I hate it when recording companies label artists as "the most succesful artist (male or female)". I want to know on what basis they label a certain artist - the number of #1s (country dependent), album sales, nmber of albums etc, or what?

 

 

Anyways, glad to know that promotion is gearing up at last. But I think they should drop "H.A.T.E.U." before the album's release cos "Obsessed" doesn't seem to be creating much hype. But I may be wrong

I won't believe it with basically any artist, because record labels always change numbers and such to create hype around a particular artist.

 

And I agree about H.A.T.E.U. If this performance doesn't revive Obsessed, it doesn't have much of a chance.

At least with "best selling female artist of all time" we know what that means but when introduced as "most successful female artist of all time" nodbody knows what that means because it can mean anything.

Actually ''Obsessed'' is doing better and better. Up to #18 at iTunes. Airplay is rising with more than 1M everyday.

I think she'll be able to crack the Top 10 on the Hot 100 if sales continue to improve. She's currently at number 16 on iTunes.

my god, what a mess performance , actually it was not performance at all, even Britney could make it better, at least Britney dance better and also can make several live adlibs like Mariah , mess LOL

I loved that she was moving around and trying to get more comfortable, and that she was having fun. I also like the undubbed vocals a lot, some parts had some sass(You're a mom and POP!). However, the dubbed vocals ruins it for me. At least twice the vocals don't match with the words, and the dubbed vocals take all the life out of the real ones. So if they had kept the original performance, it'd be much better.

Island Def Jam will release a three CD collector's set the same day as Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Rap-Up.com has learned. The box set will include the songbird's first three Island albums, 2002's Charmbracelet, 2005's The Emancipation of Mimi, and 2008's E=MC², and be sold at a special low price. The packaging will have space for a fourth CD (hint, hint).

 

In addition, those who purchase the collector's set will receive a Mariah poster to remind them of all the money they just spent.

While UK Brrrap pack artists such as TINCHY STRYDER and DJ IRONIK take soul and R'n'B in exciting new directions, veteran CAREY is left looking tired and irrelevant.

 

No more so than on new album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.

 

I was played a selection of tracks from the CD, due on September 14, and they left me feeling that the diva has run out of steam.

 

The collection has been billed as her most personal so far, harking back to the sound of her mid-Nineties heyday.

 

But its reliance on bland, dated-sounding, dreary R'n'B bored me to tears.

 

Cliched lyrics about things being better "back in the day" and loving someone like "Kool Aid" don't help either.

 

A cover of FOREIGNER's I Want To Know What Love Is was competent at best.

 

And with little of her trademark vocal pyrotechnics on display I can't find much to recommend what I heard.

 

There's still more tracks to finish before the album hits the shelves.

 

I just hope they're not as bad as the one's she's already handed in...

I don't trust The Sun's review because Europe hates Mariah's sound. Some other reviews have called Candy Bling a great slow jam in the vein of Underneath the Stars. But everyone has been universally praising I Want to Know What Love Is. I so cannot wait to hear that song!
