Irene clearly has more insight than we do, but if we took her comments as gospel, we'd never expect Celine to give performances like she did in Paris and Riyahd -- which surpassed everyone's expectations, even Irene's according to other interviews she gave.

I love Celine's work with JJG...but Celine singing more Acadian/country stuff, please god no. She can sing less vocally demanding songs that still show off her incredible voice, in French and in English. Ideally, that would be with good pronunciation and no more of that bedroom voice with the vocal fry/rasp that she loves. It would be such a shame for her to "rehabilitate" her voice and still keep those habits that make her sound less than pleasing.

I honestly think the raspy voice was just her way of working around issues when she felt she couldn’t produce the vocal style she’s used to.

Celine didn't sing live in those two performances though. Irene's comment seems to be more about live singing than physical performance (for which Celine is probably good enough). We don't really know what the singing voice is at the moment; and also, how durable it is (most little snippets we heard were good, but can she sustain that for 1+ hour? and can she do higher notes?)

I still believe that her Paris performance was a recent vocal.

It was already getting ridiculous in 2016-17 when she struggled with first two verses of MHWGO but when had a perfect (lipped) culmination.

I hope if she does return, she won't go too hard on herself, and they actually change the arrangements to fit her, something like piano version MHWGO etc. Or make lipping parts less impressive so that the difference won't be as noticable.

I would love a stripped down version of MHWGO like she did on the CBS special for ANDHC.

One of my favorites, I love the piano cords in the song too, Scott could kill that arrangement.

Precisely!

I am convinced too, since the unique performance of the song was previously her live for the 2015 French attacks.

I agree, that's why I said that Irene should be careful with what she says so as not to create any speculation.

I know she did not do it on purpose, but she should be very careful, Céline is currently being watched by many people who insist on saying something (I refuse to mention), I think we all know what I am referring to.

That's why I said that if Céline has performed in Paris, it's because she really can.

Her current voice is that.

Well, what she said about working with JJG might be related to her work with him in the past, not that she is now recording with him. She actually never said it that way.

Didn't she first introduce her "bedroom voice" for LMBTL? I recall her voice being quite fabulous during that period. So, I think it was a styling choice.

yes but 2013 wasn't consistent and definitely a decline from 2011. Still more good moments than bad. I think those raspy lower notes started around TC tour though.

She’s been dealing with the early onset symptoms of her voice since 2008.

I went to see the movie about Maria Callas. (Very beautiful, Angelina did a great job)

Crazy how they both have some similarities in their career.

Both took years to finally get a diagnosis on their health issues.

'Losing' their voice because of it.

Loved by the fans, critics not so much. Especially later when she had vocal issues.

There was a particular scene where the pianist told Maria 'I want to hear La Callas'

Reminded me so much of the scene where Celine talked about going to the studio and the expectations of people 'who is Celine Dion'

Who knows maybe when they want to make a flashy Hollywood biopic about her, Celine can fulfill her dream to play her.

I think she can easily get into character since their story feels the same.

Even my bf said, I can understand why she wants to play her.

Of course, Celine had the dream to play Maria long before her diagnosis. Even in the '90s she had mentioned it I think. I think she should have used the time after her TCWT to do some acting, including this role.

Exaclty it was her dream but although she was very good in " Des fleurs sur la neige" I don't think she could go for an actor carreer, so it's better nothing that something low quality. Although Céline claimed for years she would have loved to play this role, I guess producers didi not event think a second to choose Céline because it would have interfere in the promotion of the film and at the end being a bad idea. Imagine Celine would have played the role, the entire promotion would have been around "Is Céline singing for real ? was she able to sing this and this "

Then I don't agree with the similarity between these two. Celine has the chance to be supported by her surrounding since she was born and by René over the top And this love build the person you can be and the self esteem you might develop. Mariah CALLAS searched for love and love of herself her whole life and couldn't find any relief about it.

That why I said 'some similarities' and the few they have in common I mentioned.

Never talked about the aspect of 'love'.

I also think it was perfect for that moment in time…

Also, in regards to emiliejolie, the extra dark and isolated feeling you’re describing in my opinion was done by Irene, intentional as SPS, is very isolating by nature, ALSO, the biggest reason is it was shot during the height of the covid pandemic. I’m sure Celine has more family, friends, and staff when it was a pandemic on day to day. I think that’s the main reason we didn’t see RC.

Yeah, it was crazy to have a Celine documentary that didn't even feature RC. Then again, it was revealed that Irene was only with Celine like..two to three handfuls of days over the course of year or however long they were filming.

We also never really saw a ton of prolonged time of Celine with her twins. There were a few scenes, but I expected we'd see more of them all three together. I didn't really get a sense as a viewer of how their mom's illness affected them in real time or emotionally. Her sister Linda was around but always off to the side, we never see them having a direct conversation iirc. Watching the documentary you'd never know how close she and her sister truly are.

The whole thing was a bit staccato.
