Celine's comeback to Las Vegas - March 2011

The only thing I didn't like about Vegas was that after 2003 Celine's voice turned so nasally! Her voice was terrible on the A New Day CD and it's still nasally now after the tour. I hope when Celine returns after she has her baby, her voice will sound great again like it did when she returned in 2002...

Are you sure we saw the same tour? Sometimes I think some people just learnt a new word... To tell you the truth, I think Celine's voice just became ''fuller'' and more powerful during Vegas.

 

I agree, her voice did sound sound fuller on the tour, and towards the end of Vegas. I just can't help comparing her voice between this tour and the LTAL tour. Her voice was a lot clearer back then, especially in songs like ABM...

yeah but the FIY tour and LTAL tour did Céline's voice more bad than good! Sure she sounded better than vegas 2003-2006, but it also put a lot of stress on her voice... I think she sounded awesome on the tour, her voice is still amazing! I don't question that, I question the poor songchoices!

I think in some songs she sings differently to protect her voice- but in the TC tour I think she got far better and fuller towards the end of the tour. Alone for example was so flat and boring in Manchester but in Omaha and alot of N. American dates, she was like a machine- blasting ad-libs and changing it up.

If Celine comes back Caesar's Palace, 70 shows a year will never be enough. She is far to big a star for so few shows a year.

 

Thats only about 5 shows a month. So wish i could go to one, if she does come back. I am so far away, dont think i would stand a chance of getting a ticket anyway.

Well 70 shows a year was the decision of Celine & Rene. The last time was too much for them. The good thing about Vegas is we know where she is gonna be and if we can swing the trip it's fairly easy to plan. It is ideal for their family though, esp when raising a newborn. Nothing is set in stone though, so plans change.

Someone posted magazine scans in the pregnant topic that said that the Vegas schedule is not going to be so intense when it starts, so I wonder if it means that they migh add shows later?

For her this IS stability, this is HER choice, she doesn't CARE (that much) about promotion and popularity anymore (René probably does, but Céline not). This is what SHE wants, not you. This is what SHE is going to do, it's as simple as that. And yes we are in her mind, as this Vegas thing is real and will happen. Because of Céline.

You really need to understand that it's mommy #1 and singer #2 now and not the other way around (so yeah you're asking too much, because that isn't how Céline is now) She could as well give up singing if she wants to right now, then the promo talk also ends right now. Just accept and move on....

Very wise words, well said! And as nothing has been confirmed still and as there's more than 1 year and a half before something of that could happen, that's how I'm acting with this subject.

 

Plus, new recent events have just happened in her life, like everyone knows, and that's big news, that can change all . So that's something to be even more cautious with the statements you declare. But some people seems to be very sure about Céline's future projects and what is in Céline's mind

Oh Lord.

 

Firstly, I shall say about the TCWT

 

The setlist was perfect.

It included some amazing songs that we all wanted to hear, and songs that the general public/regular fan would want to here. I always make my sister an example. I am a superfan, she is a regular fan. She went to hear all the new songs and cool songs, but she wanted to here TLYM, IACBTMN, and IDAN most and she would have been dissapointed not to hear them. She wanted I Surrender too, lol, so did I. But anyway, it's not just us who are seeing her. Not to mention, she could do what other artists of her caliber do and just sing 17 or 18 songs and be done with it. Count TLYM, TPOL, MHWGO, etc as extras to the 18 song setlist, lol! We were spoiled in that regard. I think she makes sure to include them because she wants her fans to feel like they've had a complete show. We should be happy. It was the first time I ever saw her live and let me say that I wouldn't have changed much, if anything, and I am sorry some of you are dissapointed, but I couldn't have asked for much more than I got. And, Celine's fan base is all over the place, and they'd probably not like hearing revamped versions of some songs, and probably would rather here just the regular songs. It would be cool if MHWGO was sung with just a piano, that'd be beautiful Anyway, I understrand the complaints, but C'mon, it wasn't fricken murder! She could have just not tourned then alot of people would have been dissapointed and we wouldn't be getting the picture book, dvd[godwilling], or any of the amazing bootlegs of her performing some awesome #ss songs! I could choose 20 songs I'd love to watch Celine perform and any of you could be very dissapointed by that setlist I chose. I think it was well rounded. I didn't mean to upset anyone either so I hope you all understand what I was getting at.

 

 

 

 

Now, I agree about Celine's voice. It has changed, of course, but I like it wayyyy more now than ever because I feel it's real. It's less mechanical, it has more feeling. I love it. And I think as the tour went on, it got better and better, I definantly agree with that statement.

 

 

 

I wish that Celine would take some time off with her baby, spend time making her own music, writing her own songs and just enjoying herself, and then take the time to make the cd, take the time to record it, and take the time to promote it. And then perhaps go back to vegas, if she must. But she should take her own sweet time, she deserves it and it could only help her voice with the rest she'd be getting :] It would be pretty cool if she had like a voting system on CD.com or something to see which songs should be singles and all that stuff. Em.

Cause only vegas can support the kind of show Céline can offer.. .there's really no other forum for it in the world for a show to be successful. They can't just decide to open a show in Montreal....I mean, people wouldn't be coming through there like vegas, where else in the world would that amount of traffic be going through, and fans just aren't enough unfortunately to support a show like that. I think it's great for her to sing for tourists, etc. I'm sure she sold a lot of stuff, made some new fans

 

Plus like I've said before, Céline is a born entertainer. She LOVES that vegas atmosphere and stage. She thrives off of the fans and crowd. And with all the stability Vegas can offer, she wants that more than anything.

 

I see no use arguing in it, she will go back to Vegas, it's just a matter of when she does go back. She loves it there! She much prefers being on stage and interacting with her fans than stuck in a recording studio...she can do new albums at the same time and incorporate those new things into her show, but Céline is all about the show!

 

She may postpone it a bit, but that's what she loves, especially after a new little one

Probably cos they already have a home there too. Means work but being home too - not much travel. The only other place for them to do that would be montreal, but that isn't the entertainment capital of the world is it??

Although my opinion is she could base in Montreal or Paris also, and do a french show long term instead. Not sure i'd enjoy it as much as an english show - only cos i wouldn't understand the talking parts!! Love her french songs. Maybe that's a "future" future plan!!

Whatever Celine decides to do - i just hope its not retirement. Don't care how long she has off, as long as its not permanent. I look forward to future announcements - and if its Vegas then (hopefully) i'll be there supporting her as always!!

70 shows a year would mean she has family time, and also (i really hope) other projects. So she'd do her show for a month or 2, then have that same amount of time off for other things. I'm fine with that. Let's face it, us fans would have to plan trips to Vegas, therefore buy our tickets earlier. When i was there, a lot of the audience were just people who were there and wanted to see a show. So i think it won't be too hard for us fans to get tickets - perhaps not at first, but definitely once the show is established.

Let's wait and see. And fingers crossed for an announcement over the next 12 months.

And you all need to understand that maybe its YOU who have to accept that Céline can do zillions of things (including NOTHING) apart from going back to Las Vegas .

There are many of you who seem to insist that the only possible future for Céline is going back to sing in Las Vegas, condemning to direct her path to a place as if it was THE only place and thing that she can do, singing forever there in the oblivion . She did it once already. For five years. It's you who are asking for too much. Give her a rest, even if that includes doing NOTHING (if you can understand that!)

That's what I was thinking. Now that she is gonna have the baby before they make definante plans, who knows how Celine will feel afterwards, she may not want to do anything!

Cause only vegas can support the kind of show Céline can offer.. .there's really no other forum for it in the world for a show to be successful. They can't just decide to open a show in Montreal....I mean, people wouldn't be coming through there like vegas, where else in the world would that amount of traffic be going through, and fans just aren't enough unfortunately to support a show like that. I think it's great for her to sing for tourists, etc. I'm sure she sold a lot of stuff, made some new fans

 

Plus like I've said before, Céline is a born entertainer. She LOVES that vegas atmosphere and stage. She thrives off of the fans and crowd. And with all the stability Vegas can offer, she wants that more than anything.

 

I see no use arguing in it, she will go back to Vegas, it's just a matter of when she does go back. She loves it there! She much prefers being on stage and interacting with her fans than stuck in a recording studio...she can do new albums at the same time and incorporate those new things into her show, but Céline is all about the show!

 

She may postpone it a bit, but that's what she loves, especially after a new little one

 

Exactly. Vegas gives her the opportunity to be #1: A mommy and a wife and #2: An entertainer. We know that Celine could just have this next baby and decide to do absolutely nothing but we all know that Celine can't sit still forever. I didn't mean to make anyone mad but the truth is is that if I were in Celine's shoes, I'd want to be in a place where I be both a singer and a parent, and the only place that has enough foot traffic going through it to make a show successful, as some of you have said, is LAS VEGAS. I don't doubt that Celine won't tour for a while, but I know that once baby #2 is old enough, I think she'll tour again. I just don't think that the tour atmosphere is a healthy environment for a newborn child to grow up in. I know some of you think I'm in Celine's head, and I'm not, I'm just looking at both sides of the argument. Both sides have valid points. All I'm trying to say is that if Vegas is confirmed, let's just back Celine 120% like we always have. And I'm sure that if it is true that she won't be doing that many shows as AND... that she will have PLENTY of time to do other things. Let's just give it time. We'll find out soon enough.

Yeah but you have to realise this break and pregnany (whether it worked or not) was all planned. And it was confirmed in that news story about her pregancy that Vegas will definately happen, the question would only be 'when' depending on her pregnancy. Even René confirmed it. Not pregnant? Vegas early 2011. Pregnant? Vegas a bit later.

 

You really can't compare last time with now. Lots of things have changed and are different. The Colosseum has already been built, they already have a house there, she won't be doing 200 shows per year and most important: they have learned from those 5 years Vegas (and know what to do and what not). It's all a matter of time

But why only a show can give stability?? Why not to host a talk show or compose for a herself album or maybe do a movie

 

In my opinion sometimes she works like a machine, and they want so much and isn't good for her healthy

To be honest, I don't think the whole "technically you cannot travel with a show like this" argument works anymore. Some of the biggest bands and acts in the world have toured in recent years with awesome sets and effects which were able to be transported from city to city. If Celine wants to base again in Vegas for family reason that is wholly understandable but let's face it "A New Day..." could've travelled.

 

Anyway, I've made my feelings clear on a return to Vegas clear in the past. It will finally be career suicide for Celine. Yes, she will earn more records for best selling show etc that are really only relevant to Vegas but any relevance she has left in the international music scene will be lost forever and her legacy will not be world's best selling female artist. It will simply be "Vegas headliner Celine Dion." Such a shame.
