Your_Su_Phu Posted November 27, 2008 at 05:29 PM Posted November 27, 2008 at 05:29 PM (edited) What did Taking Chances sell in the UK? Over 300,000 without a hit single? Ho ho ho. LOL Anyway, in a sense "All The Way" was re-released in the UK this year with special packaging and only priced at £5 so not surprising its sold so well to be honest. how much is 5 pounds to USD? most cd's i see these days are sold for 13-14 bucks (with tax) here in the US. what's the cost of a typical new cd in the UK? A Decade of Song - Celine Dion 110,50096 My Love - The Essential Collection - Celine Dion 109,000 I think last update was about 15 days ago + the cheap rerelease of ATW paid off! about Alicia Keys; I'm sure she's talented, but her voice is so awefully horse! I really can't stand it! About Taking Chances, this album is amazing and as some might say; ah she has a big fan base and her sales are still good, then I say; no they are not good! It's a big big shame that an amazing album like that sold so pourly! It has songs that deserve to be known; Surprise, Surprise, This Time, TJTWIM, which could have brought Céline in a whole new direction! Instead they decided to play is safe and take no chances at all and still rely on the 90ies ballad singer And this will irritate me till the end of time! They (sony, rené AND céline) had a golden opportunity to make Céline relevant in the music business again and they completly blew it! Shaun Posted November 27, 2008 at 10:41 PM Posted November 27, 2008 at 10:41 PM Davey, whilst I agree about "Taking Chances" and "Alone", Sony did release "Eyes On Me" as a single and that was a bold new direction for Celine yet it still flopped. Now granted there was no promotion or video for it but they did still release it. But yes, generally speaking the world were just waiting to see what kind of new up to date sound Celine would return with and the chance was blown instantly. Less than a year down the line we have My Love...The Essential Collection. Davey84 Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:05 PM Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:05 PM Personally, I don't think much of EOM, it was a wrong choice as a single. But Shadow of Love or even Fade Away are more in the line of 'Celine Dion'. And like i said before; they didn't do any promo for it, only that one performance and they didn't even mentioned Delta with its release And don't anyone say she didn't have time, cos she had time to record segments for the tour and a new commercial for her more and better promoted parfums and like i said in the what's on ur mind thread; I'm thinking.... all of Céline's essential songs are missing from My Love Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
Shaun Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:12 PM Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:12 PM Possibly Davey. Don't think much of EOM myself, especially the original album version. If only Sony could've got permission to release the Will.I.Am version. And yes, why was there no mention of Delta anywhere? But sadly this is looking like the new thing for Celine's albums. First single fully promoted and video made for it and then after that nothing else. So in reality if Fade Away was chosen as a single it probably would've flopped anyway because nothing would've been done to promote it. A sad reality. CelionDion Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:15 PM Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:15 PM I think Taking Chances was a pretty good choice for a first single and it got decent promotion as well Sony BMG are part of the problem but it's simply a fact that divas like Celine, Whitney and Mariah are no longer dominating the charts the way they used to. The music industry has changed a lot since the 90s. You can always wonder how things would've went if Shadow Of love would have done as a first single but we will never know Quote http://showstalker.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/celine-dion-doctorate-laval-univ-2.jpg
Shaun Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:22 PM Posted November 27, 2008 at 11:22 PM It's not just the fact that Sony messed up with "Taking Chances" though. Whether or not the music industry has changed Celine has had the chance to move with it but Sony keep making mistake after mistake. Releasing "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" as a single, releasing "Have You Ever Been In Love" as a single. Releasing "Alone" as a single. The list could go on. Instead over the years we could've had "When The Wrong One Loves You Right", "I Surrender", "Reveal" or "Shadow Of Love" instead but for whatever reason they want to keep Celine as the ballad queen. Even when they do take risks and market Celine with a modern uptempo song (I'm Alive) they wait far too long to release it and then follow it up with drivel like GTSW. It should come as no surprise that the singles from TC flopped. Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
celinesounds Posted November 28, 2008 at 02:25 AM Posted November 28, 2008 at 02:25 AM If Celine doesn't want to promote the album why Sony would do it. In 90's Celine did TV appearances in almost every show around the world. If she wants to be on the top again she has to work hard....go to radios, talk shows, autograph sessions....and than after at least 3 successful singles….tour Quote #FREEJAVITO
