ashie Posted December 17, 2007 at 08:43 PM Posted December 17, 2007 at 08:43 PM Well, all things considered, I expect "taking chances" to sell a total of 2 million copies in the U.S.A by the end of 2008 with her tour and hopefully good promotion and good choice of singles. Maybe a few grammy awards and AMA's in 2009 could boost this album stateside. The album hasn't peaked very high but its sales are remarkably consistent with +- 90,000 copies sold a week in the U.S and 290,000 globally a week. In total by the end of next year all the panic and talk of 'tanking flops' will seem silly cause it would have sold at least 5 million units globally. Remember that world tours keep artists in the news, with promos in many many different countries and it will be a big push for the album. Five million units sold would place 'taking chances' easily in the top ten albums of 2008 in terms of sales. Stop freaking out and just request taking chances on radio if you're worried. Furthermore, with enough promotion and a good single and video, I predict D'Elles to have sold 1.5 million units worldwide by the end of next year. The reason D'Elles hasn't sold well is availability (in south africa anyway). i haven't been able to get a copy of it over here in S.A but most stores have stock of D'Eux, S'il Suffisait D'Aimer, 1 fille et 4 types and even Au Couer Du Stade! Sony only shipped 25, 000 copies of D'Elles in S.A and most stores i've been to say they only had 10-12 copies that are now sold out. Maybe, with the world tour, as Celine arrives in a country D'Elles will be stocked in stores. Also, consider that Celine has outlasted Phil Collins, Michael Bolton, Paula Abdul, Alannah Myles, Sinead O'Connor, New Kids on the Block, Wilson Phillips, Vanilla Ice and Stevie B, Whitney Houston, Gloria Estefan, Amy Grant, Michael Jackson, Vanessa Williams, Boyz II Men, Snow, Ace of Base, TLC, Montell Jordan, Toni Braxton, Spice Girls, Puff Daddy, Hanson, Brandy, Britney Spears, Monica, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Savage Garden, 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys and so on. All of those has U.S number 1 singles and/or albums in the 90's but are no longer Celine's competition. Miracle probably will end off with more total sales than any current album by any of the above listed artists. Celine goes head to head against current popular artists, and like in the past, she won't come out on top, but her ability to connect with her audience and put out real quality music means than in 5 or ten years, her albums will still be charting in the top ten. Finally, if everyone is so desperate for the 'taking chances' album to be the worldwide number 1, then get sony to repackage it to include 'reveal', 'naked', 'i surrender', 'right in front of you', 'another year has gone by' and 'us' and release all as worldwide singles with very good music videos and serviced to all radio stations, not just AC. Call it 'taking chances and missed oppoturnities (sic)' Quote

ashie Posted December 18, 2007 at 09:47 PM Posted December 18, 2007 at 09:47 PM we'll be higher in the U.S after the billboard numbers come in. I'm guessing 100 000+ copies this week and another 120 000+ next week. Back to +-90 000 the following week. Album should be reching platinum by january. holding thumbs it will reach the two million mark in the U.S some time next year. That would be a healthy sales figure. Quote
boyblackuk Posted December 18, 2007 at 09:55 PM Posted December 18, 2007 at 09:55 PM Sales are stable rather than being great then falling nearly 100k again is great Quote
