I don't hate Mariah at all, I think she's just as good as Celine. She was just awful on the X-Factor.

She started off live and then went into playback at the end for the difficult parts... a bit like Celine and The Power Of Love.

Also, Mariah was more animated when miming but didn't move a muscle when singing... we couldn't even hear her during the live parts.

 

I couldn't believe it when she started miming...! Not because she was miming but because it was so blatant and obvious. It must be something about that stage or studio! Or singing next to wannabes. I don't know... but Céline looked terrified last year and there was a problem with sound...

 

Mariah's decision to mime definitely makes me feel better about Céline's performance. I know that is petty but I can't help it

Having said that, I never thought Céline's performance was that bad... Technical problems and a gruelling schedule following illness... Plus, we've heard her sing the song since and do it very successfully.

 

I'm not Mariah-hater but that playback was shocking.

People in different shows said it as many times as they said it for Celine. Even Oprah does it. She says Celine is the best selling and then the next time Mariah makes an appearance at her show she says that Mariah is the best selling. Mariah also received an award telling her and the world so. That's what I meant, we'll never know which one is the best selling so it's pointless to argue over that. + we know that Madonna is also presented as the biggest selling female artist.

 

Of course Celine's fans would want and say that Celine is the best selling. Mariah's fans would want and say that Mariah is the best selling. Madonna's fans would want and say that Madonna is the best selling. As soon as the fans of these 3 realise that we all will be happier

After the Hero performance, he called her "the biggest star in the world" and that she deserves more recognition as a song-writer. He was definitely very happy and proud to have her on the show.

 

And she really deserves more recognition as a song-writer. Nobody cares about who writes the song which is shame.

HAAAAhahaha yeah chill out!! I like Mariah - i was just comparing - i didnt say anything bad about mariah!! i actually said more bad things about celines performance haha - just comparing saying how mariah looked as uncomfortable as celine did - what i meant by that was that maybe the studio and environment arnt the best to perform in for what they're used to.

I Loved Mariah´s performances of I Stay In Love and Hero both beautifully done.

There were some tecqnical problems during Hero performance but Mariah pulled it off cause she is who she is just like Celine both females are touched by God.

 

The only thing i hated was the background singers they kept whisteling and ruined it nearly Mariah didn´t reach her Whistle Range but she hit a C6 in a Chest note in I Stay In Love-Hero.

That tells me she still has her 90´s voice inside.

 

She didn´t mimic she sang 100% live cause she was concentraing on the song and performance she has never been a great dancer she always stands like this when performing difficult songs.

 

I Don´t care what other say about her performance if she were lipping or not for me i loved it and it made me cry.

 

Mariah and Celine my number #1´s always.

 

 

I Think the reason is why there hasn´t been a Celine dion week is that.. she isn´t a Songwriter just occasional one she get´s songs from other´s.

And they are also to hard to sing like Mariah´s but Mariah is a Songwriter so that is why they had a Mariah Carey week.

No she didn't had surgery. She said that it's too dangerous to do it.

ISIL makes me almost feel the 90's Mariah is back.

I don't know if you've been watching the same performance, but I LOVED it!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I stay in love: SOOOOOO beautiful!!!!! I liked the way she and the backing singers switched lines. And WOW, how she hit the last notes of the song! I loved the raw edges which gave it even more emotion. And she looked stunning! Finally a bit more glamour!

 

Hero: Lovely, lovely, lovely! Gorgeous dress!!!!! I always love the version with the choir. Brilliant!

 

And just standing still? GREAT! She is a singer, not a dancer. When Mariah sings a ballad, I don't need to see her moving around. Standing still, concentrating on the song, gives it so much more emotion. I had goosebumps! LOVED it!

 

The only thing which dissappointed me a little, was the chosen songs by the contenders. Mariah has written over 30 hitsongs in the UK, still they chose to sing 4 cover versions...

"I Stay in Love" was just beautiful. Loved it.

 

"Hero" was OK for me. I never liked that song very much first of all, so when she sang it, I was like, yeah, whatever. But her vocals made me have that "little window of hope" when I believed that she may still be able to sing her 90s stuff without sounding too bad.

 

Overall, her lack of motion doesn't tick me off one bit because we all saw Celine not do almost anything while singing 'an edgier, rock song'. So if Mariah stood still while singing her ballads, I don't mind one bit. But I have to agree with Bellamy when he said that she should have used a mic stand. It could have been like her 2006 Grammys performance where she used the mic for "We Belong Together" and then later in the end, she gave it up and also didn't use the stand for her performance of "Fly Like a Bird".
