machine, Soul Man, Lady Marmalade, RESPECT & I Got The Feelin, before Dion came to the middle of the stage performing It's A Man's Man's Man's World with such a strong vocal display..The crowd on their feet when Dion sang Love Can Move Mountain Dion later got the crowd on their feet when performing Love Can Move Mountain & River Deep Mountain High.. it was so much fun standing on our feet and dancing along to the tunes.. probably that was my most favourite segment of the night..! Dion about to leave the stage after My Heart Will Go On Of course the night would be incomplete without Dion singing the love anthem, My Heart Will Go On.. after endless enchanting by the crowd wanting more, Dion appeared on-stage for the very last time with a beautiful yellow dress belting her biggest hit yet.. Dion ended the concert on a high note and left everyone feeling satisfied.. it really was one of the best vocal performance in a concert that i've had the chance to experience thus far since Mariah performed at the same venue way back in 2003.. And not to forget, Dion also spoke a few lines in Bahasa Malaysia much to the delight of the crowd.. =) Dion's last goodbye.. Besides the royalty & the deputy prime minister, there were many other familiar faces among the crowd.. among them were of course Datuk Siti Nurhaliza (Dion's biggest fan!) & husband - Datuk Khalid, Datuk Mukhriz, Datin Norjuma & husband - Datuk Nazim, Sarimah Ibrahim & husband (who were seated next to us), fashion designer - Rizalman Ibrahim, Ezlynn, Ziana Zain, Jaclyn Victor, Daniel Lee, Harith Iskandar, Hannah Tan, Fara Fauzana, Amy Search, Rossa from Indonesia, Sasha Basir, Malaysian astronaut - Sheikh Muszaphar and and many more..
