Right — the documentary was beautifully made and was not geared towards Celine’s biggest fans.

it was a “love letter to the fans”, so yes, it was geared only towards us fans

Also, Celine says she is in rehabilitation with her voice. We didn’t even get to see how she trains her voice now. We got much more insight with the Julie Snyder docus. She showed stuff that the fans really wanted to see.

I agree, it would be nice to have it instead of the boring John Fahram-or-whaterever segment

We actually didn't see some footage from the trailer in the actual documentary, I believe

For example, there was a part where Celine was wearing a white compression suit, and was later lying on a table and stretching her legs around... I don't recall this part from the documentary itself

I don’t think they even knew whom they were directing it at. It was geared towards everyone and, therefore, no one sufficiently. It’s what happens when you try to do something for the fans but also not for the fans. I think the most satisfied will be those who aren’t genuinely interested in Céline, to be honest.

Well, most of the people who watched the docu liked it. No wonder the reviews is still at 100%. This docu touches a lot of people. It made a lot of people cry. I think Irene did a great job with this docu. Of course, as fans could say there are clips of performances that were shown that are much better than the one Irene picked - I agree with this.

I hope this wins oscars

Because most people aren’t genuinely interested in Céline. They appreciate the film from an artistic perspective rather than for the usefulness of its content.

Nah if people aren’t genuinely interested in Celine they will never watch it. They watched it because they are interested of Celine and her current situation that’s why they don’t care much of the performances that Irene picked. Only us fans have issues with that. But this is the opportunity to show the best but only the performances - which most fans have issues with

no, she has other clothes on.

The recording was done in two sessions, on two different days…

Matthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall Inn

Stonewall Sensation - Season 15

But the period that was captured in the docu was not at all about rehabilitation. I'm pretty sure her work on her voice started later on... the state of her voice/mind during the recording of LA doesn't scream rehabilitation.

Yes. It is pretty obvious that she hadn't done much with her voice before recording love again. Because she wasn't able because of SPS. And we see how she was struggling to sing on the first day. Glad she was able to deliver so beautifully on the next day.

I'm very sure the rehabilitation started somewhere later in 2023 and is still going as she says. But it works as best as it could I guess, see the olympics :w00t:

Too bad, no grammy nomination for the docu.

But at least a nomination in the Hollywood Music in Media:

The fact that neither Taylor nor Beyonce were nominated for a Grammy in film is VERY odd.

For some reason I can understand why IACD was not nominated in the category 'Best Music Film'. It was not about music as much as it was about SPS.

When I think of it, I do not think of songs.

I know it sounds weird but this is the best I can articulate my thoughts right now.

Me too, point blank it wasn’t really a good musical release. And that was the point. The songs they choose were odd, and they were barely used as the film changed paths and focused on the SPS journey above all.

I hope one day she gets a proper musical documentary.

Oh this is one of my favs! It’s fun to hear the creative process, explaining how they created some specific beats. Nice precise questions from the interviewer.

I never comment this documentary. Am I the only one that did not like it ?

Not regarding Celine spasms moments but the general atmosphere that comes from the film. I guess it's made on purpose and it feels like death all long.

The atmosphere is cold, the baroque decoration of the house is morbid, there are big pictures of René everywhere, the outdoor games are under tarpaulin, the grass is fake, even the dog is at the end of his life. There is so Life coming out these images.

An above all, Celine alone. It's for sure the refléct of her new life, but it's true that we have seen her surrounded by her family all the time, living with some sisters and their husbands under the same roof. It seems that since René is dead she cut with all her surrounding, family, relatives.

Well so to say that I saw the documentary once, I will for sure not watch not again

Although I appreciate the documentary for what it is and the window into Céline’s life at that specific moment in time, there’s no denying I would’ve loved a celebratory reflective “look at what I’ve achieved *censored*” documentary as well.

I get what you're saying but I think it's exactly what made the documentary resonate with a wider audience. It's not so much about Céline or even her SPS but it's about aging, illness, loneliness... but also about being driven and resilient despite it all. Edited by Dancing_Queen

I also think it was perfect for that moment in time…

Also, in regards to emiliejolie, the extra dark and isolated feeling you’re describing in my opinion was done by Irene, intentional as SPS, is very isolating by nature, ALSO, the biggest reason is it was shot during the height of the covid pandemic. I’m sure Celine has more family, friends, and staff when it was a pandemic on day to day. I think that’s the main reason we didn’t see RC.
