Do you think there will be an "extended version" of the documentary?

 

Isn't it weird that the 2LP version of the soundtrack will be out in August?

Sony Music wants to sabotage itself. With LP release now, the soundtrack would chart higher. It's not like they did not know they will release the soundtrack, they could have produce vinyls on time.

I really admire her. She has such a strong discography. Same genre as Celine. Really good adult contemporary stuff - love 'En Cambio No' and 'Incancellabile'', could totally see a collaboration with Celine. I think I was very good. No Celine, you ARE very good and were here whenever youre ready.

 

That part broke my heart.

It's also shows she is only human with every emotion and insecurity that comes with it.

 

Like some of the greatest legends also said, the public is the drug, performing, being onstage.

 

I always thought Celine could do without it, sometimes she pretended she could do without it.

But it just shows how passionate she is, and what a energy it gives her.

I went to IMDb to check the rating and I read a couple of reviews and I just wanted to punch the people who wrote it. How disgusting are they to call her a narcissist. They're clearly just haters.

They are also ignorants.

 

The American Psychiatric Association has outlined 9 key traits of narcissism. One needs to tick at least 5 of these to be classified as a narcissist. Celine barely ticks 1.

 

She really is a nice, kind, empathetic person.

It's obviously "narcissistic" it's a Documentary for god's sakes which focuses on her!

And she being narcissistic by thanking John Farnham, a not a very well-known name outside of Australia and other few places, trying to thank her band and remembrance of her mother... obviously all of that is narcissistic.

 

 

Who did people expect her to talk about in her own documentary? Taylor Swift?

Saw it last night and I'm still unpacking it in my head. Overwhelming feeling of sadness that she's going through this but equally the determination and resilience is so inspiring. All in all I loved it but it was a wave of up and down emotions.

 

My BF didn't like the doc. He thought Celine was great and it really gave the sense of how much she misses performing but he hated how the doc was put together. Too much back and forward and random performances slotted in with zero context. I get that she was trying to show the difference in performing Celine and private Celine but if a conversation led to a particular clip being shown, it would have made more sense.

 

I wondered what people who are not so into Celine would think. When I watched again and look at it a little more objectively the clips at times just did not fit. At times they worked really well. Like sometimes one just popped up in the middle of her discussing having to use valium to get through things and I was like what why is that there.

Thank you! Yeah, those warehouses are phenomenal! Well, I already imagined somehow how they might look inside - but THAT's definitively way beyond any imagination. She must have a team to maintain that! Dust of, rearrange, take care of the items ... GOSH!

In one of Irene's many interviews she talked about how Celine and her discussed Maria Callas but that did not make it in. I would have loved more discussions between Celine and Irene and less of the flashback clips. Just getting more of how dealing with everything that is where the doc was the most powerful.

 

In terms of her having new managers, we have no idea why Dave or Denis not there. They could have retired, they could have not wanted her to go back on stage or were more cautious after having watched her go through these crisis. I know if I had witnessed these first hand over the last several years I would be very leery of seeing her go back on stage for her own well being. This is all to say lets not disparage who has gone before without knowing all the facts.

 

All I want is her happiness and well being.

It's a whole new level to see Celine so close like this in the documentary. Scenes like showing her warehouse and making coffee at the pantry are just so lovely.

 

The "Love Again" recording session and she sang "Who I Am" are also unforgettable. I'm going to watch this a second time but probably will skip the last crisis scene. It's too hard to watch her suffer again.

I’ve noticed that in the US people like to use the words “apparent” and “suspected” to dodge liability

 

You could be caught red-handed during an armed robbery and still be called a “suspect”, until convicted

Also when showed Rene's pic when Celine said he gifted her the Maria Callas necklace it sits in a tray we see on the footstool in first shot when the twins interviewing Celine. Just moved to other side of the books.
