Celine's comeback to Las Vegas - March 2011

Celine's career won't ever die, no matter what she does or doesn't do, Céline could never commit career suicide, she's already in the history books! :P She's a living legend. It all comes down to what she wants to undertake. And if people really really really really wanted to come to Vegas or wherever, they would find a way. I mean, if I lived in Siberia and Céline had a show in Vegas, I would work 5 jobs, save my money for 2 years, and go! And it would mean more to me than anything! :P I mean, I would shine shoes if I had to. LOL. But seriously... I would.

The whole Vegas argument stinks. really bad. We should be uniting instead of speculating. It boggles my mind that people are still arguing about this! And it's not even up to us! Arguing and speculating is pointless.

And in the end, Céline will do what she wants to do and it will be right for her. I think she has made it clear she wants to either do Vegas or something similar on a different scale, and I really don't blame her given all of the options. She can do as many other side projects in her own time as she wants(movies, albums, whatever), go rock out at night, and come home to her two babies. Sounds pretty perfect to me as a working woman. It's all about balance for her, her whole life has been about maintaining that perfect balance between what she was born to do (the most awesomest rockstar ever)and the woman in her (mommy)! I think she has done an amazing job so far, she has a level head on her shoulders and good people around her and the most LOYAL FANS IN THE WORLD WOOHOO! ahem.

Stepping off soapbox. :P Let's not argue. Let's be grateful that Céline still loves performing and still wants to give more of herself to her fans. because no matter what she does, we love her and appreciate her sacrifices and extreme hard work and juggling of her life. And let's be grateful that she has this little miracle to look forward to and that she is happy :)

with other vegas show ask a teenager who is Celine Dion and probably doesn’t know, cause Celine doesn't hit anymore

News flash: Celine Dion is pregnant.

Typical reaction from the younger public: "omg i thought she was 48?!"...."isn't she like 50?"...."who's that?"

A bit distressing, to be honest.

Lets face it - Celine doesn't get the coverage worldwide like she used to (and by that, i mean the top tv shows/radio stations etc). She gets piss all over here, and hasn't really had much coverage since ANDHC, a bit but not as much as mid 90's time. Yes, there are many reasons or this, and no i'm not going into that. My point is, Celine won't be breaking the charts etc like she used to. I'd love to see it but i don't think it will. But what she will always have - and this is what she's always wanted - is her audience. She said in very broken english that she doesn't care about chart positions etc, she just wants an audience at her shows. Its the most rewarding part of the music industry.

Why would Vegas damage/finish her career?? Did it last time?? No. After 5 years in Vegas, and not touring the world for 8 years, the TC tour was a smash from the minute the first shows' tickets went on sale. If Vegas was going to damage her career i think it already would have. Its already been said Celine's show won't be for so long etc next time around - so what's the problem. She can still do her shows but also spend the first couple of years enjoying (hopefully) the latest family addition also. After that, who knows?? Maybe even another world tour. Think positive, and enjoy whatever she does. Cos don't you think, if her fans turn their back on her new Vegas show (assuming it def. happens etc, as we all know plans can change), that she'll retire?? I do. She'll think no one really wants to see her anymore. To me, her last thought would be " I have no audience, therefore i'll tour the world" - i don't think so. And that, i really don't want to happen - not yet.

Just my opinion though. :bye1:

well I think that is kinda cos of her own doings; when she was younger, she used to dress like an old lady!! Sure she had great moments, but at times it looked like she was wearing her mum's stuff... Nowadays she has a great stylist and she is more confident of herself...so her clothes are finally sexy and smart!

plus she is married to a guy who is 26 years older, which makes people believe she's older too...

The most irritating thing to me is that people will say Mariah Carey or Kyli Minogue is so hot and sexy and blablabla, while they have the same age as céline! :dots:

Her RADIOPHONIC career is over. That's for sure...

yep I think it died when sony had the brilliant idea to release GTSW -_-

Hmm, what's this I read that D'elles didn't fare that well in France bec. aside from the thing that the writers weren't all from that country, the Frenchies felt neglected cuz Celion confined herself to Vegas, that she became too "Americanized" blah blah?? Edited by Prince Whiskers

Her "radiophonic" carreer might be a little weak, but she's as talented as she was back in 1981, when she started her carreer. She is not focused on receiving awards, she just wants her fans, her audience. We are her fans! She still performs because of us! I know that you all know that, but sometimes, it looks like you've forgot about it.

Not to mention when canadians made boo to her because they thought exactly the same.

Who the hell cares if shes not Top 40 on radio anymore. Shes a friggin legend. ALL divas eventually stop being played on top 40 radio. Whitneys struggling with her lastest single and the only reason Mariah still gets played is b/c she looks like cat in heat and sings songs a 25 years should be singing. Even her star on hit radio will fade soon enough.

Celine is a class act. Lets not wish she changes that.

1. Who says what people shouldn't sing? This society is so ageist. And bringing Mariah into an argument once again to defend Celine is getting old, for everybody. End of story.

Back to the topic, it's not a matter of how old she is. Legends like Madonna are 51 and still have incredible worldwide success in radio and sales. So Celine could have that, she could easily have that. She's only 41. It's just up to the record company, the manager, and in the end Celine herself. She would basically have to spread out her promotion(all of the TC promo she did in the first few weeks was a lot, then it suddenly stopped. Spread it out more and give more room for breaks to let the song grow), shoot music videos, and let the record companies handle the rest. In the end it's up to her, but that is what she would have to do. Plus release good singles, that's always a plus.

To be honest, I agree with everything you and Gonzaillo have said about Celine and Vegas. I agree 100%. But I used to obsess over it also, but to be honest it got me nowhere. It just got me frustrated with Celine and the state of her career. Now I just don't argue as much with it. Do I think Vegas is a mess? Yes, but if I sit here and say that it isn't going to change that she's going to do it. As much as I wish it would change that, it won't. So whatever she wants to do, she can do. It's her mistakes. And here I am now ranting about it. Isn't that ironic. :P

But the whole point is, who are WE to say if it is a good idea or a mistake? Why are we judging her every move before they even announce anything? If they announce Céline goes back to Vegas we should all say WOOHOO. If they announce Céline will start a show in Timbuktu we should all say YEEHAW. If they say Céline is going to sing a concert from the space station, we should all start working on our anti-gravity skills and say YAY OUTER SPACE. Craziness! Be positive!!

Let's all just be good fans and get along and support whatever she does, even if you don't agree with it :P

Well, I agree with you partially. In the way that i'm pretty much done obsessing over the whole Vegas thing. I dunno why I still even argue over it, I used to do this all the time and it just made me unhappy to obsess over it. But I don't think to be a good fan, you have to be happy for and support everything she does. Not complain and argue about it in every thread is one thing, but to put your disappointments completely away and be excited for something like that seems a bit much. At this point, if she decides to go back, good for her, hopefully it works out the way she wants it to. I won't be buying an overly-priced Vegas ticket soon. If she decides not to and to pursue other things, good for her. I hope she's able to try many of the artistic things she's wanted to and please us fans. If she decides not to and retire, also good for her. I hope she finds as much joy in normal motherhood as she's always wanted. Whatever she does, hopefully it works out in her favor.

That's not to be good fans, that's to be stupid fans :giggle: . Support someone doesn't mean to say him/her that every little step he/she does is yupiwhopi. Praising each move she does in her career is something stupid, and you aren't a better fan just to be praising everything she does like a strawberry plant.

She does great things, she makes mistakes (or she behind René -_- ), and we, her fans, have all the right to criticize those steps, (as long as they are good and reasoned critics of course)

I first have to see if I can even get excited about a second vegas show... of course I love to see Céline perform, rather near than far, but I will be there... however I do hope that the show and especially the setlist is original and creative. And that she has some time on her hands to promote her music outside Vegas... however looking at 2003-2007 I don't have much hope

btw I still don't think that in this current financial crisis Céline will be able to sell out shows each night if the most expensive tickets are $230 -_-

They did say that it will only be 70 shows a year and not 200 (I think they've realized that that was a mistake), which means she will have time to do other things. I also remember reading that it will be a much smaller production and that it will be more like a concert.

You are right about the current financial crises... So it probably will be better to wait till 2011.

I have to admit that I'm not totally over the moon ecstatic about the Vegas thing, but if (and read carefully if) she decides to go back to Vegas, I'm all for it. I agree with you Davey, I hope that they do something new with the set list. I'm still dreaming about hearing Celine sing ''My Heart Will Go On'' a capella or with the piano only...

is it expensive to stay in vegas (in a nice hotel) for a week anyone know? i only stayed there on holiday for 3 nights b4 and we stayed in venetian (and this was quite dear!), i know i am jumping the gun, but i want to think realisticly also about whether i can afford this when the time might come! my plane ticket is going to be very expensive also. this is all just me wondering about expenses IF she does go back to Vegas! :boat: Edited by takeachance

There is places to stay in Vegas for all budgets once you are there, from places just outside Vegas, Motels, and Hotels from 2 stars right up to 5 stars right along the strip, so it all depends on what you want to spend! :)
