Oh, I feel bad for the fans, especially since this is the first real show of Celine in Mainland China after all these years. And usually concerts in Asia are like at least 2 hours long, and many go on for 3 hours, with lots of costume changes and stage effects.

As for why Celine appeared to be not really in mood, I wonder if this could be one of the reasons... Remember that Celine went shopping at the Alley, and it was reported that 9 bags of stuff were delivered to her that evening. Today, this story has also been reported by various Chinese newspaper in Hong Kong, but the headline is "Celine shopping for A-products." In Hong Kong, people call counterfeit products as "A-products" since in mainland China, they classify those counterfeit products in different levels, and the A-level are the best counterfeit products of all, as 99% look-alike of real stuff. The article quoted some of the local people saying that the store that Celine visited sells a lot of the counterfeit products.

So could it be that Celine found out later in the evening that she had indeed bought fake-products for all the money that she had spent?

Now that also explains why Mama Dion was looking worried in all those pics that were taken in the Alley, including the one above. Maybe she was trying to stop Celine, "My daughter, are you sure those were real stuff. They looked counterfeit to me."

Aw gosh, I'm so sorry that things didn't go well for you guys! *Hugs.*

So what exactly was the problem, did she seem upset? angry? or just bored and like she didn't care?

It's so unusual for her to be like that...

And was she ok at the press conference?

It's kinda bugging me what appears to be a very stringent 90 minute limit on the concerts so far in the tour where Celine is on stage for what 75 minutes? Better than nothing I suppose.

It seems to me that the situation of China in these moments is very difficult and you know already Celine it she has so many problems with her concerts in China. I do not think that it she has been not pleasant at all to not also be able to celebrate Beiging's concert and not to be able to do the changes of wardrobe that normally this foreseen that it she was doing in during the concert (what I read is that they asked for her the organizers for request of the authorities of the country).

Equal it she had an bad day but it seems to me that there must exist things most serious that we do not know. What if we know is that as Celine herself has said, that she gives 100 % of the capacity and possibility that she has in this moment.

But I believe it's because of the political situation in China right now and also because of the cancellation show - how it was reported by the media etc. I think it was only a bad day and she will be great for the next shows

Of course that all may be because of politics, because of unlucky shopping, because of organizing problems etc. etc. etc.

But that can't be an excuse for fans' disappointment and sadness!

Just let's hope Céline and her closest ones don't experience any serious personal troubles which may affect her/their happiness...

Yeah...hopefully the next concert will be better...that's not for another 24 hours....let us know how it goes, if anyone is going...

I just can't imagine why this happened, other than the stress in China, or her being tired...I mean, she seemed well enough to sing? And her family is all with her? So I dunno what's wrong. I'm not sure whether to feel sorry for the Chinese fans, or worried about Celine, or both...

Bellamy, I really feel for you guys. I was hoping to be able to meet you guys but I didn't know where to look and how you guys look like. I'm surprised Ramona was there. I wonder if she's coming to KL. :rolleyes:

Anyhow, I was at the stand, somewhere on the side and Céline was but a stick figure from afar and I really feel for you the fact that she didn't give her all. I didn't realize it was that bad from you guys, but then again, you guys bought the most expensive seats, but yeah, it wasn't an all out Céline concert. It was as though the show must go on and she just went out there, did her "duty" and went off.

I had one word to sum up: Disappointing. But only for her costume because I was looking forward to the many dresses but it was TOO cold, I presume, that's why she didn't change her clothes.

As for the overall concert, she did what she had to. Whether or not she did her best, I couldn't really tell. I sure hope it's a one off thing only. It would be horrible if she continues on like this with Malaysia. :confused:

But I have to say, there were a few times I caught her signalling to her mic and her facial expression on the earpiece, I'm thinking, she was affected by some technical issues because her timing with the band was slightly off. (This is from a musician's point of view)

I don't know. :shrug:

There's all sorts of drama going on in China right now: people are protesting the 2008 Olympics set for Beijing; protesting the treatment of Tibetans; and in Shanghai, a Chinese court has just sentenced former Communist Party official Chen Liangyu to 18 years in prison for corruption, in one of the most high-profile scandals in recent Chinese history. And, in the midst of all of this, petite award-winning singer Celine Dion just gave a concert performance at Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai, China. Yikes!

Celine was in China as part of her Taking Chances World Tour. Thank God that went okay! Protect our little Celine! The peace-loving, soul-wrenching vocalist is now on her way to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and will be going next to the United Kingdom, then Belgium, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland, Monaco, and then back to the US and Canada.

I don't know if her 7-year-old son Rene-Charles Dion Angelil is with them, but if so, that is one well-traveled boy!

Bellamy, I didn't seen the show.How I wish I could. But I feel the same way to you too. I noticed it from the video from press conference. Anyway, I hope you won't stopping supporting Celine with that kind of experience.I know you still love her. :in_love:

Maybe she's too tired and so exhausted that's why. There's a reviews from Celine's official website, maybe you can give your feedback to them with regards to the show. :thumbsup2:

I don't think Celine felt upset due to pirated merchandises in China. Everyone knows that such kinds of stuffs are common in China. If you do shopping in China, you must not complain that they are faked. And I don't think Celine linked the issue with the performance. It's a different point.

I believe it's a topic we can't find out.

P.S. So bad it was just 90 minutes like Macau. I think Shanghai would see much more songs.

ok this is just ONE person's opinion. i'm sure there were thousands of other people who would agree that the show was great. all of a sudden we think that she put on a bad show just because of this one person's opinion and that is not right. some people just aren't going to like what they see and they will have a difference of opinion. but i guarantee you that celine wasn't boring; she's never put on a boring show even on her worst day.

I am very concerned to hear about this show. Something is just not right...

Was this an outdoor stadium?? Even if it is cold...stage lights are very hot and that combined with all of the dancing and the moving around should even things out. Did Celine speak a lot throughout the show? Or explain why she wasn't changing or anything?

As for the seats...that is just unacceptable. I would DEFINITELY DEFINITELY complain. Perhaps you could start up an online petition and then send it in to the relevant parties about unacceptable that is.

I'm thinking it's probably technical issues. I wouldn't believe the rumours.

I'm not saying it was a bad show, it was a great show. Her voice was in quite fantastic shape, there were a couple of off-key notes, but hey, in such cold weather like last night, I think she sang her heart out. I liked her addition to All By Myself. I got it on video on my camera. hehe....

Except, what Bellamy saw, her facial expression, I caught some of it too on the LED screen. I really think it's because she probably can't hear herself or her band or something was wrong.

All in all, she is still the professional that she is. I won't know what the atmosphere is like in the front but from what I saw, more seats were filled in the overflow rather than the floor. The RMB3000 and RMB2000 sections were quite empty at some parts.

What's best though is that they didn't even check my bag! I brought in my camera in pretty full view and no one stopped me. They DID have a banner saying, NO PROFESSIONAL CAMERAs allowed. Mine's just a normal digital camera.

But my personal opinion is that something is going on backstage...

But also I know that Celine wouldn't like to dissapoint fans , very much of them coming all the long way from their countries , just for the backstage thread's sake...

I guess though that Celine didn't meant to be dissapointing for the fans...of course not,but maybe she was a little bit upset about the outfit's thread...

Korea,as an example ,since it's more in the north than Shangai, it must be colder (I guess :shrug: )

But in Seoul she wore the 5 outfits...so maybe she has worn only one outfit due to some restrictions...and I guess that's why she was a little bit upset and so wasn't at her best in the concert....I think. :hmm: Celine is an human being.

It's difficult to finish with a conclusion of all this...but I think that was the reason ....

and to CSCfan.... Elise could be under the same restrictions too.... :shrug: (think about the 5 outfits in Seoul)...

All I hope now is that Celine will be at her best in Amsterdam!!! :w00t:

Hi Bellamy

I’m disappointed to hear that you didn’t had a great time at the concert I really do :down: , but at the same time I think you are and some people here are overreacting. Like somebody else stated a lot of people already went to the concert and on the forum and in other reviews on the internet there where a few critic lines but overall everybody was excited and because one person is not just disappointed but beyond negative with comments like “I won't feel like buy anything from Celine for a long time maybe. I think maybe you had a bad day and not Céline ?

I mean going to a concert and seeing a not so enthusiastic Céline as a fan would make me disappointed but not so negative as you are in your review. Although you where stating that you meant that she had one bad day and that you don’t hope she will continue like this for other fans. In other comments that’s not what you’re saying through the lines. What comes to my mind when I read your feelings is like I went to 100 concerts and 90 of them sucked she broke up with me and I don’t want to see her ever again. Like you have seen 1 concert and it wasn’t as you hoped it would be and that’s very disappointed for you but don’t scare other fans who are now afraid of the concert they are going too and will see every sad look as it’s worst.

Like I said I feel sorry for you but don’t project it on other concerts. You have all the reason to be disappointed as you feel it, but it feels like you beyond disappointment and I think that’s a little overreaction. Maybe today you feel happy and where lucky enough to attend 1 concert while other people can’t see her at all.

For the price of the ticket I give you al the right to be angry that just sucks and team Céline (or the people who make those prices) should be ashamed of them selves.

She's a big girl. She's 40.

The Shanghai Stadium seats 80,000 people.

Although it was not a full house, the concert could have grossed anywhere from $5 to $15 million for a 1.5 hour concert.

When you make that much money, you better give it your all.
