celine4evauk Posted February 11, 2009 at 06:28 PM Posted February 11, 2009 at 06:28 PM I know MHWGO will be part of the new show - but what about it being halfway through the show as part of a movie medley - she could do BATB, BYLM,TP,MHWGO. People still get to hear them - but it'll be a little bit different. She could even do a movie song that she likes that isn't one of hers too!!

Or she could do another one of her own movie songs that she hasn't performed before like ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh "Then You Look At Me" for example lol. stevo Posted February 11, 2009 at 06:55 PM Posted February 11, 2009 at 06:55 PM I like the idea of a movie medley- gets them over with but yeah- a couple of the new ones could be in there like TYLAM. I'd love IKILY to be part of the show. I love that song.
Kyle_Jared Posted February 11, 2009 at 07:01 PM Posted February 11, 2009 at 07:01 PM Movie Medley sounds awesome!!! you could really make that nice, and yes include some songs not previously performed such as "When I fall in love" from Sleepless in Seatle and "Then you look at me" from Bicentenial Man
CelineFanInSoCal Posted February 11, 2009 at 09:15 PM Posted February 11, 2009 at 09:15 PM This whole idea just makes me nervous and a little sick. Sure, it was a cash cow... Sure, her tour has been a cash cow... But has Vegas had enough of Celine?! If this "new" show is really going to happen, it needs to be actually new, very fresh, and Celine needs to truly bring something, rather than miming her way through half he show [please don't kill me for saying that, but EVERYONE can agree that a mimed performance is much more boring compared to a live song, where the entertainer is truly getting in to the number] and they need to stick with the plan of spread out performances to keep everyone involved excited about doing it. Maybe even a couple different set-lists? [René loves to make money... this would give people a reason to come to the show multiple times, rather than banking on her fanbase to visit so many times. The economy is tight here in the states... people will spend $200 when their favorite performer comes to their city, but may think twice about airfare to Vegas, hotel accommodations, food and all that comes along with a trip to a tourist city just to see a show.] Ugh... I just don't like the idea of so many other people rolling their eyes at the idea of Celine in Vegas, AGAIN. Why oh why?! Just keep to your house in Florida and enjoy some chill time. Make an appearance or a special concert here and there [like Barbra!] and do something big later on, or maybe even not at all.

Shaun Posted February 11, 2009 at 10:39 PM Posted February 11, 2009 at 10:39 PM I know what you mean Paul. I'm far from sold on the idea on her going back to Vegas. If she doesn't want to tour again in the foreseeable future, just don't. Other singers manage to get themselves through the days without booking a Vegas residency. If, as it looks like she will, end up back in Vegas though the show MUST be a completely different spectacle to what "A New Day..." was. I'd even suggest going to the complete opposite end of the scale. No theatrics, no cast of 1000 dancers. Just Celine and her band singing NEW and UNPLAYED before songs and most importantly performing them live. There's no more "200 shows a year so protect your voice" excuse. Kyle_Jared Posted February 12, 2009 at 02:38 AM Posted February 12, 2009 at 02:38 AM To tell you the truth, if she does do 70 or 80 shows a year its a GUARANTEED success....even if its her and piano, it'll sell simply due to the fact its not many shows....its limited. Secondly, if she only does 70 shows it draws less attention the ''vegas-only'' celine. Elton John's RED PIANO didn't pigeon hole him because it was limited....much less shows than "A new day"...he still toured while he maintained that show. I think if Celine does 70 shows a year....she should take a couple of months off at a time....and pop up elsewhere, give a concert here and there, to show she's not just a vegas act.

Davey84 Posted February 12, 2009 at 08:02 AM Posted February 12, 2009 at 08:02 AM Shaun, you should know by now how badly I want such a different direction, but looking at the past 13 years, I don't have much hope left. it seems that Céline's shows are build up arround a few (well many) 'old time succes', that some have become 'public favourites', more do to the fact that she keeps performing them, rather then they were major hits. Now these songs could have been re-invented many times, but they keep playing safe and the only thing that seems to change is their length (only shorter). SO the chance of a totally new show, with a brand new setlist, especially with songs never performed before... That would be so totally amazing, but I don't see it happening http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
Alex_Incognito Posted February 12, 2009 at 11:50 AM Posted February 12, 2009 at 11:50 AM I'd LOVE if it was like her 1985 tour, delicious arrangements of her songs, DIFFERENT songs, a stripped down show. What ever happened to doing some shows with the Montréal symphonie orchestra? I'd kill for a BIG-FRENCH show. "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

mirage Posted February 12, 2009 at 03:02 PM Posted February 12, 2009 at 03:02 PM celine and just a piano... that would be awesome!!! or maybe thats something for her when she is 70 years old and what Kyle says whatever she will do it would be a succes just because its 70 shows a year... and i think they would love to see her sing, have an interaction with the public, and not night after night the same wanna try that chair stuff... but weren't there some rumours about celine and the montreal orchestra?what about the opera project news?
Petya Posted February 12, 2009 at 03:25 PM Posted February 12, 2009 at 03:25 PM (edited) Hmmm...who knows, this is from 30th April 2008, and I think they are not so into the information...they don't know even the date of the end of the tour. And I am sure it wasn't the end of January, even in the beginning. So to me this is not trustful. But it could be great if the new LV is like a concert.OK, now I am confused, there is a date 30.04.2008, but they know for the comeback...I've missed something Edited February 12, 2009 at 03:27 PM by Petya It is the power of the dream that brings us here!http://i.usatoday.net/life/_photos/2007/11/12/celine-mainx.jpg

tearsinheaven87 Posted February 13, 2009 at 08:08 PM Posted February 13, 2009 at 08:08 PM Oh Vegas I have to be honest I'm really not excited with the idea of Céline returning to Vegas. For me, it's all really "been there, done that". Yes A New Day was more successful than anyone thought, yes it was a spectacular show, yes it will go down in history. But history should never be repeated, which I really hope they are not trying to do. If she does return, then I do hope the show is completely different. Not a huge theatrical production. Completely different set list. No giant LED screen. No dancers. No coreography. No running off stage for costume changes every 10 minutes or so. No lipsyncing. Just something simple. Less really is more. Just Céline and her band, having fun and interacting with the audience. A New Day was a fantastic show, no-one can deny it. I just hope that it is laid to rest and not dragged up again. I will admit that I do love having Céline around; recording, tour etc. But no matter how much I want her to stay around and keep making music, what I would really love to see is for her to have a proper break, 2, 3 even 5 years! She has worked non-stop for the past few years. Jumping from Vegas to a world tour. She needs time off to relax. Try for the other baby (which I pray to God it happens for her again). Enjoy spending time with her family, being a mother and a wife. So when this tour raps up I really do hope she takes time for herself and doesn't set a time limit on trying for another baby and returning to Vegas. I seem to be going off track slightly so I leave my two cents at that I was waiting for so long, for a miracle to come...30th May 2008, Croke Park, Dublin, Ireland15th September, Madison Square Garden, New York, USA Rip MJ - may your music live on x x x
browseceline Posted February 15, 2009 at 09:17 AM Posted February 15, 2009 at 09:17 AM oh I really hope she does not go back to Vegas..it is like a bear returing to its hole and goes to sleep for a long long time. And then we have to wait 5 or more years before she decides to make a new album or even go on tour once!Singing the same songs every night over and over ...would that not be annoying and boring for herself? Why not try out all these great songs she never sang before? I can make a very long list but, as you all say here, she will probably sing or mime all the same tracks over and over again. A pity..But maybe just maybe they create something fresh and new. We'll see! <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
