I think he's more excited to work with Whitney cause he's producing the whole album, where for Celine he'll probably only do 1 or 2 songs. I do see this as a good thing as Ne-Yo has a refreshing sound for R&B compared to the trash we've heard lately. As long as Celine doesn't become the girl in the rap video like others have become, she'll do fine!

Nice! As "our friend" Chuck Taylor from Billboard said when he did the review of "I believe in you", Celine needs a new "That's the way it is" in her career. Sure he wasn't talking about a pop song, she already have a lot of that. He was talking about a NEW SOUND. Something that surprises people, as TTWII did at that time (almost 10 years ago). So, as a lot of people here just repeat theirself all the time, I'm gonna do the same; I think that some R&B would be good for her. I'm still waiting this album.

From what I've heard...Katharine's new album SUCKS! Its not pop at all...well I mean I guess in a way it is, but it is very urban/hip hop/rnb influenced. And it sounds fake, Im sorry. Like someone else mentioned here, hip hop isnt just a style of music, it is also a lifestyle. And listening to Katharine, or Celine sing those kinds of songs, it all seems so forced and contrived.

 

I really like Irreplaceable, but could you imagine Celine trying to sing that song with that attitude saying lines like "keep talkin that mess" or "got me twisted"...its laughable.

I see your point, Tal. You're American and you are actually hearing MANY things we, Europeans for the most part, are not. It's all on this simple level of pronouciation - yes, Céline has issues with datt and her French-Canadian innately nasal accent isn't helping either! Multiply this through the fact that she is not generally up there with Beyonce proclaiming her freedom or the one we don't talk about or mention here's slutty ho attitude... You need some righteous character to SING such songs.

 

Anyhow I think IF Ne-Yo will work with céline he will bee offering her some of his subdued laid-back ballads and I wouldn't have any problems with that. I can see Céline coping very well with a "heavy beat ballad". It won't be a Beyonce or the one we don't talk about or mention here's cheap copy! It'll be Céline style more or less.

 

I can't imagine her re-doing the mess of Rain, Tax again - though working with Charlie Doore is welcome anyday.

I agree, siur, but why, according to your speculations, a well known producer, hitmaker, songwriter should use the "wrong" pattern with Céline? Ne-Yo wrote so many sweet ballad and r'n'b pieces (i.e. Mario's "Let Me Love You"). So, once again, why should him come back over and over again with the "wrong" pattern (according to you, Beyoncé's "Irrepleaceble") for Céline's tracks? You should be more optimistic and less "I-want-to-be-critic-at-any-cost", otherwise Chantal will teach you her secret dance steps.

I am going to reopen this thread, however, if I sense it heading toward the wrong direction I will close this topic once and for all. So, please behave in a more civilized manner, this is a public forum where people of all ages visit. Can you imagine Celine's reaction if she sees all of this? It is really disheartening to see members engage in fights. Why can't we all just get along? No way! It was #51 at the Hot 100. But it was a huge sucess at the discos, #2 at Billboard Club Play...

 

Her last #1 was I'm Your Angel in beginin of 99. And her last top 10 was TTWII, if I'm not wrong, that one riched #6 but it was a long time at the top 10.
