Nikosn17 Posted August 7, 2009 at 03:18 PM Posted August 7, 2009 at 03:18 PM Since we're posting The Sun, I might as well post Daily Star MARIAH CAREY PREVIEWFri, Aug 7, 2009 I'VE had a sneaky preview of six tracks from 40-year-old Mariah Carey's new album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, out on September 14.Her 12th opus boasts collaborations with artists including The-Dream, 27, and Timbaland, 38. Here's my verdict so far: Candy Bling: A melodic, mid-tempo soul shaker with understated vocals that leave you thoroughly detoxed. Not the booty-trembling hip-hop anthem you'd expect from the title. 4/5 Obsessed: The hard-hitting yet elegant lead single has MC declaring: "It must be the weed, it must be the E/'Cause you be poppin', you get it poppin'." Eminem bating? Possibly - but definitely biting. 4/5 H.A.T.E. U: Mariah has invited fans to guess the meaning of the track's initials, but it's clear it stands for a lady in love as she purrs through a hypnotic, musical aphrodisiac. 4/5 Standing O: The O is officially for ovation but, given the intimacy of this tune, it must be a double entendre. A toe-tapper but not quite a show-stopper. 3/5 Impossible: MC loves you "like a milkshake", although the melody isn't quite as full-flavoured as you'd hope. 2/5 I Want To Know What Love Is: Foreigner's cheesy 80s signature power ballad, given the Carey treatment and complete with choir and karaoke climax. It's a great re-work. 5/5 Source: Daily Star Quote

dj4celine Posted August 7, 2009 at 10:04 PM Posted August 7, 2009 at 10:04 PM Nicky, let's be honest here. Vocally, yes but stage presence, definitely no. Even with scrunched up faces and wird movements, Celine does give a good show. But I may be biased here as I've not seen Mariah live except for the dvds and vdeos put up. Quote

I haven't seen either live in person, but personally I think both can put on a good show when they want to. The AGT performance wasn't her best but i'm happy she was at least moving and trying. The X-Factor performances were shameful and I wish they were erased from history. Edited August 7, 2009 at 11:16 PM by Lymon Quote http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png
Nikosn17 Posted August 8, 2009 at 07:00 AM Posted August 8, 2009 at 07:00 AM True that her stage presence isn't her best but there were some performances through the years when she def was the show stopper. disadiva Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:03 PM Posted August 9, 2009 at 12:03 PM I really enjoyed AGT Performance by Mariah cause she looked happy and on ease not stressed out,as she often does, Her voice was great better then it has been in years not so hoars her tone was flawless,She has never been a dancer and why should she be when she got a voice to be proud of. Stop looking to the 90´s okey it was when Tommy Mottola was in charge. Quote http://i46.tinypic.com/2nvtcpl.jpg

Black Kitten Posted August 10, 2009 at 01:45 PM Posted August 10, 2009 at 01:45 PM (edited) Mariah readies next single--"Candy Bling," from her upcoming album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. The song comes after the smash hit first single "Obsessed," which was allegedly about Eminem (although as predicted, she and husband Nick Cannon have denied this on several occasions). While "Obsessed" is hovering just outside the top 10 in Billboard's Hot 100, all indicators are up and Mariah fans around the world is still hoping the song becomes her 19th #1 single. Back to "Candy Bling," the song is a slow-jam which talks about loving someone, losing him/her, and getting back on again (does she talk about anything else?). The song features a rather strong vocal performance with a nice ending (read: ultra high-whistle notes in the end). If indeed "Obsessed" manages to claim the top spot, fans can expect a 20th #1 song from Mimi, which will allow her to match The Beatle's all time high record. LuisMa Posted August 10, 2009 at 01:47 PM Posted August 10, 2009 at 01:47 PM I don't think "Obsessed" will hit number 1 in a million years, but I do want her to break The Beatles' record someday. So, is "Candy Bling" her new single officially? Quote
Nikosn17 Posted August 10, 2009 at 01:55 PM Posted August 10, 2009 at 01:55 PM wtf... I've never heard that Candy Bling is considered as the 2d single. I still think it's HATEU. Quote
dj4celine Posted August 10, 2009 at 04:22 PM Posted August 10, 2009 at 04:22 PM 'Obsessed' will never reach #1. Maybe somewhere in between #6 and #10. This is a nice surprise cos everyone thought H.A.T.E.U. would be the next single Quote
