thevoice Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:34 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:34 PM it's much more important to perform live as much as she can RIGHT nowI agree. But that has nothing do with the Grammys Her album needs CONTINUED promotion. It's not okay to do full promo for a couple of weeks around the release date. It has to be done for a few months supporting the fist couple of singles. That's why they'll show the CBS special in February. The album will be 3 months old and most likely out of the top 10. It will be very important for Celine to be at the Grammys whether she's nominated or not. there r other TV shows where she can promote her album around that time...i'm all for long term promotion and we all know celine's recent albums sold more than the old ones during the first few weeks but then faded quickly .however the grammy's is not the only important show out there and anyway - she can always contribute one of her songs to a new movie and perform it live at the oscars Quote
Say What? Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:44 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:44 PM (edited) Because Celine's image/sound has changed with this new album, it's more important hat she appears on those music shows like the AMA, Grammys, Billboard Music Award, etc. Because the people who watch those shows are younger and can't miss Celine's new sound. If she's to perform at a morning show, only the older viewers tune in. Same with Oprah. I believe it's important that she targets a younger audience watching TV. We've already seen signs that that's what they're trying to do with the use of TC to promote a teenager TV show (Moonlight) and young adult TV sow (Grey's Anatomy in Italy). But the Grammys are more important than the AMA. Way more... in terms of credibilty, viewers, sales, etc. Edited October 9, 2007 at 06:44 PM by Say What? Quote
thevoice Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:53 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:53 PM well there r other shows she can do : Jay leno , SNL and others...+DWTS is one of the highest rated shows in the u.s right now . she can always do AMERICAN IDOL as a mentor , i think it's possible for the 2008 season if she really wants to promote this album there r enough ways to do it...i don't think a performance on the grammy's will make such a diffrence and the show is not what it once was - not in the ratings and not elsewhere Quote
Say What? Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:56 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 06:56 PM She will do Jay Leno and Letterman, and Today, and Good Morning America... the usual. Those shows are family shows and they're good for promo. You underestimate the power of the Grammys. Every year, the week following te Grammy Awards shows massive boost in music sales, especially for those who performed and won an award. More so than any other music award show on TV. It's just a fact, not an opinion. Quote

Say What? Posted October 9, 2007 at 07:56 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 07:56 PM Celine is one of the most powerful female singer in the business. It's mostly about politics and nominations, but Celine stands a chances to be asked to either sing or present, especially if she has a current album out. But the timing of the AMA is better because it'll be telecast just days after the album is released. The grammys would be for mid term promo just like the CBS special. Quote
fred Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:01 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:01 PM Whohooo!! How sweet isn't this? Seriously! By the time the DVD comes in dec, we'll all be hospitalized, due to severe Céline overdoze and we'll still begging for more! But hey, people, enough of this wishing her to be on AI - that is for B-list celebs, and our Céline is aiming at a higher letter! /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

Say What? Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:05 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:05 PM (edited) But hey, people, enough of this wishing her to be on AIActually, I was hoping American Idol would choose a song from Celine's album as their farewell song to say goodbye to the contestants who have been voted out. Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" and Daughtry's "Home" have all been excessively successful because of the inclusion of their songs on AI. That would be super sweet. fred Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:36 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:36 PM Well of course the best choice (from the songs we've heard) would be Eyes On Me with a nice remix and more base than on the recording session. But let's get real people. The video for TC isn't even out yet, so Taking Chances will be used to promote the album till earliest january. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

Céline's Blues Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:38 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:38 PM (edited) But let's get real people. The video for TC isn't even out yet, so Taking Chances will be used to promote the album till earliest january. So what? What is so wrong with that song that ppl hate it so much here!? It's her choice she wants to capitalize and she'll do it all the way all around the world till December 2034 if she only likes to. deelicious07 Posted October 9, 2007 at 10:23 PM Posted October 9, 2007 at 10:23 PM No, no. She CAN attend the Grammy's but she may not be able to perform. If you perform at the AMA's then you cannot perform at the Grammy's. However, artists have perform both at the AMA's and Grammy's in recent years. So not sure if they changed that rule recently. but that means she can't be at the grammies can she? i read once that artists who perform on AMA can't be on grammies and vice versa...i hope this is not true cause i wanna see her on both!!
