I've just found out Ne-Yo wrote Mario's "Let Me Love You". It was a huge hit here in Italy!!!

I only managed to find a 30 sec clip of the song. I like it but stylistically (meaning production and musical arrangement) I don't like it for Celine. Which brings up an interesting point. A song is really a blank canvas. Like you could take one song and have it produced by Timbaland, David Foster and Chris Martin and come out with 3 different songs.

I'd actually love to hear Celine do something like Swallowed in the Sea. Where in the beginning her voice is vunerable and soft and towards the end it becomes powerful with desperation :wub: You can listen to it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FICj8pVLp_o

I agree Kyle_Jared: we have no idea what any song will be like until we hear them so there's no point writing it all off before it's even been recorded. Some people here are so miserable that they would prefer her to record with what they call 'naff' producers and songwriters just so thay can have something to complain and yap about. What ever happened to looking forward to looking forward to her next release...now it's always- "OH GOD! THis is the worst choice, he's crap, she's crap, this is terrible..." SCREAM!

Ne-Yo's glittering record for other artists is as hot as his own career. He's currently working on new material for Whitney Houston, Britney Spears and Celine Dion. Here he dishes on some of his biggest successes of the past year:

Irreplaceable, Beyoncé: The production team, Stargate, "played me the guitars first, and it sounded like country music to me. I just basically wrote my version of a hip-hop country-and-Western song."

Gallery, Mario Vazquez: "I wrote that song around the same time I wrote So Sick. I was planning on keeping them both, but they both had a similar vibe. I was going to keep Gallery for the second album, but then Mario Vazquez came along. He loved that one. I respect his voice. He's got a voice, so I let him cut it.''

Unfaithful, Rihanna: "The concept for that song came way back when I first met Rihanna. That was one of our first major conversations. She was talking about a friend of hers that was in a similar situation. I remember before I played it for her I said, `I'm kind of making you the bad guy in this song. Is that OK with you?' She loved it, and the rest is history. That's what I try to do with all my songs. I try to make it where you can see the picture.''

So Sick, Ne-Yo: "I wrote it about the first girl that I ever fell in love with - like for real, for real - and how I screwed that whole relationship up. I wound up cheating on her, trying to prove a point to some of my friends. I just remember that hurting a lot. I confessed to her that I cheated, and she left.''

Neben Britney Spears und Celine Dion zählt in diesem Jahr auch Whitney Houston zu Ne-Yo's Kundschaft.

Kein Zweifel, Ne-Yo zählte 2006 zu den absoluten Ausnahme Künstlern und auch das Jahr 2007 soll ein ganz Dickes werden. Laut eigenen Worten ist sein zweites Studioalbum so gut wie fertig und soll bereits im Mai veröffentlicht werden. Doch er will auch andere Künstler mit seinen Songwriting-Künsten segnen. So plant der RnB Shooting Star einige Banger für u.a. Britney Spears und Celine Dion zu schreiben.

Doch seine größte Herausforderung wird wohl seine Zusammenarbeit mit Whitney Houston werden, denn er will die einstige Soul-Diva nochmal ganz groß rausbringen.

Basically...

I'm just going to be grateful to have something from Celine.

I think Celine is so incredible she can make ANYTHING sound good.

And like I said before -- they're not stupid. They won't put something out everyone will hate.

I don't find Celine selling out by working with him. She's done R&B songs in the past and even worked with reggae singer Diana King. I think this could be what Celine needs to really get back on top. Something like this could be her "We Belong Together"

Well not a WBT type song, I meant it as in success-wise. But look at other R&B songs Celine has done i.e. With This Tear and I'm Your Angel.

yeah i personally was never really big on celine dion rnb. i always preferred her doing songs that have a more rock or pop vibe. IYA and WTT are nice but thats all...just nice, you know what i mean?

A lot is being made of the fact that you write all your own material and of course that you co-wrote Mario’s “You Should Let Me Love You” but who are the songwriters you most admire?

NE-YO: Diane Warren is one of the best writers ever. I just feel no one can write a big ballad the way she can. Stevie Wonder is another amazing writer who writes directly to the human heart. R.Kelly is someone who can do a song strictly for the ‘hood and then turn around and do a song with Celine Dion. I love his diversity. It’s not something that’s common with many writers.

So, it's more than predictable that he is going to produce a track à la I'm Your Angel.

I think it's just depends on the person and their music taste...I personally enjoy Forget Me Not, Why Oh Why, When I Need You,THLAL. Those are some of my fave songs.

What a crock of excrement!!! I'm no sure about this direction. I always hated any R&B songs she's ever recorded. Her voice doesn't suit the genre at all. What a disappointment!

I disagree completely...it funks up what would be a drab LTAL album. Insignificant is totally not what it is- if you've seen the recording of THLAL, you can see it's one of Celine's favourites. I'm by no means saying I want an R n' b album from Celine but I appreciate the song for showing her versatility. That's all.

I agree! I love THLAL - it's one of my favorite songs on LTAL and one of the songs that I could listen to over and over again. I think it adds to the album and is a really good song for Celine!

You keep saying "it's one of Cleine's favorite". So you base your judgement on wha she likes an deosn't?? I base my own liking on what I like and don't like... not on what others like and don't like.

It IS an insignificant song 'cause it doesn't mean anything and has ZERO connection with the rest of the album. The song is about an abused woman who seeks revenge. It doesn't fit anywhere on the album and has a negative message which is a complete 180 on what Celine is about. INSIGNIFICANT!!

Excuse me- you're clearly confused- I by no means rate a song by what Celine likes- and certainly don't "keep saying" thats the reason why I like it. She obviously adores all of Miracle which, in my opinion is mostly poop- apart from ISSW...and many here will disagree with that- anyhow- what I meant was that makes the song significant because it has a connection to Celine because she favours it so much and therefore makes it much more worthy to be on the album rather some bombastic track designed only to show the masses how high and powerful she can sing. So don't try to tell me the reasons for me liking or disliking a song. I like the song, you don't. Congrats. :boxing:
