Great news!    I only wish that celinedion.com would confirm it.  You would think that if Rene mentioned it in an interview that he would contract celinedion.com and ask them to let fans know on the same day that this press item was released.  I guess that is too much to ask?

 

I am excited about a new French album.  Hopefully a new English album will be coming soon also.

Las Vegas, Nevada // Megastar, Diva, Mother, Philanthropist, Air Canada Flyer (First Class), Madame Celine Dion is set to release her latest English album "Meant to Fly" on May 1, 2007. This eclectic album features the official song of Air Canada, "You and I," which was released on her platinum-selling live album "Celine Dion: A New Day... Live in Las Vegas." Dion has collaborated with long-time friend and producer David Foster to record 15 new tracks, including a cover of fellow Canadian Sarah McLaughlin's haunting ballad "Angel." When Ms. McLaughlin heard the news, she immediately sent Celine 555 roses, a source tells AP. A source also tells AP, because Rene Angelil guaranteed Sarah McLaughlin a royalty check of at least $500,000 for the use of the song.

 

Celine Dion continues her collaboration with Air Canada. On March 15, 2007, "lucky" Dion signed an unprecendented contract to receive $35 million, just by recording this album "Meant to Fly," featuring songs that carry the "spirit of Air Canada." Celine Dion will be making a worldwide tour to Asia, Australia, South Africa, UAE, South America, and Western Europe on the "Meant to Fly Tour - Sponsored by Air Canada" beginning on April 1, 2008.

 

The World's Best Selling Female Artist has sold over 230 million records worldwide, and is going to conclude her sold-out Las Vegas spectacular - "A New Day" on December 31, 2007. This 4-hour finale event will feature a performance of selected songs from "Meant to Fly" and rare once-in-a-lifetime duets with musical superstars. To appear on stage, celebrating with Dion are Tony Bennett, Cher, Tina Turner, Elton John, Michael Bublé, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, Brian McKnight and fellow Canadian friend Shania Twain. Master of Ceremony of the Event will be Ellen DeGeneres. Honorary Chairpersons for this Event are Oprah Winfrey and Stevie Wonder. Also, a grand prize winner will receive two first class plane tickets aboard Air Canada to any destination in this world that Air Canada could reach.  Tickets are $150, $250, $400, $500, and $1000. I'm not expecting any tour. It's not been confirmed yet. Let's take one thing at the time. The album is confirmed, let's wait and see what comes next.

 

Even if she tours, it won't last long. Even her team doesn't want it. Patrick himself said it won't last long. And she will take a long break. The Vegas thing has been very tough on her. I rather have her taking a break for a year or two than having a soulless exausted Céline.

 

I wouldn't be counting on a world tour. A small tour in Europe is the only thing that was mentioned. And they didn't even had a date because it was too soon.

 

I'm just trying to get hold of what we know for a fact. A lot of things can be speculated but I rather get away for speculations and get the facts. And even so, it's yet too soon to know.

I agree! I think there are going to be a lot of disappointed people when Celine finishes Vegas, moves back to Florida and then we don't hear from her for about 2-3 years. Yes she may do a small tour a few months after Vegas to promote an album, but I wouldn't except a lot of dates and a lot of cities. She wants to have another baby and that, RC, and Rene are her top priorities (understandably) so I think she will do a lot of resting in 2008.

the fact is - people fell in love with celine thanks to her larger than life voice , most of her fanbase loveeeeeeee those money notes and u can talk about jazz as much as u want to but most of her fans would rather another FIY than any jazz album .

Céline's French albums didn't sell only for her voice. That only goies to show the diversity of Céline's fans. Some go for the notes (which aren't there any mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooore) and some go for quality songs with a magnificent soulful voice.

In order to be soulful you don't need to hit those powerful notes. You can, tho but it's all a matter of preference and to say ppl fell in love with her voice only cuzz she screams is ignorant...rant...rant...rant...rant....rant...rant, gogo! I don't know what the ppl want but I know what I want and I am not alone along with these 6 million ppl who bought D'eux - there for example you find screaming and crystal clear vocals without oversinging like she does on FIY on some songs.

 

Céline needs a concept to lure the audience. Her voice ain't enough these days and leave the screaming to Whitney and her come back. Céline needs a conpet and she just unveiled it! A magnificent project involving female writers from the Francophone world. I bet Sharon will LOVE it.
