Yeah, but not everyone pays attention to the lyrics. I don't understand a word she sings, so I am not going to have the bias for deep lyrics like others who understand the songs. When I talk about my adoration for this song it's purely from a vocal and instrumental standpoint. :P

Okay... my first review after the first whole listening...

1. SNRQ

the song deserves to be the first single, it's outstanding in Celine's repertoire and also on this album. I heard it a few hundred times by now and I still like it very much... a true #1!

8/10

2. Immensité

The song alone is very good Pop-chanson... But if you compare it with the whole album it's... yeah a lil bit ordinary! Sure, a wonderful melody, Celine in, yes... good shape vocally. But this kind of french song can be found everywhere. I love the lyrics though...

6.5/10

3. À cause

You know I am TIN... I love remixes. I love beats. I love Celine. But after a few listens to this song I still find there's something missing. I'm sure it will be boring for me in a 2-3 weeks. I don't know. SFL was AMAZING... AC is nice.

6/10

4. Je cherche lombre

One of the highlights. I love the arrangement and the structure of the song. Such a smooth and enchanting little masterpiece... And the lyrics are outstanding! I hope there will come the day when Celine will perform this live...

9/10

5. Les paradis

I love how the song starts. It predicts a good midtempo song with a catchy rhythm. I admit I was a little disappointed with the chorous. But I'm sure it will grow on me. I don't like the ending much.

7/10

6. La diva

The much loved opera-song still has to do it for me. Yes, a perfect vocal delivery from Celine, an amazing arrangement, and I really like the concept. A very touching song. It reminds me of Papillion too, and it could have been on SISDA.

8/10

7. Femme comme chacune

A very catchy rhythm, melodious and perfectly produced IMO. the beginning reminds me of L'abandon, though the chorous is totally different. Again, the verses are outstanding, the chorous "just" very good. The song lifts the whole feeling of the album.

8/10

8. Si jetais quelqu'un

One of my favourites so far... the intro is sooooo beautiful and Celine's vocals are so haunting. I felt like i'm in paradise. And then the refrain: again very different and unexpected. The whole song is full of emotions. You can hear Celine's pleasure to sing this very special song.

9.5/10

9. Je ne suis pas celle

At first listen I was blown away. What a masterpiece. The arrangement is classy and modern at the same time. Like MPO on MIRACLE it's already a classic in Celine's repertoire. I adoere Celine's vocals in this song. She's so passionate.. and this song is so hers!!

10/10

10. Le temps qui compte

Agreed. Contre Nature #2. Only more ordinary. It's a nice radio-song, but I don't think someone will remember it in half a year. It's very predictable. I've heard it two times now, first on the TVA Special, second on CD. I know it now. -_-

5/10

11. La lettre

 .... hmmmm. One the most boring songs in Celine's carreer i must say. The lyrics are wonderful though.

3/10

12. On s'est aimé à cause

Yes, it's an generic over-the-top-ballad. BUUUUT ----> THIS is a true CELINE-song! Everything's perfect. Perfect intro, perfect arrangement, perfect vocals, perfect final chorous. I'm totally amazed by this song.

10/10

13. Berceuse

WE DON'T NEED MIRACLE! ... now we have the lyrics of Miracle, the music of MPO, the emotion of ISSW and the feeling of BCYE in one song. only hundred times better: BERCEUSE! I was in tears after her poerformance in the TVA-special. A great ending song and imagine you are RC in 50 years and have this song from your mother on your whatever it might be in 2057...

9/10

After listeng to the first three song I was scared I must admit. This album was shaping to be the french OH. But after hearing the whole CD I am satisfied and very proud to be a fan of such an outstanding singer. Celine gives us her full heart with both hands. The authors gave their bestestest. Most of the songs totally fit Celine and the concept. The quality is, as I dare say, the best since her return '02 and the album is a whole. Thank you Celine and also thanks to the great Team behind the D'EUX #2: D'ELLES!

99/130 = 7,6/10

I see it differently. I see the white over the black, the half-full over the half-empty. The human experience is an imperfect experience, yet one does not have to dwell in pessimism.

It really depends an individual's personal experience.

I look up to my grandparents and my parents. I see "On s'est aimé à cause" holding true to them more than ever. And the same thing with many of my friends, "On s'est aimé à cause" holds true to them.

Even with the complications that arise, when a person is able to find their true love, "On s'est aimé à cause" may apply well to them. If not, then c'est la vie. :)

I dont agree with that. Its true that people nowadays are less hopeful and less willing to put work and effort into a relationship. But why should Celine sing about that? That isnt her... I think this song is attractive to her because she tends to gravitate towards any song that defends love because of her relationship with Rene. And I think this is what this song means to her. They've been married for a decade now and they still get crap from the media and from people all over the world because of their age difference. They love each other despite the age difference, despite critisism from the world, despite her family's disapproval, despite her crazy career, despite everything going against them. So for her, this idealistic love is her reality.

She sang it herself in SNRQ....if there was one woman who would fall for all the love cliche's, etc, it would be her.

I totally agree with what Tal said. I remember Céline saying in a documentary about Rene - The man behind Celine Dion - that she believes so much in Love and that's why she sings about it.

And you can including me on that group too lol I'm totally like that - love those love "cliche's" ehehehe

And for me LOVE is eternal --- if it doesn't it's because it's not love, it's passion.

Also, I'm so addicted to that song 'A cause' dancing and slow version hehehehe

But you missed the meaning of the song, it's the contrary ! This song is against and even at the opposite of the illusions, this kind of love that she used to sing. It's a song to show the reality of love, I would say, the difficulty to love.

The songs says : stop to the illusions, love is a fight of everyday...And become real and interesting when you manage to accept and understand the differences. The song doesn't say that it is easy...But how difficult and interesting, eventually impossible, it is to love... And in the case of Celine, it's a succes..This is not an isolate case, and it means that everyday, they fight themseves for reaching their goal.

I just loooove this album.

There's actually only one song that I don't immediately find appealing and that's La lettre...

The album is very versitile I think and each song represents different emotions.

I find this album better than both 1f&4t and SSD and almost as good as D'eux.

Maybe I think they're just as good, since they are so different.

D'eux is more of a timeless album but this one I think is more contemporary.

I love it!

My favourite songs are Femme comme chacune, on s'est aime a cause and je cherche l'ombre (I love the irish flute in it, it could have been tacky but it's truly made with style)...

Everybody says D'eux is her best french album. I don't agree with it. For me, D'elles is much better.

D'elles is even more impressive as most of the songs have been recorded in ONE take. Caompare that to 1F4T where she's done about 5 takes for each song - on D'elles we have the first and ONLY version Céline ever sang in studio!

The TF1 journal reported it recently. About 1F4T - JJg told that in an article where he said he couldn't decide which of the many takes Céline recorded to use cuzz they all were that good!

I finally received the CE saterday!! and after hearing the album at least 6 times... here's my review! :P

1. Et S'Il N'En Restait Qu'Une (Je Serais Celle-là)

I think a very good choice for the first single! A strong song… and still hasn’t lost it’s power on me! 9/10

2. Immensité

I love the violins! The more I hear it, the more it grows on me… good 2nd single? Je ne sais pas… but a beautiful song! 8/10

3. A Cause

WOW I didn’t expect it to be like this…Never thougt a song like this would end up in French! I really love this version! But with all Veneruso songs, after the bridge it falls a bit flat… but one of my favs defiantly! 8/10

4. Je Cherche L'Ombre

My surprise of the album! WOW! It’s so beautiful! The music is also amazing! 10/10

5. Les Paradis

Very sweet sounding song… although the message is a bit more bitter… I like the rocky/county sound of the song! 7.5/10

6. La Diva

As said before… kinda like Papillon… now I don’t like that song that much… I love the way Callas is mixed into this song! But I find it a pity that you can’t really hear Céline at the ending of the song! Damn this girl really can sing everything! 8/10

7. Femme Comme Chacune

Great song encore… Amazing lyrics… great vocals.. but it still reminds me of En Dedans from Sandrine François and a song from Maurane… 7.5/10

8. Si J'éTais Quelqu'Un

Another gem on the album! Simple but beautiful lyrics! I love it when céline sings in low notes! Another one of my favs!! 9/10

9. Je Ne Suis Pas Celle

Haunting music…beautiful intro… great vocals and lyrics I love how Céline plays with the melody on the lyrics… something we’ve never heard from Céline 8,5/10

10. Le Temps Qui Compte

Great rocky song… though nothing really special to me… 7/10

11Lettre De George Sand à Alfred De Musset

Céline sounds so different talking! Hahaha maybe she also should making audio books! :D Beautiful music and vulnerable vocals… like it! 8/10

12. On S'Est Aimé à Cause

The last amazing surprise of the album! I can’t believe à Cause and on s’est aimé à cause have the same lyrics! WOW WOW WOW I love this version… it’s so Céline… beautiful lyrics bien sûr and so much emotion in her voice! Has anyone noticed the errors in the lyrics or the booklet? It makes no sense! Hahaha! If this isn’t a single together with à Cause then Sony is crazy!! 10/10

13. Berceuse

IMO the most touching song on the album! Even though it is kinda sappy… the lyrics are so genuine! And I can really imagine Céline saying this to René Charles before she leaves for AND… 9/10

Overall: 8.5 :D

David Gategno is a really good gem for Célines team! He composes amazing music! I love this album! It’s so different from all her other French albums… and so different then 1F4T…

The one negative side, for me at least, is that I don’t understand 80% of the lyrics! It’s a big big shame, because you can’t really know the album if you don’t… I really need to learn French! :giggle:

yea thats what i said too haha. i could never listen to the entire album before the cd came out. whats the fun when ur listening to the cd for first time if you already heard them all already

Well, after one whole week of listening to d'elles, i conclude that this album is a MASTERPIECE! Eventhough her voice is not so clear like in D'eux and SISDA, this album has the best lyrics in her career. Coz it's the only album (with Celine Dion), that is so personal and reflects Celine's emotions, feeling, thoughts, fears e.t.c. Not Celine's as a diva, but as a person - wife and mother. The songs are strongly connected to each other and focus on the same point: celine's personality. For me, it would be a crime to seperate the songs and write seperate reviews. There are 13 parts of a common theme, but with diffirent music. Uptempo, rockish, ballad, opera. It's unbelieable that those 10 women who live (and lived) in diffirent ages and societies, wrote about their common project. And that project is not 'just songs about women' - this project is CELINE DION! It seems like celine was the one who wrote those amazing and true lyrics, through those women! So, my grade is [10/10]

P.S. Sorry for my bad english!
