"Taking Chances" ALBUM on the charts

Remember, her world tour will start next year, and that means there will be more people who will buy her album.

Could you explain me why? I mean the people who come to the concerts most certainly already have the album....

Well, a world tour will surely give Celine hit songs that will also be a hit in the U.S. And why just depend on how many albums will she sold in the U.S. when there are more people outside it?

Celine's albums has sold more copies outside U.S. right?

And remember that ONe Heart and Miracle didn't have that promotion and hit/popular songs but has sold a total of:

One Heart: about 6.5 million copies (2 million copies in U.S.)

Miracle: about 3.5 million copies (1 million copies in U.S.)

So expect Taking Chances to sell more than the aforementiond albums.

this album is in it's way to become a worldwide flop...it's not just the u.s - the album is fading in europ too . sony expected this album to sell 4-6 million copies...it won't even sell 3 if something dramatic is not going to happen .

Britney's album isn't in the list anymore :o

At last Celine is doing soo much better than Brit :shifty:

i dont think u can put celine and britney together, totally different tho! music and personality, i think celine is doing good, i am her fan and i dont care whats her position is on the chart, and i think she has achieved what she wanted, and i am jus so proud of her!

At least, as someone says, she sell more than Britney, that even everyone talks about her, she is not sell a lot.

And more than Annie, Jennifer...

how can u even compare betweem celine and britney? celine was everywhere promoting her new album with no effect at all ...britney sold more or less the same with no promotion at all . alicia and josh r selling millions of records more with almost no promotion .

when i say it's a flop i take into account all the promotion that she did - the result is poor , commercialy .

Celine needs immediately a new single and a new video or people will forget about the album!

How can't Sony understand that? Don't they see that nowadays to sell an album you have to produce a single every month. They do this with other artists...why not with Celine?

There are really stupid things that I can't understand!!!

What are they waiting for?

Can you tell me exactly how can the world tour next year help the sales of her new album Taking Chances?
Posted

I am really surprised

Guys!! it is christmas  People are not ready to hear EOM or Alone or FA it is so stupid to release anything before a while , so do not panic .

If the single is strong enough , it will do well even if it is 2 years from now.

And come on!! the album does not appeal to the non fans and we have to accept it even if we do not like it. I believe this album is underestimated.

In the past we we were complaining that Celine is not promoting ...Now promoting ,what is the difference?? She sold more with the most hated OH(like it though) although there were no promotion.

I know I am going to be attacked after saying this :hammer: ,but to be honest, this album is not so different as they have titled or said by Celine herself , besides that One Heart should be titled Celine You Are About to discover because it is so different from what Celine had done before. In my openion, if you take out TTWIM, it is Celine that we all know. She was really different with OH!!

Celine #2 in Canada. Celine sold 45,000 albums last week. Total in 4 weeks: 207.000 copies :kicking:

Josh Groban holds at No.1 in Canada and the U.S.

Josh Groban and Celine Dion continued their holiday struggle for the No. 1 spot in Canada this week.

Buoyed by the usual increase in sales at this time of year, Groban's "Noel" sold 53,000 copies to remain at No. 1, up from 46,000 last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.

Groban also held on to the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling 581,000 copies of "Noel" in the U.S. He has now tied Elvis Presley as the record-holder for the most consecutive weeks at No. 1 with a Christmas album, according to Billboard.com.

Back here, Celine was close behind Groban at No. 2, racking up 45,000 in sales of her latest studio disc "Taking Chances."

With very few new releases this week, the rest of the Canadian album charts pretty much stayed the same. Anne Murray's "Duets, Friends & Legends," "MuchDance 2008," Paul Potts' "Once Chance," and Alicia Keys' "As I Am" all stayed put at No. 3 through the No. 6 spots, respectively.

Garth Brooks' "Ultimate Hits" came up one notch to No. 8, Boney M's "Christmas With Boney M" made its first top 10 appearance at No. 9, and Andrea Bocelli's "Best of Andrea Bocelli" climbed from No. 13 to No. 10.

Three debuts graced the top 60: Annie Blanchard's "Sur L Autre Rive" at No. 30, Godsmack's "Good Times, Bad Times... Ten Years of Godsmack" at No. 51, and Wyclef Jean's "Carnival Vol. 2" at No. 54.

Yeah, I am so happy with how well the album is doing in Canada! I was at Futureshop yesterday, and it was on their best-selling list at #1!

Celine is at #12 this week on the Billboard Top 200 albums

That's not so bad. Try to think positive. She debuted at 3, dropped to 8, held at 8, now dropped to 12. It hasn't been that horrible. :ermm:

the voice has to learn to be a little more positive at times!! This is NOT a flop.

JLO has a flop and so does Britney even if they had a hit single!!

The voice says that Britney had no promotion!! WHAT??? Promotion doesn't mean you have to travel the world and sing on a tv show!! Promotion can also mean to go through a divorce, showing your panties (or none!) to the public, making a fool of yourself by driving into paparazzi, etc. All tv shows, newspapers and radios talked about how messed up Brit was and also adding that her NEW album is coming out!! THAT'S PROMOTION TOO! And much better than doing one tv show after another... :whistling:

So Celine is doing quite well for having only a Top 60 single and no Public Relation Crisis!!!

The album certainly isn't a bomb, but it isn't a true "hit" yet either. As long as it stays persistent until the next single, we have nothing to worry about. I just hope it stays in the top twenty until it starts to climb again.

J. Lo's resounding flop must be Sony's karma for giving her lot of promo at Celine's expense. I'm still annoyed by the fact that her freakin' Spanish album got decent promo worldwide, even here in the Philippines where D'elles was nowhere to be found.

We shouldn't hust focus in the US. The album is falling so fast in Europe!!!!

well, the only thing i can say about my region of the world (south africa) is that every cd store i've been to i've seen posters of taking chances. its getting a big push here and rightly so, before all the promo it had already sold enough to reach double platinum (100 000 copies). I was in a horreendously overpriced cd store last friday and they had a few hundread copies of taking chances. when i went back yesterday they had maybe 10 left. I asked the sales person if they sent the excess back to sony and they said 'no, its selling out.' They've been selling close to a thousand copies a week. at just one store!

so i'm not going to complain about sony S.A

Actually, Alicia Keys has a big hit all over Europe - "No one" is everywhere and her album is selling less than Celine's one without a hit! That's nice!

Same with the UK although the album is now out of the Top 20 it has done really well sales wise, apparently around 150 000 copies which is more than some of the established artists that have sold well in the past couple of years.

More than 1 million copies worldwide in just a few weeks is a great achievement (IN MY OPINION)
