I’ve noticed that in the US people like to use the words “apparent” and “suspected” to dodge liability

 

You could be caught red-handed during an armed robbery and still be called a “suspect”, until convicted

My BF didnt like the doc. He thought Celine was great and it really gave the sense of how much she misses performing but he hated how the doc was put together. Too much back and forward and random performances slotted in with zero context. I get that she was trying to show the difference in performing Celine and private Celine but if a conversation led to a particular clip being shown, it would have made more sense.

 

My bf said exactly the same. I noticed it as well, I'm not sure when I watch it for 2nd time it still feels like that.

 

 

I wondered what people who are not so into Celine would think. When I watched again and look at it a little more objectively the clips at times just did not fit. At times they worked really well. Like sometimes one just popped up in the middle of her discussing having to use valium to get through things and I was like what why is that there.

 

I was afraid I was the only one who noticed that, and got a bit annoyed by it.

Maybe because I was to focused on her story.

You know I was thinking, if and when Celine is ready to return with a new album I think something that could really work would be to do a hybrid French/English album. Something like seven French songs And seven English songs. I think after being away for so long, now is the perfect opportunity to at least for one album, marry those two worlds together. It could literally even be the same songs translated into both languages.

I showed her the film a second time. She said, “I’m going to let the younger boys watch the movie with me, and I’m going to walk them through the film, and I’m going to let them understand what happens to my body.”

If I could have filmed that scene, that would have been the quintessential Celine. Celine, the mother. Celine, the woman who is suffering. Celine, the woman who is trying to learn something and teach something out of her own suffering to her children.

She was holding their hands and they did not seem visibly upset watching. I think it was because their mother was saying, “It’s OK, it’s just the disease. This is just what happens.”

 

 

So wait, Céline never attempted to explain to her children what was going on prior to the film being finished? I find that hard to believe. Even without a diagnosis, I would imagine they knew about as much as she did. After all, they were there with her through the whole ordeal, and they were 11+ years old, not 5.

I’m not sure if it’s a journalistic law here in the States, but yes you are correct. The use of words like “allegedly” are used to protect the journalists and news organizations.

Some of my favorite moments in the doc, which I believe no one has mentioned yet, are the adorable clips of her children when they were really young. Like Eddy and Nelson revolving calmly in those automated baby rockers. SO CUTE. Or RC riding the merry-go-round and that smooth transition to the more recent clip of him doing the same thing.

Does she mean she has four warehouses?? I was like, what? As if this was not big enough to store this much, and you have four!? ������

 

I believe she is referring to a specific item but I know that it was mentioned somewhere that she does indeed have four such warehouses.

I want to add that during the session of Love Again song. When they're listening to the recorded take of her voice. I think Celine did an amazing job harmonizing the part "And you will love" and I think it should have been part of the song. It sounded great!

I think the documentary was hard to watch , of course because of its subject ( the illness) but ...I don't know... the atmosphere was gloomy. Sadness, loneliness and pain.

 

I don't know if it was the editing or what Irena had access to but it's hard to process that one of the main people Céline is/was talking to are those 2 unsympathetic (looking) boomers Dave and Denis, probably the ones behind her current miserable social media/discography treatment.

 

I imagined she had vocal issues but that much? God...LA session was painful. It's hard to imagine she will be back.

 

It's hard to follow her now ... she says something different about her vocal conditions in every interview. Once is "I'm gonna hit those notes again"... then "I'm not gonna sing the same way"..

That makes sense if she was getting progressively worse and having to take more valium. When she does come back on stage will be interesting to see how much she movement she does. Of course some it is all just getting older not just SPS.

She was fully doing them right up to, and including on, the CWT. And on that tour in particular, she developed some even crazier and more demanding moves, like those at the beginning of YTV or at the end of TLBSEPT.

Think could have cut the flashbacks in half and focus more on Celine now and this would have been even stronger.

Also when showed Rene's pic when Celine said he gifted her the Maria Callas necklace it sits in a tray we see on the footstool in first shot when the twins interviewing Celine. Just moved to other side of the books.

 

It was more about the frame for René`s picture. Not the picture itself. Of course there are pictures of him to be found in her house.

By the way: Did you mention the golden sculpture of his hand behind the yellow tulips (the scene where she puts on her "cozy socks")?

It doesn't but it does make me question what that person has to say. I just hate when a writer can't get basic facts correct and it also contributes to inaccurate reporting on Celine and that I don't like.
