Lawna Posted September 20, 2009 at 02:32 PM Posted September 20, 2009 at 02:32 PM I would love to have Celine come back to Vegas, whether it be 2011 or 2012...I wouldn't worry too much on turn out, Celine has millions of fans, she doesn't need to woo the young ones to be popular, she already is. Let's face it, Celine is getting old and so are her fans! So it's not surprising that she is not heard on popular radio or other popular music outlets...the majority of people who watch or listen to those music outlets are youngsters. Excuse my ramblings, but that's been on my mind, I don't even know the relevance of what I just said LOL They go crazy for you because they know you're true. --Celine Dionhttp://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz226/Congenialdiva/myspacelink.jpgFollow Me on Twitter!Visit Me on Facebook!
stevo Posted September 20, 2009 at 02:59 PM Posted September 20, 2009 at 02:59 PM If I were Celine and Rene, I'd be taking a good hard look at the response of the media and public towards Whitney coming back...she needs to go away for 5 years and NOT do, say, sing, record, perform ANYTHING. There's been too much and the album sales are slowly dwindling- and I think it does matter- it matters to me, because I want her still to be the best, to sell the most, to have at least some glimmer of a sense of belonging and competing within the industry- she's just overlooked. She needs a hit. It matters to her (no matter what she says- she thrives on the hype and the expectation- she's always said it) and it matters to Rene. I don't want her to go back to Vegas and become stagnated and pigeon-holed. The return to Vegas means goodbye Celine Dion the Superstar in my eyes. It makes me sad.

Fanny! Posted September 20, 2009 at 08:02 PM Posted September 20, 2009 at 08:02 PM I'm sure you already know this, but Gérard Schachmes told us that the contract has been signed for about 2 years. It was supposed to start 18 months after the tour (end of 2010) but because of the baby, she will probably start later. Anyway, since it has been signed, it probably means that she'll definitely be back there! celinesounds Posted September 20, 2009 at 09:11 PM Posted September 20, 2009 at 09:11 PM Why don't she start off the new year with some quality music for a change? Just a thought, Celione. Yeahhhh She'll be back to Vegas to welcome the new year with BYLM, IACBTMN and MHWGO. What a great deal Maybe she's gonna surprise us, she's always good for a surprise. You never what she may deliver in the process. It's just finny that all the gems like Quand On S'aime, Summertime, Bewitched are sometimes more worth than a full album/wishlist of Sony's management team songs "specifically chosen to showcase Celine's gorgeous vocals in this time and day". we never know till happen, but songs like QOS, S and B are like diamonds, once in a lifetime #FREEJAVITO
Bralo20 Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:51 AM Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:51 AM If I were Celine and Rene, I'd be taking a good hard look at the response of the media and public towards Whitney coming back...she needs to go away for 5 years and NOT do, say, sing, record, perform ANYTHING. I don't want her to go back to Vegas and become stagnated and pigeon-holed. The return to Vegas means goodbye Celine Dion the Superstar in my eyes. It makes me sad. Selling records isn't the main goal anymore... Recordsales are going down for years now and there's a simple explanation for this. Years ago people were buying records to listen to and people were happy to spend 25 USD for a disc with the latest songs or a collection of best of songs. But those years have vanished and will never come back... I'm sure Céline will sell millions of records from every record she produces but the amazing figures will be gone for good and not only for her but for every single artist... The internet has caused a drop in sales that cannot be overturned. The day a record is released it's allready available on numerous websites to download for free... And although authorities are chasing the people who are doing this, it has no use at all... For every single group or person who get's caught there are 5 others who are willing to take over... The same with movies... One day after a release you can allready download it in decent quality (although being a screener). So artists are looking for other oppurtunities to make money (yes, it's all about money even when an artist really loves her/his fans a lot), you have to know that behind every big artist is a huge staff, staff that needs to be paid... There are office or storagebuildings that need to be paid, cars that need replacement, etc... Being an artist is not only about performing it's all about running a business (or multiple) too... They have to take care of their staff. An artist like Céline is not an artist that can say: hey, I'm going to stop for a year or five, let's close some businesses that I don't need anymore and fire the staff. Some can do it but I'm certain that Céline nor Rene is such a person. So there's need for revenue. And at that point most artists are chosing for perfomances... We never saw so many world class artists perform as during the latest years. Simply because they need to find other ways to get money... And a show is still something that people are willing to pay for... Even big bucks... Because they get something back for their money... They can see an artist perform in real life and enjoy the music in the best way possible... Why spending 25 USD for a CD that's available for free if you look for it? People are more and more watching about their money. CD sales will go further down untill the bottom has been reached to the point that the true fans or collectors only are bying the discs... Legal downloading (like ITunes) will gain some business if the prices are staying low enough but the real problem is illegal downloading. Something that every single one of us did before or are doing now (which I certainly cannot blame, it's very tempting after all). I do agree with you that she needs a new hit and I'm pretty sure this will come soon or later. But the new Vegas show is the best solution for everyone... Especially for her. She can rest between performances, enjoy life and spend time with her family and she doesn't need to travel much. It's the perfect way to be a good mother and spouse and still being able to stay in the spotlights... It's a win win situation for Céline, her family, Harrah's Entertainment, AEG Live, Sony ME and certainly Las Vegas which can use the boost that Céline can give to the town... Just my 2 cents ...
Claudette Posted September 21, 2009 at 10:34 AM Posted September 21, 2009 at 10:34 AM (edited) You are absolutely right. Celine is still one of the best selling artists even with all this illegal downloading, the economy being bad and little promotion... Every time I come in here, people are going on about how going back to Vegas is going to kill Celine's career end blah blah... As we say in Afrikaans: ''Julle gaan haal die bobbejaan agter die berg''. I did not know there are so many fortune tellers on this forum... We don't even know for certain that this show will actually happen or what type of show it is going to be if it does, but some of you know that it will be the end of her career and are already complaing about the set list... amazing... O yeah, and can someone perhaps give me the link where I can find Celine's message/letter/note in which she asks us to decide what she must do next in HER career... Somehow I missed that... Belle Céline Posted September 21, 2009 at 03:44 PM Posted September 21, 2009 at 03:44 PM (edited) I just hope tickets dont cost two hundred dollars this time, its going to be pretty much impossible for me to make it to Vegas unless I get a job very very soon and start saving like every paycheck I get because its going to cost a fortune for me to fly from WV to LV and not to mention finding a hotel, cheap hotel and food. IF big IF I do get to go to Vegas IF Celine does go back then I'm probably only going to be able to afford one show (depending on ticket costs) and a two day one night hotel stay. I would only need a room to sleep after the show and I'd leave the next morning so I just want somewhere cheap. I mean I'm probably jumping the gun since this hasn't really been confirmed absolutely one hundred percent for sure yet. I just hope it won't be a fortune for tickets this time and I hope that I will be able to make it to Vegas this time. Though its a big IF I get to go assuming she dose go back. Of course I'd have to find someone to go with me and I don't know anyone who would be willing to spend the money to travel all the way to Vegas with me to see Celine. I had to practically beg my best friend to go see her in Columbus with me last year and I had to ask her to go with me as a birthday present to me or I wouldn't have had anyone to go with and wouldn't have been able to go. Prince Whiskers Posted September 21, 2009 at 06:25 PM Posted September 21, 2009 at 06:25 PM Selling records isn't the main goal anymore... Recordsales are going down for years now The bestselling 2009 album so far (U2) has sold just 3.3M copies. Anyway, it shouldn't be a surprise if CelDi returns on Dec. 2010 since the show is supposed to be stripped-down with just her and her band. Rehearsals won't be as arduous as what an elaborate, choreographed, strictly-timed show like AND demanded. http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg

Rehearsals won't be as arduous as what an elaborate, choreographed, strictly-timed show like AND demanded. To be honest, i don't really care what songs she sings - as long as the new show will be more off the cuff. I want Celine to be herself and ad lib when she wants, talk and respond to the audience like she always did on tour. Not have a show like AND where it was timed from the very second the glass broke!!
Tyler1991 Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:32 PM Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:32 PM Mariah and Madonna both sold just under 3 Million with there last albums. Celine who released her last album about 5 months before Mariah and Madonna did sold just over 3 million. Leona Lewis, who released an album at the same time Celine did sold double that at 6.5 Million.
Edwin Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:34 PM Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:34 PM Hmm the tour Celine was also very much timed including the parts where she would talk to the audience. I will be honest as well and I want a NEW show. Suree, I know she is obliged to play some of the same ole songs, but as long as the other 75% is new material (I'll count old songs that are remixed as 'new') I'll be happy chappy.
Tyler1991 Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:47 PM Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:47 PM Yeah. I'm considering checking to see if some of those speeches are lipped or not. Every bootleg I watch is practicually identical - "This next song is written by Jean-Jacques Goldmen...yes, an incredible french artist. It is the biggest song of my French career...and it speaks about loving someone so much, that you are prepared to do anything for that person's love in return. I guess some of us know what that is like." I'm sure I missed a word here and there but for 6 years, it's been the same. lol How about a new French song? Or why not do PQTME, but also do CNQR and 1 other also. 3 French songs with 15 English songs, 13 of which being hers with 2 being covers (there are a few likeable covers...such as It's A Man's World, Can't Help Falling In Love, and I Got The Music In Me).
Edwin Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:49 PM Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:49 PM No I didn't say they were lipped, I said timed, as in they were scripted so of course it will sound the same at each concert.
Tyler1991 Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:55 PM Posted September 21, 2009 at 07:55 PM I was of course joking. But it is pretty obviously rehearsed. I love most the unscripted moments such as when fans give her gifts and she talks to them while on stage and carries on a funny conversation with the crowd.

I love most the unscripted moments such as when fans give her gifts and she talks to them while on stage and carries on a funny conversation with the crowd. That's what i was talking about earlier!! I know introducing the next song thing is usually scripted etc but i'm hoping for more individual things (that happened sometimes on the tour ) for this new show - but i suppose that comes down to the audience. Celine feeds off the audience, so we'll have to wait and see. And some of the LV audiences i was amongst were bloody boring!! No wonder Celine was in robot mode a lot of the time!!!! Who could blame her ? - not me.
