And about coming to france, she can do it in feb, she has only 1 show, she has 10 days off in May, and from march 18 till april 12th she has a break... so who knows... :D

 

On her next album entitled D'elles, which will leave to Quebec and in all the French-speaking countries on May 22

 

is that whole europe, or really only france, and quebec etc?

This is a major new album and Celine will most definitley record a video for the lead off single. She managed to record one for TLDH in the Nevada desert so she will manage to record one here whether she can get to France to promote it or not.

 

Also, even though CelineDion.com have said the album will only be released in French speaking countries it's likely to be released in all the other usual countries on the same day as well. Here in the UK we always get the French albums on release day.

I am really excited to hear the new single. Maybe those going to the AND DVD taping this coming week will get a preview of the song. I bet it will be added to the show and she will sing it during the DVD taping. Hope so at least!

Yeah, it most definately is..

 

I wish they would do exactly the same thing with her English album: Release a single 3 months before the release to see if there's any interest if yes, release a second one around the official album release. This is a real smart tactic and we would then get TWO high quality videos!

Agreed, it's also my opinion that an album should have 2 lead singles instead of one (because usually only the 1st is doing good and 2nd not, because everyone has already bought the album and everything). So yes..she should definately release 2..the 1st some time before the release of the album and one around the same time (or just before) as the album.

Btw, remember what they did with 1F&4T people.. she taped a special at the Colosseum and it was broadcasted in Quebec & France.. there's a good chance she will also do this (and other stuff) this time.

Julien, I do share your doubts and fully understand your concerns regarding the musical side of the project - I do feel the same. especially cuzz it's an amazing project that would actually deserve some serious musical treat!

 

Unfortunately what we do have is those:

 

Gategnogogogno ( )

Veneruso (Rien N'est Vraiment Fini, Le vol d'un ange)

Eric Benzi (Terre, Pappilion)

Marc Dupré et de Jean-François Breau (they'Re OK! really, nice acoustic guitar music I suspect!)

 

and

 

Gildas Arzel who I also see as a skilled guitar player that brought some great guitar plaing into Céline's repertoire. He played guitar on:

among others.

 

So the fact already that they will NOT use synthesizer guitar (a la Tina Arena "Impossible" ) but a real Gildas Arzel guitar and even if it will be a very poppy song it will live thanks to his skills.

 

I'm also afraid Gategno will screw up badly with Céline's first French single - in my opinion the songs need a RETRO vibe not a shallow pop song treatment we will probably get.

 

Julien, I think Céline should have worked with J.Dantin, Etienne Roda-Gil or perhaps Daniel Seff... then the album would be AMAZING musically!

 

Oh and why did they say that on the one hand:

So the first single may NOT be from the cheap Gategno after all?

One thing that's always frustrated me about the promotion of her albums is the fact that the [cheap] answer to this is right under their noses! She has a theatre all to herself that packs in 20,000+ people five days a week! I don't understand why "You And I" wasn't added to "A New Day..." when the live album was released. Also more songs from One Heart than just "I Drove All Night" and "Have You Ever Been In Love" (which in opinion is an A New Day Has Come song) should have been added as well (i.e. "In His Touch," "Naked," "Reveal," "I Know What Love Is"). If more songs from One Heart and "You And I" would have been added to the show her albums that those songs appear on would have sold better. It's common sense.

 

With that said if the leading singles from the two upcoming albums are added to the show I'm sure they will sell better. More people will have heard them and want to buy them.

 

And on a sidenote, I wouldn't worry about D'elles not being released in America. Trust me, it will. It may be a month later, but it will be released here. She does have store next to The Collosseum, after all, that sells her albums. It'll show up there for sale for sure.

That´s what I said, TF1 confirmed that the special will be taped in Las Vegas.

CSCfan, this is not easy. I'm used to Céline's French albums having a great grade of cohesion. It's simply painful to see your favorite artist going down the drain musically in front of your eyes and you can't do anything about it. I find JJG's excuse of "lacking time" ridiculous as h hasn't done ANYTHING since 2003 - he's got plenty of time on his hands fro writing some music or asking his brother to do it.

 

You know what's even worse? The fact that when we will get Gategno then Veneruso will seem SO GOOD in comparison to him it's almost scary! Have you heard any of Gnategno's songs? They're plastic, common, soulless, so radio-format-ready. It'd be an insult if he raped Céline like that.

I´m really really amazed by all the work, the originality, the artistic direction of this project for what it concerns the choise of the songwritters, their diversity, their talent. That is not just some famous writters who sell a lot of books. We have here a very large diversity, and women whom the style is very different (controversy, politic, love, human relations, tolerance, racism....and even this handicaped girl who writte with her heart beautifull poems...Not to mention this letter from George Sand), and every choise is amazing. Whatever the results, I finally find here what i always wanted. This kind of investigation, this integrity...What makes an artist. That is really a great improvement for her. I want everyone to be aware of this fact.

I've been hoping for an English album like this for a very long time. We all sadly know it is very unlikely it will happen in yet another couple of years so it is bittersweet to have this dream album in French. Sweet because it is finally happen. Bitter because it is in a language which I can understand very little of, and because yet again the large audience will still not know what Céline is capable of and they will judge her only by what she shows in English, which is cheap music with lack of artistic enthusiasm.

What happens now? They are collaborating with the French Max Martin. It's inexcusable IMO.

Of course this project lyrically is totally A.M.A.Z.I.N.G, and I still remain surprised by this diversity, the choice of this songwritters. That is truly an improvement, a great step, something I wanted since so long. Yes I can understand the frustration to see this happen only in french, this kind of artistic enthousiasm as you said. But what really pisses me off, is that this french project will not be totally accomplished. How can we let such a great work concerning the lyrics, to these predictable music makers....And Celine should take care by doing this, because the french press will certainly don´t let her massacre those words from those famous writters, and particularly this french letter from George Sand.

The pop changes a little. And I think those musics.. are great. I was think WHAT you guys gonna said if celine mek the same way of the Mariah Carey! All I'm doing is expressing my deception that now the cheapness ghost crossed over from her English albums into her ONCE holy French territory. Which then again doesn't mean I don't like her music! I have protested as soon as Max Martin has been added to the Céline equipe as well when the Swedish Foundation has been hired. YET I must say I kinda understood these steps since they were purely commercially driven. But now with her French album I don't see a point having the French Max Martin being part of an album with Edith Piaf's lyrics!!! That's like insanity only Céline Dion can pull off. Now in French.
