From what I heard I can only say what a beautiful album Some tracks are just amazing They have done this very beautiful and what gets me the most is althought I don't understand the most of it I can feel that this album brings lyric wise more than any other album she made. Mozinha Posted May 17, 2007 at 12:11 PM Posted May 17, 2007 at 12:11 PM Can someone write the lyrics of On s'est aime a cause? It's my favourite song in the album. It's different from A Cause.Yeah the melody are different but the lyrics are exactly the same.. You can the lyrics in that topic: http://www.celinedionforum.com/Official-Da...pic-t22998.html My french is not the best but I could easily identify different sentences, from 1:19 it sounds something like "Malgre la pluie tombant sur nous étés..." and until 01:58 the only sentence in common with A Cause is "Comme Adam et Eve du paradis perdu". The rest is different. Anyone who is fluent in French, could you please write donw what she is saying between 01:19 and 01:58? I can understand better when I read and use dictionary than when I listen. I'd be very thankful! This probably is my favourite song ever. Lollypopboy Posted May 17, 2007 at 12:39 PM Posted May 17, 2007 at 12:39 PM In La Diva, did Celine make the intro OPERA sound? someone sang that right? Cause I knew Celine did try to make the opera sound at the end of the song. No, i think the intro is Maria Callas herself...hmm... that's what I heard. maybe it's all Celine... And the ending is Celine and Maria  hmm.... for me, the best french album of her career!!! nothing more to say lol...   :D I just fell in love with La Diva!! perfect song!! :in_love: Quote Sebastien Et s'il n'en restait qu'une...Ce serait Elle...
Céline's Blues Posted May 17, 2007 at 12:40 PM Posted May 17, 2007 at 12:40 PM "Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'une" This has been a very strong single so far and it deserved to be her 5th no. 1 in France. Strong lyrics and angry voice are what make the song one of Céline’s finest songs to date and best lead singles which capture the spirit of the album nicely. Saiknho apprecited mostly the emotions put onto the lyrics, vintage cresdendo a la Dion! It deserves very well 9 Sainkhos out of 10 possible. http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/8230/brigittenostmg4.jpg "Immensité“ A luke warm yet somewhat above average melody line does not fit the dreamy lyrics and the imagery landscape of the natural elemets is kind of lost in this song. The dramatic refrain at the end shows that our Céline understood at least parts of the song and the juxtopposition of elements and human emotions. What she really feels is grand and you hear it. So do six of the 10 possible Sainkhos. http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/3599/nostalgiabytomasnyma7.jpg "A Cause" Sainkho likes to dance now and then while regurirating some of her deepest emotions on stage. This ist he song to dance but it is understood that it’s not at all a happy one at all. Already here we’re hinted at the overall theme of the album. Mechanical rhythms and soaring vocals will make this song a hit throughout Europe. Sainkho rejoices as the mixture of sharp lyrics meets the sharp texture of Céline’s vocals. http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/7375/technosainkhong7.jpg "Je Cherche L'Ombre" Is it an Irish ballad or rather a refined French chanson with some Irish flavour? Sainkho and I agree that it’s the surprise of the album musically as we both wouldn’t have expected in our dreams that Veneruso would be capable of capturing the spirit of Céline’s moment. This ist he closest we can get to her. On this very song, a star weeps not for mercy or compassion but for reflection. http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/2299/nostalgiabygalifardeuvr0.jpg "Les Paradis" Screaming hit and a joyfully arranged with luscious layers of refined guitars that umnderline the spirit of the song quite truthfully. One of few happier numbers of the album which then again wouldn’t ever be qualified by Sainkho as a „happy song“ in any case. She enjoys the vocals and the lyrics. And the lustrous guitars. http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/9738/nostalgiabymrpaconv9.jpg "La Diva" Lyrically surely another of many gems on the album it does lose some of its hype pretty quickly as the song seems to be rather a bunged up ode to La Callas as it is she herself who opens and closes the song. Whether it was a good idea remains to be seen. Céline’s vocal power is impeccable yet a little over emotive at times. Ironically the song’s saving grace is the last part with Céline’s dolce maliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiia which blends nicely and shos yet another aspec of Céline’s status quo. The one that still lasts and will last. As will Sainkho’s mixed feelings towards this song middle part. http://z.about.com/d/drawsketch/1/0/5/9/konwar_celine_dion.jpg "Femme Comme Chacune" Hello I'm Verka Serduchka. Me English nix verstehen – let’s speak pop! Absolutely fabulous lyrical concent meets very poppy and lightweight arrangements a la “Coulda Woulda Shouda” yet it strikes the listener at once. A quality song that shows even poppy songs can have gorgeousness in them. Lyrical gorgeousness and great music. Sainkho likes. http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5374/lafemmebyde4thrabbitzu7.jpg "Si J'Etais Quelqu'un" As I suspected it was clear that this song will live thanks to Céline’s interpretation and it’s indeed the case. It may be not stunning lyrically but the eerie intro already strikes the chord of sadness. Simple and engaging. http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/7756/nostalgiasainkhoyb6.jpg "Je Ne Suis Pas Celle" As the whole album is brimming with potent music especially thanks to Gategno who rose to the occasion and delivered something refined; something that emphasizes the lyrics and vocals without sounding cheap or forced like it is the case with Veneruso very often. The pulsating background of this song is the desperation emanating from the lyrical content, somewhat this border between career and her real self. It doesn’t have to do anything with honesty, which always is there in the music and delivery – it’s more about the perception of it by some people. A magnificent song to die for literally. Sainkho is enchenteé! http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/1746/2112rt0.jpg "Le Temps Qui Compte" It may sound a little like a rehash of Contre Nature musically but it’s again the lyrics that make the song. Not to mention Céline’s magnificent interpretation in the vein of typical sad European song. One of less engaging songs musically but it’s absolutely masterful lyrically. Up there with her usual French thoughtfulness and nostalgia. Remarkable lyrics. http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/1319/nostalgiaduodc8.jpg "La Lettre de George Sand à Alfred De Musset" Sainkho would have loved that Céline sings one of her letters to Boris Yelcin. It would have sounded as original and as captivating as this one even if at times she reminds of Mon Homme vocally. The emotional side suffers a little but the spoken intro makes up for it as one has to concentrate on the lyrcs, not on the delivery. http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/8779/thelastletterbygalifardpu5.jpg "On S'est Aimé à Cause" The gay boys power has definitely caught my attention. When two studs come up to Céline and offer different musical arrangement it simply can’t go wrong. They love her, she loves them ad the result is a stunning ballad which is a nice alternative to the mechanical yet strangely fitting beats by Veneruso. Masterful vocal delivery but the lyrics need a techno kick to come to be fully brought to bear. Still her voice manages to convince. http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/3657/2girlsandakissbydaarambk5.jpg "Berceuse" A marvel of the album that deserves to be the last and also the best song of the album. Sainkho weeped a little after she heard the lyrics. This is the prime example of how it should be done musically – music and lyrics are one here without overshadowing one another and with enough space to Céline’s delivery to shine. When all three ingredients work another accentuates itself: the right mood that summarizes the content of the above songs… musically and emotionally. Phenomenal! http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/1613/sleepysainkhoof0.jpg I was pretty underwhelmed by this album initially cuzz like Céline’s answer to her 1995’s D’eux it is so different in many aspects that you may be very well speaking of a disappointment when you set your hopes so high for a successor of D’eux. It doesn’t of course take away of the lasting power and the quality of Céline’s interpretations – they remain her finest and will surely define her music in the following years. D’elles as I suspected must not be seen in the prisma of D’eux but of a woman who has been defined by 10 female writers beyond of Goldman’s scope. That’s exactly where the strength of the album lies – the sadness in the lyrics, the depiction of Céline’s spirit, the encapsulation of her image how she’s seen by others. Does she answer the questions? Does she really answer any questions imposed by the wide audience on D’elles? Just like on SISDA she addresses the issues, emotively, interpretatively but there is no answer even if one may see the album itself as some kind of answer through accumulation of feelings, the perception depicted in the songs or the calm burning nostalgia right the way through the CD. Just in the vein of vintage Céline Dion revealing a piece of herself without being domineering we find certain strings of themes from the songs that lead back to our lives. This time not as grounded and first-person-perspective a la Goldman but rather from Céline’s own interpretative perspective and the female writers’ subjectivity as well as their willingness to catch a special moment that seems universal and so strangely personal to us, not only to Céline. It's really something else... I'll post more later, but I can't believe the amazing quality of the songs. A Cause is awesome, and it's other version is a completely different song. I still can't believe they made it sound like such a different song. We're not talking about Sorry For Love 2010, this is some seriously different arrangement; they're both fantastic.I think La Diva is so much better than Papillion too. Papillion is super boring to me. La Diva is just amazing. I like almost every song of this album, except 2-3 weaker tracks, but they're not boring. This is something special, cause there always were some boring tracks in the old Celine albums to me(at least at first listen). I'll write review of every song later. La diva,Je ne suis pas celle,Lettre et Berceuse represent the concept the most i think.i liked all the tracks but the problem is no track a-m-a-z-e-s me. i'm kinda let down and feeling proud for Celine at the same time.its weird.and la diva is so much better than papillon btw Edited May 17, 2007 at 06:26 PM by amelie Quote

thevoice Posted May 17, 2007 at 07:57 PM Posted May 17, 2007 at 07:57 PM almost all the songs r growing on me , few points : 1 - LA DIVA - her best french song ever? i know that many of u would kill me for saying it and most of us always think the past was much more beautiful and amazing . for me - it's pure perfection , i cant even describe the impact of this song on me . i think it's celine's best vocal performance ever probably . and Benzi is a genius!! i want an entire album with him as the producer!! ohhhh my god - the music and her voice - it can really make me cry . just no words , no words - perfect!! 2 - as i said many of the songs sound better and better everytime i hear them - "Je Cherche L'Ombre" - one of her most emotional ballads ever in my opinion . even "Berceuse" which is not my cup of tea sounds better with time .i like the ballads in this album , each one of the ballads . 3 - and ofcours all the songs that i already mentioned before that i loooooooooooove and the more i hear it the better it sounds i used the word treasure before regarding this album , i can use the word perfection towards 5 or 6 songs - i expected this album to be good but guess what? - it's brilliant!!! Kian Posted May 17, 2007 at 08:19 PM Posted May 17, 2007 at 08:19 PM Well, here's my review after only one listening. (Yeah, I didn't make it, I had to listen, all those reviews were killing me ). 1. Et S'Il N'En Restait Qu'Une - 8/10 - I still like this song so much, that choir .2. Immensité - 7/10 - Liked it more when I heard that short clip on Cherie FM. Still like it but was expecting more.3. A Cause - 10/10 - OMG, what can I say, P-E-R-F-E-C-T . Can anyone stay still listening to that song? 4. Je Cherche L'Ombre - 8/10 - Really nice ballad, loooove the music.5. Les Paradis - 9/10 - So powerful, full of energy, didn't expect it to like it that much.6. La Diva - 8/10 - Pure classic, enough said ) .7. Femme Comme Chacune - 7/10 - It's amazing right till the chorus. The chorus could have been better cause the rest of the song rocks .8. Si J'Etais Quelqu'Un - 8/10 - French ''Naked'' only better.9. Je Ne Suis Pas Celle - 6/10 - Like it but it didn't grow on me like the rest on a first listening.10. Le Temps Qui Compte - 9/10 - Very Contre Natureish, LOVED IT ! 11. Lettre De George Sand A Alfred De Musset - 6/10 - Starts ok but gets kinda boring later on. Maybe it would help if I could understand what she was singing about 12. On S'Est Aimé A Cause - 8/10 - After all the praise I was expecting this to be best song on the album, and it IS great but I like more A cause dancy one13. Berceuse - 4/10 - Didn't like it very much.
