But...but...I thought she had nothing left to prove?!?! LOL

Honestly it's not really about proving anything. It's finding joy in something different and trying something new.

Happy holidays to everyone my wish for the new year is for less negativity on the forum and less scrutiny of Céline's personal/private life

And I wish that all the junk food in the world has from now on 0 calories, but noone will get what he wishes for, so get over it ;)

Another year has gone by ...without Céline doing anything for the Xmas season.

Not even her usual Christmas message...

Last Sunday I went to the Wainwright/ McGarrigle Noel Nights concert. And I kept thinking how fabulous it would be if the Dion clan did something similar.

If you're not familiar, this is an annual Christmas family & friends singalong put on the by Wainwright & McGarrigle families. Used to be presided over by Kate & Anna McGarrigle, until Kate's death a few years back. Currently headed up Kate's kids - Rufus Wainwright and sister Martha (they've been doing this show "since they were in utero"), plus their dad, Laudon. Then there are all the aunts & uncles and cousins and kids. Not all are professional musicians, but many are, and the rest are certainly good enough to be.

It's basically the entire Wainwright / McGarrigle family (and friends) up on stage - they all sit on chairs on the side of the stage and take turns coming up to sing a tune or two, rotate on various instruments, sing harmony with each other. Spans generations. Grandparents were there. Kids were there. Even Rufus' little daughter (and Leonard Cohen's granddaughter) sang a song (well, she's 7, so she giggled through most of it :giggle: Was cuuuuute.)

Depending on what city the show is in, they supplement the family with special guests. And because this is such a connected musical family, the guests are great - in New Your this year it was Emmylou Harris (queen!), Sufjan Stevens ( ), Joan as Police Woman, among others. Hal Wilner read a Christmas story.

It's a bilingual show (though I imagine there's more French in Montreal than New York!). Actually, trilingual - Rufus' husband, Jörn, sang Stille Nacht in German.

In the Montreal version of the show (last one tonight), the guests include Safia Nolin, Arianne Moffatt, Michel Rivard, others.

The entire thing is a fundraiser for the Kate McGarrigle Foundation and Stand Up to Cancer.

It's all kinda rehearsed, kinda improvised - not much need for prep as these are generally songs they all know already. Yes, there's a set list, but it's all a bit of an in-the-moment musical s**t-show (in the best way possible).

It's all basically what I imagine things were like at the Dion house when she was little and sang on the kitchen table.

Can you imagine if Celine & fam did something similar? All the brothers & sisters & nieces & nephews? And Marc & his kids (who we already know are very talented musicians). Imagine if they took their Christmas family singalong and put it up on stage and let us buy tickets to it.

Ah.... a girl can dream.

Her team posted the “Feliz Navidad” footage to her social media pages. LOL

Maybe she'll (her team) upload a new picture on christmas eve/after christmas or for new years.

What if they gave us a message and a release date for her new album....

Nahhhh :sofunny:

What I’d give to have the footage of her performing “The Christmas Song” and “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” from the “A New Day...” era uploaded onto either own site or YouTube channel. They have to have it somewhere in the archives!

She loves Pentatonix as much as I do, they're great :)

I feel like Let it Go is a good personal anthem for Celine. Especially from 2017 to present.

Pentatonix, what's that? Does that have something to do with the Nununu illuminati thing??? :hmm:

Merry Christmas everybody!

Here's Celine's audio from the only time Céline performed The Christmas Song in the 'Celine' Las Vegas show. This one took place back on December 30th, 2012. Enjoy :flowers:

Another proof ( if someone still needed one) how her team is incompetent.

The spotify playlist only has 3 songs off her own Xmas album :sofunny:

Worse : Happy Xmas is on there ( her most streamed Xmas song) but not her version! WTF! ?

Last year I spent time checking if any Holyday playlist had added Céline but this year, I haven't. I don't see why she deserved to be added or her music should be spread, they are not even able to include her songs on her playlists.

1.235.245th jokes from TC.

Thank you and happy Xmas. :innocent:

Céline: a superstar who apparently is not proud of her own songs and her own recordings. A legend who constantly ignores and neglects her own material on concert.

Probably the only one in her league. A unique case :-D :giggle:

And that's 3 songs too many. Should be none.

Sorry, but an artist-curated playlist full of your own songs is just self-serving and in poor taste.

OMG.

So true, Céline is so a self serving artist. 🙄🙄 Whatever!

Yeah exactly. Especially when she comes back with a new show in Vegas and more than half of it consists of such random covers and is called "Celine"

Especially when she does a new tour and 2 out of every 3 new additions are covers (again) and only 1 new song is of her own  . Okay...

I get what Scielle is saying the playlist is supposed to be what Celine listens to, not her own songs, MOST artists unless you’re Mariah Carey, don’t like to listen to their own music but rather listen to others.

However, the singing her own songs for fans live is a different story; she has no business singing all those covers in a concert called “Celine”, one would think it’s commkn sense for Celine to sing Celine songs in a show called “Celine” :)

Not sure I follow your point - is this supposed to be literal or sarcastic? Are you saying she is or isn't? Or isn't but should be?

Anyway, these artist-curated playlists aren't supposed to be a narcissistic "look at me!" exercise.

That would be as ridiculous as, say, Elton John or Bob Dylan or Frank Ocean spinning nothing but their own material on their respective radio shows.
