krazy_kool_dude Posted January 11, 2007 at 01:23 PM Posted January 11, 2007 at 01:23 PM (edited) Ne-Yo checked in with SOHH exclusively to talk up his new movie, Stomp The Yard, the timing of his sophomore set and his plans for Whitney Houston's forthcoming studio album. "I wouldn't have known anything about the role had it not been for Columbus Short. He plays DJ the main character. I met him on the set of Save the Last Dance 2 last year. We became good friends and when they approach him about this new movie he mentioned my name to them," Ne-Yo told SOHH about how he snagged the role of the "free spirited Rich Brown." Stomp The Yard is a coming of age tale filmed predominantly at the Atlanta University Center and mimics the black college experience's famed Greek life and the traditions of stepping. The movie also stars Meagan Good (Waist Deep), Darren Dewitt Hansen (Soul Food) and R&B singer Chris Brown. Although there are plans for more extensive roles future films, Ne-Yo admitted that his current priorities were completing his second studio album and writing songs for Britney Spears, Celine Deon and Whitney Houston in hopes of continuing the success he scored from penning Beyonce's current hit "Irreplaceable." "My new album is definitely in the making right now. It will be done real soon, around April or May it should be out, but I will have a single as soon as February," said the Def Jam crooner who was reluctant to name his first single. "As far as Whitney goes, I really want to sit down and have a conversation with her. From her last album 'til now, a lot of stuff has gone on in her life. There may be some things she don't want to talk about. That's just real talk. Knowing that, I wanna see where her head is at, and talk about where she doesn't want to go. But I really think we'll just make hit songs and not worry about trying to make the comeback album. I'mma approach it like... let's just make hit records," professes Ne-Yo. http://www.sohh.com/articles/article.php/10650 i'm sure they meant Dion and not Deon! vivezpouraimer Posted January 11, 2007 at 02:59 PM Posted January 11, 2007 at 02:59 PM You must remember...a LOT of people write songs for Celine. That certainly doesn't mean she chooses them, sings them, records them, or puts them on an album! Even Jim Steinman wrote Is Nothing Sacred and sure it passed the first three tests, but not even Steinman got the 4th test passed. (Not that he hasn't before with her...but that makes my point stronger!) As crappy as Sony is, Rene still has some hold over the situation, Celine does as well, and they aren't going to put out a bunch of crap. (even though Sony does every day! hahahaha) Quote

"So Sick'' is a very catchy song, quite a big hit and its actually is a 'love' song, a light R&B number. Ne-yo's not rap, he's R&B. Look what R.Kelly did for Celine, her next #1 single with "I'm your angel". It's a good choice, no, it's a great choice to have him write her a song. For god's sake, its not eminem writing for her!! She can't alway sing friggin Diane waren tunes. Wait for the finished product before you cast your 'disatrous' judgement. Quote
stevo Posted January 11, 2007 at 05:16 PM Posted January 11, 2007 at 05:16 PM I agree Kyle_Jared: we have no idea what any song will be like until we hear them so there's no point writing it all off before it's even been recorded. Some people here are so miserable that they would prefer her to record with what they call 'naff' producers and songwriters just so thay can have something to complain and yap about. What ever happened to looking forward to looking forward to her next release...now it's always- "OH GOD! THis is the worst choice, he's crap, she's crap, this is terrible..." SCREAM! Quote

Because in my world, her French music doesn't matter. No one here listens to it. I know I'm jumping the gun here but I'm disappointed and fed up. Why is she working with people who are working with Britney Spears? That isn't the kind of music Celine should be doing. Why not take up Chris Martin's offer to write a song for her? I know he was kidding but maybe if she approached him and challenged him on it, he might actually do it. I dunno....I thought after all those talks Jenna had with her while writing For Keeps, Celine and Rene finally understood that we don't want Pop Princess Celine anymore. But from the sounds of it, OH Part Two is on its way to being released in 2007. CSCfan Posted January 11, 2007 at 05:56 PM Posted January 11, 2007 at 05:56 PM Whaaaat? We haven't heard one bit about any writers/producers of her English album and now people are already complaining/fed up? Give me a break. Wait till we have more info or better yet: wait till you've actually H-E-A-R-D the songs, then make your judgement, whether good or bad. You know what a perfectly well reason for getting fed up is? People who are already having [negative] opinions and criticizing stuff before they even heard anything! Even worse: the songs haven't even been recorded yet for heaven's sake! Tal Posted January 11, 2007 at 06:14 PM Posted January 11, 2007 at 06:14 PM I was waiting for retaliation from the SCFs. Look, I specifically stated that I was aware that I am jumping the gun. HOWEVER, we have this guy's resume in front of our faces. We know his style, what he's done before. His music style isn't going to change just for this one project. And if he is set to work on this album and his style is RnB, we can pretty much assume the rest of the album is going to be a pop-ish mix of songs. I know some fans are hoping for her to do something different for once regarding her English career. I, for example, was hoping for a record with a song like DMDB only in English. But if she's already working with people like Ne-Yo, I doubt that will happen. That being said, it doesn't mean he isnt talented, or that his song and the album won't be good. Speaking for myself, it just means that this album will most likely not be what I was hoping/wishing for. thevoice Posted January 11, 2007 at 06:41 PM Posted January 11, 2007 at 06:41 PM OMG celine and britney on the same sentence tho i have to admit , " Irreplaceble" is amazing so maybe there is still hope Quote
Tal Posted January 11, 2007 at 06:42 PM Posted January 11, 2007 at 06:42 PM I gave some examples. For instance, I would love for Chris Martin to write her a song. Or for her to record a song like DMDB only in English...but with the same moodiness and lyrics. And you are right. If I heard she was working again with David, or Diane or Peer I would say something as well. Because she's been there, done that. You can sing a powerful song, or a ballad and not have it be something like she's already done before. She can do it with a new perspective. Look for example, at IACBTMN....its a powerful ballad but nothing that you would hear from David or Diane. As for the Sweedish team....I think she is better then that. She's done enough (imo) pop songs like these. I just think that she's always stayed safe regarding her English music. She almost always sings power ballads, rnb ballads, or mid-tempo pop songs. And I'm ready to hear something different from her. In For Keeps she talked about a song she wrote, Drop by Drop....she talked about the desire to write music for her own songs.....she talked about being suprised that her fans don't expect or necessarily want more powerful ballads from her. So after her saying all of this from HER, I was seriously hoping that her next English album would be something different. Something more introspective and not the safe Celine she's been in the past. But hearing this possibility of Ne-Yo writing a song for her, it seems to me that the album I was hoping for isnt going to happen. I know you all say I haven't heard the song....its not confirmed....she might not use his song...etc. But there are things you can absolutely deduce from this kind of information.
