One word, Streisand. lol I am not a real fan but Iv watched and listened to a few performances of her over the years, very magical and great even if a little ruff these days but hell the woman is in her 60's and is always live to my knowlege. Aretha blows and so does Whitney live. Sad but true. :/ Lipsyncing is standard practice. Celine's done it off an on for her entire career and she still sings live amazingly well

i'm fine with those outlandish outfits. i got used to that already. but i'm so disappointed on how weak her vocals were during that period (and it was supposed to be the return of "The Voice"). she was struggling a lot singing her songs and most of the high notes were lipped.

I know, but Whitney and Aretha get a lot of negatism for always singing live.
So that doesn't help.

That's not true. They don't get criticized for singing live, they get criticized for singing (live) badly.

I've read loads of reactions on the internet from people who wish artists would stop sing live...

Of course they won't say it about people who sing perfectly live. But unfortunately all singers have their bad moments.

What do we want? Only live performances when the voice has a good day?

Or just enjoy a great performance whether it's live or not?

It was all about vocal ability before Paula Abdul arrived and spread the message.

Yes but at least Madonna has a very nice voice, which can be quite emotive and strong at times. Paula was basically the stepping stone for the "voice-less pop star". :lol:

I'm usually a defender of Mariah's weight since many call her fat, but she just looks ridiculous in those outfits. It's out of control at this point. This has to be the fattest she's been since TAOM.

Uh, yeah! Look at the setlist. It's full of trashy ghetto songs that showcase none of what little voice she has left. I guess that is good...but at least when Britney lips every song she is dancing. Mariah may sing a verse live but all her high notes are lipped these days and her new songs suck.

It's funny when people mention Celine wanting to record music that would be popular today. Well, Mariah did that and look at what we have. A bunch of songs that no one can stand. Everyone wants the classics back in the show. The songs that proved she was the best.

The current setlist....6/17 were #1 hits....

TAOM had a total of 12 (out of possible 17) and there were 18 songs performed.

In other words.....this tour 1/3 of her number ones are performed....TAOM was 2/3...

Honestly, in my opinion the best set list would just to take her 18 number ones and perform them all..... I don't like them all, but I'm sure everyone would be more happy hearing those then what we have now.

I really liked her setlist both hip and classic she has so many songs to choise from so

she picked songs from her 1991 Emotions and sang tha hell out of it' her voice was

in great shape and maybe her best vocal performance of recent years.

I think it's because of Nick and their love' when you are in love with someone you sound better' ure relaxed

and you know he's there for you. AMaZINGGGGGGGG,,,

I would prefer some songs from Rainbow and Butterfly too not just TEOM and her previous albums'

But she sang Hero too and LoveHangover/Heartbreaker' Emotions' Fantasy' all great classics would i say.

We Belong Together was fine too...

It's good to know (from Rolling Stones) that it was sold-out but very sad to know that most of it were lipped (around 80%). So we got a mixed bag from the very first concert.

But like Nicky said, she's getting huge again :ermm: They could've chosen some other costumes but oh well :rolleyes:

There wasn't a single song without lipped bits (except Make It Happen but she sang only 1 minute of it). Mariah is really disappointing. The outfits of course are ridiculous and the setlist is just bad. I'm glad that she replaced the original+remix Heartbreaker which I can't stand with the Love Hangover version she did at Divas Live 2000. Edited January 2, 2010 at 01:05 PM by Nikosn17

And the thing is, if she dressed for her size, she'd look fine. She wouldn't even look fat. But because she chooses to dress for a Size 0, she looks HUGE.

LOL! It didn't quite sell out. They gave out TONS of free tickets to make it appear that way. Anyway, the set list for the second show is 43584358438x better.

@Tyler,

I don't think she should replace new songs by older ones.

When I go to a concert, I wouldn't want Céline, Mariah or anybody else keep on singing the old songs.

It's not a Greatest Hits Tour.

If she is to replace a song, I would prefer a replacement for Subtle Invation. That's an older song, but no hit.

She could replace it for another "Memoirs" song (or something from E=MC² since she didn't tour with that album) or for another hit (like Vision of love).

yes, but the problem with Mariah performing all new songs or mostly new songs is people[non fans or semi fans], im sure, would be dissapointed by the lack of old songs/popular songs they know and love just as if Celine didnt have them in her setlist people would be dissapointed.

Some people don't even have so many hits in total.

So I don't think there's much to complain about.

Mariah, Céline, Madonna... are all in a position where they have so many hits to choose from!
