(How long didn't we wait for the Vegas dvd? And we survived, didn't we? )

 

Actually the DVD from AND in Vegas was released prior to the ending of the show in Vegas. So we didn't have to wait that long.

In the AND situation it was reasonable that the DVD/BD would only be released after or near the ending of the performances in Vegas.

 

In this case however there is probably something different going on. The footage was shot wel prior to the end of the tour and yet they haven't released it nor will it be released this year.

 

It will become clear... Sooner or later

The AND DVD came right at the end, I remember going to see the broadcast in theaters before you could get the DVD and people who didn't know thought they were showing the last show live or something. I had already bought my tickets for the TC tour so it was like what... a month before it ended? Didn't have to wait that long??? It was almost 5 years!!! I never got to go to Vegas, so I was looking forward to the DVD for a very very very very very long time

 

Sad times! I guess I will have to pull out my on personal tour footage for a little while longer. Gah this means that the DVD won't reach people who saw the tour when it first started until 2 years + after they saw it!!

I personally believe that this has happened because of the court ruling a few days ago to release a film about MJ, regarding the tour rehearsals etc..

Having been given the green light on this project apparently they hve a deadline to meet in October, to show it to the family, aeglive etc before it gets released.

And now that its been giving the go ahead, it will then be released for Xmas!

 

So I think all hands are on deck now at Sony to work on this project, as there is hrs of footage to go through and edit, then promo etc, and getting it released worldwide in 2/3 months is a huge task, so I believe other projects ( this dvd ) has been put on the back burner because of this...

 

And as I said this decision was made very recently!!

I honestly don't think the MJ movie is related to the CD TC tour DVD...

 

The MJ movie will be a movie theatre release and is scheduled for October 30 to premiere woldwide in the theatres. It will be a documentary style movie documented with footage shot behind the scenes and during rehearsals.

 

The CD TC tour "movie" on the other hand is a DVD/BD release with no release in theatres. Both are made by different companies.

 

We'll have to wait, but I think it can be still be a long wait before they actually release it.

You'll have to see it from the other side, releasing a DVD while the show was still running strong would be a very very bad move in terms of lost revenue. If they released the DVD like they had originally planned they would have a huge amount of revenue due people that wouldn't mind going to the show since they would be able to see it on the DVD. I'm quite certain that AEG Live / HET (Harrahs Entertainment) had a clausule in the renewed contract for the additional years that prohibited the release of the DVD before the end of the shows in Vegas...

 

Sometimes you'll have to look it from a different point, then you'll see that it's not that unusual what they did

Don't be to hard on him. There were multiple rumours (even directly from Sony) that the discs would be released this year. It was just never officially confirmed and it didn't in the end.

 

He just tried to do the best which I appreciate (and you should also appriciate it). I can actually confirm that there we indeed very strong rumours from the "inside" that the disc would be released... It was even made public by some media also...

Why am I not surprised!?!?! It's AND... all over again! And it better not be some lame excuse like "We didn't like the hair, so we trashed it". Let the waiting game begin.

Maybe Celine is pregnant and won't be able to promote the DVD this fall? Just a theory. Most likely not the reason.

 

If Sony makes us wait until next fall for this DVD, well I can't even muster words for how angry I would be.

I totally agree with you. He did it for us and just reported the news he got from them. If they changed their plan Darren has not fault. So... Darren, you're great and thanks a lot! ;)

Im really annoyed and upset about this!!!! I was so excited just like all of you were! I hope that they are planning on giving us something this year. Im sure sony will try to make money of of celine this year as usual, so lets expect something. Im carnt descibe how upset i am about this tho, Sony are a pile crap, The fans are inportant! If we all complain do you think something will get done?

 

BTW, if its extra staff they need because of MJ, then im sure we would all volenter fro free to get this DVD out in stores lol

wheter it will be released or not, i hope the excuse is: we had toooo many hours of film, so we add 6 more hours on a few disc! so we can deliver an 10 disc package in spring 2010

Hmm, you completely missed my point, I wasn't comparing the two like that. It took years between us (or me at least, can't speak for the rest of you) first hearing about a dvd and til we actually got one. We've waited before - we can do it again. I'm sorry if you don't understand what I mean

As I'm not wrong I thought that the initial AND dvd was announced prior to the renewal of the Vegas contract which added a couple of years to it. So in the case of the AND dvd I think it was more or less expected that the dvd would be postponed. (and you can be sure that the official message concerning the short air was just some lame excuse )

 

It would be stupid (or bad management) to release the original dvd like promised when they new the show would continue for some additional years.

 

I suppose this time it won't take another 2 years for the TC tour actually being released on DVD/BD.

Yes. The TC tour DVD will be produced by Production J, which has nothing to do with MJ.

Well, I didn't actually expect them to keep the November 2009 date, so I'm not so surprised.

I'd like to think it will be a really amazing dvd and that's why it's being pushed back, but I'm doubting that as well.

well lets just hope that this doesn't turn into the same thing they did with the first A New Day DVD from 2004... She had one of the best tours of 2008 and 2009 and they would be dumb to not release it... maybe we just don't know something.. like maybe she will be recording a new English Album... she'll be back at Caesars in 2010.. and they want to release it all at once.. kind of like a Celine Marketing Frenzy! Lets stay positive and just hope that they do this all the right way.. id rather wait for them to do it all right instead of not do it at all..

but that has nothing to do with celine...Productions J are the ones producing it and sony is just distributing it...it doesn't have to do with them
