Well I can understand they release the Josh Groban duet since they would like to cash in on his selling success with his X-mas album, this boy is huge now. But maybe they should have done "Eyes on Me - Ballad version (Duet with Josh Groban.)"

Anyway, he selled a lot ON Xmas time! It's not xmas anymore. They are trying to connect her fans with Josh's (the people who bough his xmas album). But it's pathetic. They need to promote TCH, and it's not the same line as Josh....

I'm right there with everyone thinking that the people who are making the decisions about Celine's singles are way out of touch with what's going on in music media today. However, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but just last week, I believe, I was looking at the Billboard charts here in the USA and the song Taking Chances was still climbing the Adult Contemporary charts (which, let's be honest, is the only place Celine is going to chart well on anymore) and was now at #6 PLUS it miraculously was #1 on the Dance Club Chart. So, from that data, it looks as if TC as a single is only NOW doing well so I can see how, logically, it wouldn't make sense to throw another Celine song out there on the radio. Discuss.

If they couldn't promote TAST when the "special" ed came, why now? The Prayer is in the past, and she had it as hit already, it was Oscar nominated in 1999, since then every popopera newbe has covered it. Why does she cover herself?!

 

And it's not on Taking Chances, it is not on Josh's latest album...

 

People it's settled, sony doesn't know about that Taking Chances is released... That explaines why she mostly promote her old hits and now rereleases one of them as single.

 

The Prayer is only loved by hard core fans and old people, fans already have the song, old people don't know how to download it - et voila another flop, mission complete!

They don't have brains, thought that was made clear long ago.

 

They are robots, but not the smart kind. They all have the Windows Vista as their operating system, and it bugged on new years eve, jumped back to 1999. They think TAST was Céline's latest abum and they have sent her on LTAL tour again, promoting her greatest hits, and releasing old hits all over again.

 

I am sorry folks, we wont see any further promo of Taking Chances until their brains are on 2008 again, in.. 9 years. See you guys on the TC tour in 2017!!!!

I have a strong feeling that, while Celine was prepared to 'take chances' with her new album, Sony are not and they would sooner Celine stick to her usual sound and audience. Thay clealry have little faith in her ability to attract a new audience and are promoting her with old material instead of her recent work.

 

If they would only take small risk and make her new stuff available to a wider audience I am sure they would be pleasantly surprised!

Each day that passes on Céline's career I'm more convinced that there is someone at Sony that wants to sink her career Maybe someone related with other Sony Music artists to eliminate her off the game, but the latest decissions that they take since 2002 are completely ridiculous!.

PALISADES PARK, February 11: Alfred Haber Distribution, Inc. (AHDI) has acquired the international rights to the one-hour CBS Network special Céline Dion: That's Just The Woman In Me.

 

Premiering February 15 in the U.S. on CBS and on CTV in Canada, the special highlights Dion’s first concert since ending her five-year musical engagement, A New Day, in Las Vegas and is her fifth special on CBS. The program was taped before a live audience at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on January 12, and features Dion performing hit songs such as “Something,” “River Deep Mountain High”, “Power of Love,” “Taking Chances,” “Alone” and “That’s Just The Woman in Me,” among others.

Looking forward to digital single of The Prayer. Just started visiting this forum after finding out about Celine's TV special and Josh being a guest. Have a feeling this song is pretty special to both Celine and Josh. Even if "old", it really is new. This upcoming show made a not so old Josh fan a growing Celine fan.

Well, before Taking Chances was released they had the world's attention, people were ready to recieve a new Céline, to reconsider their judgement on the topic Cileen Deeon. But as we feared they totally screwed it up.

 

People were just starting to say "eh we're able to forgive her for those sappy cheesy soulless ballads of the 90ies, she sounds really nice now, her sound has changed, wow we actually like what we hear... then - boooom!!! All the past hits which had made people dislike her coz of their overplaying, came right back on to their faces, pressured and squeezed to their faces with an attitude of "don't forget these songs, let's overplay them a little more!!" which made even the hard core fans wanna look the other way...

 

And now this.

 

Bye bye Céline's new chance, she had it but didn't take it.

 

I think a harshly worded petition and grievance letter should be composed and sent to Sony Bastardo HQ

uhu! surely that would fit, but would they care, or would we play them in their hands? I think we shouldn't waste too much energy on them. We had done so these past years, and see where it has lead...

 

If a petition is done, please keep out techical demands on how superhightechdefinision sound you want her next single to have...

Oh yea yea, only my post about the choice of making The Prayer a single is off topic... - The single The Prayer is taken from the CBS TV Special 2008, and this topic is about that, and right now there isn't a topic about this single choice, and we can't make new topics all the time.

 

I didn't see you yell off topic at Bellamy, he infact posted the news about The Prayer being a single in this very thread, and he's a administrator, so...

TCH only sent to few radio stations, wait almost 4 months to decide the next single - wait, there wasn't such a decision, except Asia - let her perform old hits on various occasions, have her sing EOM with one of the hottest guys in Music right now and then release The Prayer as digital single???? H-E-L-L-O???

 

what the f*** is SO damn difficult about a well chosen second single internationally??? They've done that ONE SINGLE TIME in the last EIGHT years - and that was IA - which was a good choice for Europe... well.

 

This special is such a good opportunity to promote EOM and release it as digital single the next day - a hit for sure.

You are so right. I'm frustrated about all this. I'm getting tired of her old songs because of that.

 

So I am! I can't stand her to keep singing those old songs and not giving a damn to her new material!!
