RDMH lip synched????? strange? sounded very much live to me. watching the trailer i can clearly hear her take a breath. now if you going to lip synch surely you don't need your mic on for that? :ermm:

yeah also to me and it didnt sound las vegas version..i dunno! :blink:

To me RDMH definitively sounds LIVE (sung live not AND version)! :yes: But anyway live or not it's gonna be thrilling to watch a new CBS special after five long years!!! :D

Why does TLYM get so much promo space all of a sudden?! And no TC songs... :confused:

 

Rename the tour!!! This isn't the Taking Chances tour this is the Greatest Hits tour.... :glare:

Sounds and look amazing! The did lower the key in The Prayer tho... Sounded better in original key but still amazing. She looks hot in that gold dress.

 

We had the one piece-suit era in the 90s, it's now the short dresses era!

Looks good. Are you sure that RDMH is from the DVD? Her vocals sound a little different at the start of the song, going into the second verse.

Show Review:

 

Okay...here we go.... (apologize for the delay - it took me a while to research the song titles and make sense of this amazing experience)

 

The taping was supposed to start at 7:30pm and we received our tickets at 7:00pm (eeeek!) because my sister's boss (the company's owner) had the tickets and she came late.

 

The Wiltern theater is located in downtown LA by the Korean town and the marquis at the theater just said "Special Event". There was a huge line and there were people with cameras and microphones getting interviews from the people in line. There was a special sign for the "Celine Team" by the entrance of the theater. When we entered they were already serving drinks and hors d'oeuvres(sp?). My sister and her husband entered the VIP area and my other sister and I went upstairs to the mezzanine area.

 

The show's producer came on the stage and welcomed us to the taping. He said that they have missed Celine (they produced her past TV specials) because she has spent the last 5 years in Las Vegas and that they were all excited to work with Celine again to kick off her World tour and her new CD. *At this point, the excitement in the air was palpable*

 

Moments later, we can hear the director(?) telling us that we have 10 seconds and started counting down.... "6, 5... start applause" (so we all start screaming and clapping). The curtains opened and CELINE! started dancing and singing to "River Deep Mountain High" with her dancers surrounding all around her. At some point the sound went out... as in no sound at all. Celine stopped and looked at her dancers who just kept on dancing (hee!). Then we can hear Celine say... "something broke but I'm glad its not my dress!" (we all laughed). So...they had to start over again... Oh! Celine was in short gold dress... VERY stunning and beautiful. After this song they told us Celine will change into her next outfit (and we can hear Celine say..."don't worry its easy to take this dress off") hee!

The Power of Love – She dedicated this song to Jennifer Love Hewitt and her fiancée (both were in the audience)

The Prayer – Josh Groban – she spoke about the time when she sang “The Prayer” during the Grammy’s ten years ago: that Josh stood in for Andrea Bocelli for the rehearsals and how Josh (age 17 then) was so nervous. Very cute segment.

 

 

(Black top/jacket with black pants)

Taking Chances

"Keep your eyes on me (?)" - with Will.I.Am ( who broke his foot left foot a couple of days before the taping but was still onstage with Celine)

 

(White top and black boots)

“Something” with Joe Walsh (they did this two times - she said that this is one of the times she is glad to do a re-take! Its such a great experience to sing with Joe Walsh on the guitar); Celine also came down to the audience and hugged Olivia Harrison after this song(George Harrison’s widow)

Alone (AWE.SOME!)

Woman In Me (You’re right Je! Reminiscent of Janis Joplin!)

 

Black gown (GORGEOUS)

Medley: Its all coming back to me now, Because you loved me, To Love you more (Goosebump-worthy)

My heart will go on (I will be humming this song for the next few days – hee!)

 

 

 

For the show, they also taped some people from the audience asking her questions (can't remember all of them but will post them as I recall the Q&A):

 

David Foster: After 20 years Celine, who wears the pants?

Celine (laughs out loud): You know Renee - he's very focused and organised... he wears the pants and I'm the boss!

 

A lady: How will going on a world tour compare to living in one place like you did this last five years in Las Vegas?

Celine: I loved Las Vegas! It was such a wonderful experience. I am also excited to tour in the next two years because my Mom who is 80-years old will be with me and my son will also be with me!

 

Jennifer Love-Hewitt: Who are/were your influences musically?

Celine: There has been soo many...but being from a family with 13 brothers and sisters who are all musically inclined (and parents, too!), they put me on our kitchen table when I was 5 and had me sing. At that time, it seemed that they were enjoying themselves and when my parents had this restaurant, my brother will play the piano and I will sing for the people and we had to stop doing that because the people won't leave when it is time to close the restaurant at night! I would say, my family are the biggest musical influence in my life.

 

A man: I heard you cook well. What are your favorite dishes to cook?

Celine: I love to cook. I love making left-overs better! (got a big laugh from the audience) I love making pasta dishes but I can't stop at one... I have to make bow-ties, spaghetti,... Renee seem to like my cooking! I do not do it often but I like cooking.

 

Corbin Bleu from the High School Musical was there and he asked a question (I can't remember!) but Celine did go down to him and asked him if she could give him a kiss on the cheek. She said that she and her son LOVE watching him on TV. She pointed out that she talked more than Corbin did - "I love taking and chatting!"

 

In between taping, segments of her TV specials she's done in the past were shown. One of them was when she sang "All The Way" with an on-screen Frank Sinatra. Another one was when she sang "River Deep Mountain High" on top of Radio City in New York. Another one was when she sang "I drove all night". They showed this tape of her singing with short hair and pants with suspenders but I forgot the title of the song. They also showed her singing a song to Renee while they showed parts of their wedding in the background.

 

 

There is soo much to share and my brain can't recall everything... (I guess I should have planned ahead and brought pen and paper - but was too excited to think about it. SO I had to write this from memory) - sorry guys!

 

What stood out is just how warm and down-to-earth Celine is with the audience. She is a spectacular performer and singer. I think the Vegas experienced has helped her grow a lot more as a singer/performer. I watched her concert in LA in the late 90's and she just has sooo much more "intangibles" in her performance (can't describe it). BUT back then, she is as warm and wonderful and down-to-earth as she was last Saturday.

 

It was interesting how in between taping she kept on talking with the audience and trying to make it fun for us (when she's not changing into her next outfit). She kept thanking us for being patient and for having so much energy in clapping and cheering for her. The taping ended at 10:30pm (an hour later than they anticipated).

 

Of course, the standing ovation at the very end was long and loud! We LOVED Celine. And we knew she loved us back.

 

That's a review of someone who went! I got it from another forum so it may have been posted already.

 

I seriously CANNOT wait to see it.

But sadly I will be traveling on the 15th, so I have to watch it when I get back. :cry:
